BeyondATC: Upcoming VFR Plans Announced

Featured Replies

Ah nice. Watched the video yesterday and its great news. VFR seems to be a barrier in a lot of atc sims. Pilot2atc was fairly feature rich regarding IFR and VFR but I wanted something inclusive with traffic....and this is amazing news! Look forward to pattern work without having to use Pilot2atc (still do).

Actually I’m not sure Ryan. There is a spot for keyboard input but I’ve never tried it. Maybe go have a chat in their discord.

You can type if you want to in that spot.  You can also respond to ATC using the Pocket Sky mobile app.  I had to step away from my sim during my flight one time and responded to ATC on my phone using the app.

Is it because you have no access to a mic The voice recognition on SI is the best I have tried. The one thing they do well.🤣

I tried the VFR  and it has a ways to go, but it is a start. Like everything else in SI, everything thing seems half cooked.

It is very addictive though. I actually had a hard time going back to BATC even if everything works better..

MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.

While I own and really enjoy following BATC's progress...I definitely find myself using SI more currently.  For GA flying it's just better.  Not to say it's excellent by any means...but it's good enough to provide plenty of immersion.

I also much prefer the way the traffic is injected in SI.  No need for a Simbrief flight plan.  Load in at an uncontrolled field without a flight plan, open the app and the sky / ground is populated.  Pick up my flight following or IFR clearance in the air, and I'm off.

To me, BATC is much more catered to tube flying right now.  Hopefully VFR implementation will make it more viable for GA.

I really like BATC. But I wish they would fix the issues/bugs with already implemented basic stuff first, before coming with new features. Like descent path calculations, bad vectoring and so on.

So true from my perspective as well, both sentiments.  For me, it's pretty much ambience enhancement only because I don't like its traffic injection/management, so actually have traffic off, so it's just me and one premium voiced controller and dramatically reduces the cost, FSLTL's injection, and LiveATC for local chatter.  When will BATC actually pay attention to where I am vertically?  It seems to have no awareness of this exemplified when I get what seems like a bogus decent path towards a downwind leg so am I'm still 10K feet over the airport when it tells me 10mi out to turn into the base leg to intercept the localizer meaning I'd have to descend 8K feet for example in 10 or 11 miles.  Right then and there or before should have directed me otherwise but it never does.
