Setting a limit for FPS doesn't work in SU4 ?

Featured Replies

I have MSFS 2024 with FPS = 30 set, from the "UserCfg.opt", and in the GRAPHICS settings confirmed with the "Dynamic Resolution", but both the Nvidia App statistics display and the dev mode fps window show FPS varying between 50+ and sometimes 100+ ???

This happens no matter what my option for AA is, TAA or DLSS...

With FG using AMD FSR3 and a factor of 2x I used to see 60 FPS ...

Stopped using flightsims for good since early August 2026, after 34 yrs using some really great specimens... If I'm asked to name the preferred one, after all these years, MSFS 2024 is my answer without hesitation.

(No desktop :-// after the last one crashed for good, so no simming, but I keep polling AVSIM - my main ludic activities spot since around 2006...)

Have you tried setting the frame lock from the UI directly, jcomm?

Which would seem to be the most straightforward option?

Cheers, Bert

Yes I tried both options but I still get fps statistics quite above 30 or even 60...

I have a 3080, and I'm using the FG mod from Nexus in 2024. The only way I found to limit FPS was with the frame limiter in the Nvidia Control Panel. None of the other fps limiter options worked.

I haven't tried experimenting yet in SU4 (everything's working like it did in SU3, only smoother). Maybe I'll try removing the FG mod, or try other limiters, to see what happens.

Sorry, I don't know if that's any help.

I have the opposite problem.. My fps appears locked at 60 which is my monitor refresh.  But I do not have an fps lock set in the sim or nvidia control panel.  Vsynch on/off does not matter..  Strange..

I am fine flying like this, but still confused.. 🫢

Heartily recommend RTSS front edge sync for a couple of reasons:

  1. Produces the lowest frame time variance of any locking method available when I tested them all in late 2021.  Low FTV improves the subjective sense of smooth animation, particularly when frame rates are lower.
  2. Allows one to turn the frame lock on and off with a key press during flight.
  3. Allows one you to adjust the frame lock during flight with key presses.
