September 12, 2025Sep 12 I really like to see you enjoying and investing in this platform Peter. Unfortunately most of the XP and MSFS users don't even guess how involved you once were on flight simulation.... I like watching your youtubes!!! Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
September 12, 2025Sep 12 I had tried this recently but I get a much better outcome/experience with Lossless Scaling at 2x. I guess I need a 5090....😄 Eric i9-12900k, RTX 5070ti OC, 32GB ddr5 5600 RAM, 2TB 980 Pro SSD, Titan 240RX AIO, Samsung CRG90 49", Win 11

You could bolt a 9090 from the future into your computer and XP12 would not run the tiniest bit faster (if you ARE CPU limited). It´s like having one guy shovel a hole and another guy carting the dirt away with a wheelbarrow. Getting more guys with wheelbarrows will not make the hole getting dug any faster. September 13, 2025Sep 13 Unfortunately, that method only works for the more recent graphics cards. Not available with my 2060. I would use lossless scaling should the need ever occur. So far, I haven't seen a need to make the purchase for LS. Glenn Wilkinson Spoiler My specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X @ 3.7 GHz, 32 GB 3200MHz DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB, 2TB SAMSUNG EVO Plus SSD M2, 2TB WD Black Gaming SSD M2, 8TB WD Black Gaming HDD, 4TB WD Black Gaming Ext HDD, Windows 10, X-Plane 12 + large quantity of 3rd party addons scenery & aircraft. Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Thrustmaster TFRP. It's an older machine but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!

GPU limited is expected in my use case as I set all the graphics settings to the their highest option/value … same as I do for MSFS 2024 and P3D V5.4. Also flying at night will increase the load on the GPU a lot, as most airport lighting effects are calculated by the GPU on a per-pixel basis. When you use the DATA OUT function and pick the index 0 "Frame rate" leftmost checkbox, you can see an output on the screen that not only shows your framerate, but also the frame times (how long each needs to calculate one frame) for the CPU and the GPU. If the time shown (in seconds) is larger for the CPU than for the GPU, then you are CPU limited and vice versa. This way you can see what is "holding you back" if you suffer from low framerates, but if you enjoy high framerates to begin with, it can be acceptable to have a large inbalance here...this just means that one of your components is more capable than it needs to be. But having headroom in one area does not hurt (except your wallet when you buy it).
September 14, 2025Sep 14 @Litjan yep, I’m well versed in performance balance … just waiting for the 6090 or LR to move to DX12 Ultimate. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. - Carl Sagan
September 14, 2025Sep 14 And I'll bet feeding 4k monitors with 8x MSAA which makes no sense. Even a 6090 won't help. Ultimately the solution will be to wait for motion vectors and the benefits that come after. Friendly reminder: WHITELIST AVSIM IN YOUR AD-BLOCKER. Especially if you're on a modern CPU that can run a flight simulator well. These web servers aren't free...

I like watching your youtubes!!! awesome and thanks for the kind words, continue to spread interest in my channel... this hobby is very huge and I am attempting to break in to something covered by many prolific youtubers that are flightsim experts too... but it's going better than I ever expected honestly... so now I must keep it growing!! Yea, anyone over 50 knows flight unlimted III, those younger don't... that means we are over 50!! Oh well I know real pilots at 80 so.... haha
September 15, 2025Sep 15 Author Laminar MUST double the performance raw, without help from anyting like lossless or nvidia smoothing.. for some reason they can't ..not sure why .. thus msfs is winning over many folks....

They can, but all the stuff people demand, comes at a cost , guess what that is, performance, but mind you im now seeing fps in the 50s with current beta. Laminar not stupid, do things in controlled stages so they dont drliver a mess. They have being preparing the way for mulithread, hence Vulkan, i believe even current b has some changes getting ready for that. One shouldnt make statements one has no info about.

Native Mac and Linux compatibility by means of Vulcan is a huge advantage for X-Plane. 4 hours ago, JETPETER2 said: Yea, anyone over 50 knows flight unlimted III, those younger don't... Yes, I do and I'm far from 50. FU1 was one of my first flight sims, along with FS 4.0. 4 hours ago, JETPETER2 said: Laminar MUST double the performance raw That's abslutely impossible. On the bright side: If you're not GPU limited and some new CPU has a 20% uplift in instructions per cycle compared to yours, you will see XP's FPS increase by just that amount.
