September 9, 2025Sep 9 Just saw these in the notes for the beta... not sure what some of it does but good to know things aren't being shelved... Virtual Reality Added Foveated Rendering Scale to the graphics settings. Replace the full 2 eyes view on desktop monitor with a single cropped 16:9 view. Keep head pose and xr data when Quest 3 stops tracking to not break the mirror rendering. Fixed cockpit LoDs which were unaffected by VR lod factor. i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug
September 9, 2025Sep 9 Scale slider is much easier than tweaking the usercfg.opt 1 Eye view is better for streamers, or for me showing the sim off to visitor while in VR. I dont have a Quest 3. Cockpit LoD: now my A350 is working again, no holes. And things like numbers on keys in the Fenix A320 are now showing from every distance as before. September 10, 2025Sep 10 Just curious, how does SU4 perform in VR? Any good improvements? 9950X3D / 64GB / RTX5090 / Pimax Crystal Light / Win11

I have heard many good things online form content creators using VR... when i get my machine back from repair, i dont know if ill go down the beta track again... i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug
September 11, 2025Sep 11 For me at least, performance is much improved. My 5090 is finally running at full 100% utilization in VR leading to much better FPS when flying airliners around large airports. One quick tip: Try turning off foveated rendering in complex aircraft. On my system foveated rendering actually harms performance when flying complex airliners because it needs additional CPU resources which are scarce in complex airliners. Given that my 5090 has plenty of GPU headroom available, turning off foveated rendering increases FPS because it takes strain off the CPU and shifts workload to the GPU. But this off course might be different if you run a less powerful GPU. [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE

When CPU limited, as I am in most situations...FR can actually hurt framerate / frametime. It's very useful for those with older and lower end GPU's though.

September 13, 2025Sep 13 So aside the lack of Regression Testing with this bunch of clowns the performance improvements are there in VR, without AutoFPS or any other mods in use I've noticed that head movements are much smoother, the general performance is smoother and if anything that's allowed a slight FPS increase as well. Take Off/Landing low FPS is still an issue, not as bad as SU3 but it's still bad enough for a Flight Simulator so they need to fix this and fix it this update. Unfortunately the aforementioned lack of internal testing means it's a faff to get the Mouse working and that in itself leads to other problems, going back into the Menu in VR still causes the Sim to drop performance massively so I have to restart every single time which is a PITA, but when I have flow I have had a couple of decent flights. With lower settings than 2020 it's still not on par with it's predecessor (SU4 Beta Build 2) but it's inching closer with regards to performance, so they're slowly getting there. Fix the mouse/controller issues and then it'll be the real time to test this update, being wary though as ever the case they tend to start betas out with good performance then it gradually drops off towards the end, this has been a running theme for a few betas now so we'll see how this one pans out. September 15, 2025Sep 15 For me the Foveated Rendering Scale adjustment is an improvement. I have Varjo Aero, 4090 and 5800X3D. I can drop the rendering scale to 34% with a minor artifacts, 25% is too low. With the default rendering scale 50%, the foveated rendering performance boost is not so big. Next I will study if I could increase the peripheral area PPD value without significant performance hit.
