Hi all,

I bought the Inibuilds A300-600 Premium this evening. It's basically a 'native' 2024 version of the older A300-600 for MSFS2020.

As I always do with a new complex airliner, I reduced some settings, turned off photogrammetry and loaded the PW freighter version of the aircraft at my test airport;  DAAG in Algeria (very basic default airport with very basic scenery around it - great for tests). Clear weather.

First, I'll tell you the FPS I get with some other complex airliners in MSFS at this location (all figures are with TAA and no frame gen):

Fenix A320                 51 fps

PMDG 737 2024        64 fps

Aerosoft CRJ V2        58 fps

Just Flight RJ             46 fps

......in the Inibuilds A300-600 Premium, I had  12 fps   😐

This figure was consistent whether in the virtual cockpit or in the expterior view, looking at the aircraft or looking away from it.

I tried retarting MSFS 2024, this time with an otherwise empty Community folder.

Same result ☹️

After a quick Google search I found a number of posts on INI's own forum, Reddit and elsewhere on the internet all about the same issue.

In these threads, Ini have been stating for over a year that they would investigate. But reports from this month about the problem are just the same as 1 year ago.   'INI_Ed' keeps closing the threads which doesn't seem right when people are still affected.

It's noted that the problem does not affect all users.  But when it happens, it smashes FPS to the point of not being usable.

Huh. I flew this during the SU4 Beta back on 11/6. I didn't have a note in my log about any peformance issues. I'll have to check again in the final SU4.

As for me, did 3 flights just today on su4. testing the new fsfo a300 module. I have the premium a300. Like all my other plane, steady 90 FG frames. With locked 45 fps native in msfs2024.

This can't be right, I thought!    So I retarted MSFS 2024, this time with an otherwise empty Community folder.

 In these threads, Ini have been promising for over a year  to investigate and fix this issue. They have made NO progress and reports from this month about the problem are just the same as 1 year ago.

They are selling this utterly not fit for purpose addon, knowing that it has major issues, in causing the main thread to absolutely max out.

Just a warning in case anyone was thinking of picking this up over the hols.

@iniBuilds - This is totally unacceptable.  I have wasted over $50 on this truly broken addon today!

Not doubting your experience, but I have never had a problem with performance in this addon. 

FYSA: Last flight was a cargo run from Kona, HI to Honolulu (with iB’s payware PHNL), and everything ran just fine. 
this was SU3, haven’t run it under SU4. 
 

 

Works great for me.  Better than several default planes.

Are you all definitely referring to the same 'Premium'  model, and not the '2024 compatible' version?  (Performance was fine for me too with the 2024 compatible version).

It must affect some users and not others then, but as you can see from those posts on INI's own forum, others are seeing the same drastic performance issues that I am seeing.  

I actually followed the advice of a user on that forum and hacked the CFG files in order to remove the freighter cabin / interior.   It brought FPS up from 12 to 36.   Means that parts of the interior model are missing though.

Premium, which I believe has proper LODs etc that help with performance.   BTW, for me the A300 premium is much better than the default A310, which is only compatible with 2024.

FWIW, I’ll give it a try at DAAG and report back here. 

I loaded it up at DAAG and while it is harder on frames than most planes, I was still getting ok frame rate, nothing like the 12 fps you're seeing!    That almost sounds like a WASM issue, as in a bad compile or some WASM not compiling/corruption.

I don't normally turn on the fps counter since fps isn't relevant except maybe during testing like this...I was getting 50-55 fps and I lock at 30 with FG to double to 60.   Normally I don't like dropping below 60 and most planes peg fps at my 60 fps/60hz refresh rate, but right now the A300-600 isn't quite doing that.  I may need to use AutoFPS or the Dynamic setting to get this one to 60.  My normal fixed TLOD is 200.

There is also some weirdness on my machine, going on between external view and switching back to VC, where frame rate drops for a few seconds and then gradually comes back up after a few more seconds.   I don't recall seeing this in SU3, but I am going to let the A300-600 fully settle in (several more loads/compiles of WASM) and then re-visit this.   It could be something related to that, or, possibly SU4 needs to cache the VC assets and it's slow until that happens.  I noticed this behavior with the FSReborn M500 also, but it loaded fine (quickly) after a couple of flights.   More flying is definitely needed by me to clarify what's going on.

I just did a quick test flight in the A300-600 Premium out of KLAX, and everything was smooth.

I just did a few comparos at DAAG:

A300 Premium: 41 fps

PMDG 738 2024: 62 fps

A330 Default by iB: 69 fps

738 MAX by Asobo: 72 fps

i hope you’re able to get it working satisfactorily - this reminded me what a great addon it is!
