From all camps, I'm so tired of the perpetual 'early access' philosophy that has unfortunately universally forced all gamers to be beta testers nowadays.

How nice it has been coming back to FSX to have EZdok, Steve's DX10 Fixer, Ideal Flight 10, FSDiscover, GSX all working harmoniously with (IMO) the best aircrafts out there - the Concorde X, A2A COTS B377, CaptainSim 727, and DC-6.

Honorable mention has to go to Lossless Scaling in FSX, it works wonders, even in low teen base frame rates.

The newer games may be prettier but the tenure functionality of FSX and its classic plane variety wins more smiles from me.

Steve's DX10 Fixer, this totally changed my experience in FsX, it was like going from a dark night to a magnificent sunny and clear day, I couldn't even be more grateful to that addon. In fact, it was the culprit for me not migrating to P3D until it reached the 64-bit version.

Lossless Scaling has been a godsend for reviving old sims. I never thought I could run FSX in my light laptop at 60 fps. I still keep it for some old beauties not available (or available but not as good) in MSFS. In fact, earlier this year I purchased a plane I had long ago pending for FSX. Unfortunately, it didn't run well with Win11, and I had to return it. Gladly, the seller understood the situation.

People are often misled by developers who use attractive visuals, misleading claims like "study level" or "approved by [aircraft manufacturer]," and high-fidelity systems, or, as you mentioned, "early access". However, many of these products barely meet the criteria for an alpha release, let alone a beta. In my opinion, people are not forced into this disgusting trend; many just don't care. In many countries, these kinds of sales tactics are not allowed and are properly regulated. I'm afraid we tend to accept lies as soon as we're given a nice story, and then we find excuses like "it's their right" or "oh well." We become ATM machines for them.

747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

I also got a bit fed up with the constant unfinished state of releases as well as the whole upgrading hardware every few years. My system is nearly 6 years old now and i mainly fly P3D, a bit of X plane but i still come back to FSX i'm still very happy with how it performs.

Even though I have been flying FSX since 2013 I have learned i still have much to learn and enjoy the process (sure it can be frustrating at time but the reward feeling when you have mastered something is pretty cool).  I didn't realise this lossless scaling app works with FSX so think i will give that a try out too,

I am about to (hopefully) start to learn how to fly this lovely aircraft from PMDG, i have heard this is one of the best add-ons ever made.

A perfect example of unfinished releases are the Blackbox Airbus aircraft. I, perhaps foolishly, purchased their Airbus Widebody series (Prologue I think it was called) quite a few years ago as I wanted some Airbus widebodies with well replicated AIrbus systems to complement my Aerosoft A320 series. The Widebody Prologue seemed to have a lot of functioning Airbus type systems and came with a promise of further upgrades to come which tempted me to go for it. Needless to say the upgrades never materialised and, I am certain, never will as Blackbox only produce products for MSFS now. This is a shame as the product had loads of potential with a lot of nice features and would have been great even if had reached the systems level of Aerosoft's Airbus. However the FMC in particular, although it is modeled on the Airbus philosophy, leaves a lot to be desired and my Aerosoft A320 series provides a far more enjoyable and realistic Airbus experience. I am just glad I didn't purchase the Blackbox A320 series too but sometimes it seems we learn the hard way!

I still fly FSX as I have invested a lot of time and money in it and it generally functions very smoothly for me without any problems. Although I am tempted 'to leave well alone' I will however have a look at the lossless scaling app to see what it offers.

Enjoy the PMDG MD-11! I used it in my FS2004 days and it was amazing but I refused to pay the full price again for the FSX version as I thought they should have offered even a small discount to existing customers so I went for their 777 instead, also one of the best addons ever made!

Not for much longer, they're downgrading the scenery to run smoother on consoles. Older sims with addon scenery such as true earth by orbx running at maxed settings and lod with lossless scaling actually look better in certain areas and altitudes.

These days if you say you only care about the flight simulation itself and the scenery is just icing on the cake you get called a dinosaur.

I'm OK being a worried Dino. We all know what happened to them!
