June 24, 2025Jun 24 I've been busy of late upgrading my flight sim rig. I had a catastrophic C:\ drive failure which resulted in getting a better motherboard & cpu from my youngest son. I also had to upgrade the ram to ddr4. Added a 2tb ssd for c:\ drive. Full pc specs in my sig. Once I got it up and running, then came the reinstall of a lot of items and finally testing and started flying again. However, I kept looking at the Honeycomb Alpha yoke. My last yoke was the CH Products Yoke with the 9 or so pin game style plug that connected to the old sound cards (sound blaster & turtle beach). I've been using joystick/HOTAS style hardware for many years and wanted to get a yoke again for better small control inputs and felt they help with flare on landings, at least for me. Anyway, I got the Alpha and have been so pleased that I decided I needed the Bravo TQ to make my enjoyment even greater. Boy did it! Two of the best purchases I've made in all my 40 flight simming years. So, I thought I'd show my fellow XP12 pilots a shot of my flight sim setup, not the greatest but not the least either, and the main thing - it gets the job done well enough for me: Edited June 24, 2025Jun 24 by beechcaptain broke down large paragraph for easier reading. My Thrustmaster pedals are working fine. I changed to heavier tension springs for better feel/control, so hopefully it will last a long time. 😉 Glenn Wilkinson SpoilerMy specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X @ 3.7 GHz, 32 GB 3200MHz DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB, 2TB SAMSUNG EVO Plus SSD M2, 2TB WD Black Gaming SSD M2, 8TB WD Black Gaming HDD, 4TB WD Black Gaming Ext HDD, Windows 10, X-Plane 12 + large quantity of 3rd party addons scenery & aircraft. I was using the Thrustmaster T16000M but wanted the yoke and it works just as well, maybe a tad better with the buses, imho. That's my take anyway. These potentiometers get janky when they get dirty from dust or wear out. The Honeycomb Charlies as do the Turtle Beach pedals, use contactless, high resolution, hall effect sensors that never wear out and are super precise. If you find your thrustmasters acting funny and making the plane hard to control with dead spots or over corrections or sluggish response, you can use this guide to fix it: Edited June 26, 2025Jun 26 by alanw2005 Flight Sim Software/Hardware: MSFS 2020 Premium Deluxe | MSFS 2024 Aviator | X-Plane Mobile 12 | X-Plane 12 | Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack Airbus Edition | Thrustmaster TCA Yoke Pack Boeing Edition | Honeycomb Alpha Flight Controls | Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant | Turtle Beach Velocity One Rudder | Xbox wireless controller | Stream Deck + | Flight Radar 24 Gold | Navigraph | Simbrief | WINCTRL PAP 3 MAG, 3N PDC, 3M PDC & PFP 7 | Wingflex A320 EFIS, RMP & FCU Cube | 3rd Party Hanger: Fenix: A319, 320, 321 | Flight Factor: 777-200ER with engine variants | Flight FX: HondaJet HA420 | FlyJSim: Dash 8 Q400 | Hot Start: Challenger 650 | iFly: 737 Max | iniBuilds: A350 | PMDG: 737-800, 777-200ER, 777-300ER, DC-6 | Toliss: A321 with engine variants | Zibo: 737-800 Computer Equipment: Intel i7-13000K | Asus Tuf Z790 | 64 GB Corsair Ram | 2 TB NVMe OS Drive | 4 TB NVMe Game Drive | 3 X 4TB SATA Data Drives | Windows 11 | Asus Dual RTX 4070 CAE Full Motion Flight Simulator Experience: Boeing 737, Boeing 767, Boeing 787 Real Aircraft Flying Experience: Schempp-Hirth Janus, Cessna 172 and Cessna 185 https://www.youtube.com/@CYVRAviation
June 26, 2025Jun 26 If the TWCS exhibits a jittery signal in X-Plane, its potentimeter also needs cleaning. I did this some time ago using the video below and it improved signal quality enough for use as a helicopter collective. Note that the potentiometer casing's latches are a giant PITA to open. I think I only managed to do it with a portion of luck. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
