August 16, 2025Aug 16 I am interested in getting Virtucol's ATR package and possibly the CRJ package too. I understand that these are lite aircraft with not a lot of systems modeled and I'm ok with that. For the price, I wouldn't expect more. My main concern is the flight dynamics. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on how good the flight dynamics are for their aircraft? I'm not expecting something like Flysimware quality, but if Virtucol flight dynamics are reasonably close to accurate, then I'm ok with that. I just don't want to buy an aircraft package that has really bad flight dynamics. Also, I'm interested in any other thoughts that anyone may have about Virtucol aircraft. August 16, 2025Aug 16 Author I did a little research and found some extremely interesting. The Virtucol ATR package is now totally free. It's the same as the payware package. For some reason, Virtulcol decided to release it for free. August 17, 2025Aug 17 Nope: the freeware version is a version 1. They are selling a version 2. For the ATR and CRJ, I'm not too fond of them, maybe because the throttle levers are too simplified (i.e., more like a Boeing than an ATR or a CRJ). The biggest issue is that they have no manuals at all indicating climb or v-speeds. August 18, 2025Aug 18 @Zylx I guess you've considered the Carenado ATR? Systems wise surely it has the edge on the Virtuacol .. and eye-candy wise it's night and day really comparing the two? Does pop up on sale occasionally Also, re the CRJ, not sure if you've considered it, but the POSKY and IRIS CRJs are reasonable and free, and you can pair them with the former-FSX panel, works a treat, that's my current CRJ solution. Just my $0.02 Dean Stringer

August 18, 2025Aug 18 Author @deeknow I have considered the Carenado ATR and you are right, it is probably better than the Virtulcol ATR in many ways. I have read though, that users report issues with the Carenado ATR's systems and some have pointed out that some things are not modeled accurately as compared to the real ATR's. I guess the Carenado ATR's are probably the best option there is available for P3D users. I will check out those CRJ packages you are talking about. I do have a CRJ-200 package but I've not come across any CRJ-700 packages, but I will look for those freeware developers you mention. I just want to add, that I haven't seen a Carenado sale in a very long time, and I'm talking at least a couple years since I've seen one. They used to have fairly regular sales, but then they stopped. I used to stock up on Carenado aircraft during those sales and I do miss them. You can find many Carenado aircraft cheaper over at SimShack compared to elsewhere, but I think the ATR's are still the same price of about $45 even on that site. August 19, 2025Aug 19 Sorry guys, yes your right it's been awhile since I last bought one by the looks ... maybe if we post often enough they might see the demand and run a sale for P3D PS the most recent VCol title I bought was the Dash8-1/2/3/400-pack (I know OP was asking about the ATR/CRJ) ... it's cheap, and pretty basic but comes w loads of repaints for most models. I did a few repaints for that recently for some real-world NZ historical airlines, and a current Wideroe one (Norwegian) https://www.flightsim.com/search/?q=Virtualcol dash8&quick=1 Edited August 19, 2025Aug 19 by deeknow Dean Stringer

I've heard very good things about it so it sounds like it's worth the money to buy it. I had the old Majestic Q300 for FSX but it just never worked in P3D sadly. Shame as was nicely done too. Dean Stringer

Fortunately, the throttles in the real Dash are not that special (i.e., unlike the ATR/CRJ/modern Airbus ones) so the simulation is not that unrealistic this time. The Q400 is a bit too light, but I got the Majestic one too. Unfortunately there aren't many operators down here. 4 hours ago, Zylx said: I still use FSX to fly my old favorite aircraft that won't work in P3Dv5 🙂 That's a good one.
