I see clouds at night - Oh Yeah

Featured Replies

Hi Everybody,

As most know I've been working on night lighting edits for re-shade for some time, with that said... I also created a non re-shade version for X-Plane some time ago, but left it to sit while I played with re-shade. Yesterday I decided to have another look and the adjustments to the non re-shade version are getting there, I've been able to get the clouds to glow a bit at night as well.

Lets see where this goes, oh yeah... No more flying into pitch black clouds, I can only imagine what re-shade will bring to the mix.

Hi,

Short video clip showing the progress being made in the center computer/monitor. This is my non re-shade version of my edits, can only image what re-shade will bring into the mix.

I'll have to take a look at that.

Didn't see the moon anywhere, but I did notice I can see the clouds depending on my monitor settings. If I us the Dynamic, Standard or Natural settings I cannot see the clouds, but I use the Movie setting on my TV I can see them. But I also notice a slight haze over the entire screen.

In case you did not know, you can control the moon's illumination capabilities by increasing the value of "sim/private/controls/lighting/E_moon_lx" (default in 12.3.0b4 is 0.6).

Still wish you would move that camera forward, Cant see half of what you are trying to show us.

I don’t know. Some of those pictures look horribly unreslistic. Most of the time when flying at night it looks pretty pitch-black. What is missing though is the lighting of landing lights being reflected in the clouds. Otherwise the sky doesn’t look like that during night at all…that’s way too bright, almost like in MSFS2024 before they fixed it.

I agree with Franz.

Mike... capturing images with your phone (or external camera) isn't the best way to show us the results of your edits.
You must use the PRINT SCREEN button to capture the simulator directly!
The resulting image will be 100% accurate, and will not have any defects due to monitor settings or color aberrations from your phone (defects that are very visible in your previous images and make them completely unreliable).
We're interested in seeing the outside view, only the outside view, in full graphic detail.
Press PRINT SCREEN and you'll get a similar photo. 😉

Hi,

Depends on where one is flying, then there are camera settings to take into account. New York isn't all that dark at night. The video gives a better actual view while flying, the camera adds its own additions to the view. The phots were used to show the clouds.

Hi,

If I was to use the print button I would lose all of my reshade/monitor settings that add to the actual flying experience.

Hi,

I didn't think the print button would pick up reshade, but it looks like it did, only things missing from my view in this shot are those that come from my 75" UHDTV (back lighting, brightness, contrast, sharpness, color, tint - subsection - dynamic contrast, black tone, flesh tone, rgb, white balance and gamma).

I'm thinking of adding a bit of color into the mix next.

Hi,

Bulb size that L/R is using is way too big! Aside from that it looks like they ignore the dome cap that's on city street lighting.

Hi,

A shot of New Jersey, Manhattan, Queens and some of Brooklyn. You can also see long island out in the distance along with Connecticut.
