January 13Jan 13 I remember when Wesley (Star Trek Next Generation), the boy genius who was the most hated cast member of the show, went to Starfleet Academy. I hope they don't turn out more Wesleys. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
January 13Jan 13 Based on the trailers, I'm not enthusiastic. It looks like a teenager/young adult-oriented show. January 14Jan 14 I also liked Wesley. People just seem to hate smart kids, but I never looked at him as being big headed about it. In fact, I was disappointed when he left the show. As for Starfleet Academy.......I am not optimistic. Star Trek is just another franchise that is being milked into oblivion these days, and not in a good way. January 22Jan 22 Watched some of the first episode, as well as some commentary videos about it with other snippets. Conclusion: It's bad, really bad. More woke and silly than I imagined. Paramount will lose a lot of money with this blunder, but I doubt the producers and writers really care about that as long as they are able to disseminate their propaganda and brainwash teenagers and young adults. January 22Jan 22 Moderator I'll give most TV shows a chance; if I'm not interested, then I'll not watch it. I didn't mind the Pilot, knowing things can change once the regular Episodes start airing. I wasn't much into the "Discovery" events and Timeline, so the premise is... interesting. I'm a 'Trekker' from way back, so I don't mind when something 'new' hits the Airwaves. I can remember a time when no one knew if Star Trek would ever return, so I will take what I can get.
January 22Jan 22 It's hard for me to believe that the Borg, Romulans and Cardassians are going to take this lot very seriously: 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

January 23Jan 23 I particularly like how the Captain, a petite blond woman, sits curled up in the Captain's chair reading a book as if she's home by the fire. Then there's the sensitive, bird-watching Klingon, and other silly stuff. I know what kind of people the writers are who create and promote this drivel, but can't repeat it here. Dave A bird watching Klingon? Maybe if they were Terradactyls or giant man eating birds. I can't picture a Klingon with a Chickadee perched on his/her finger. Probably a short lived Chickadee.😏 Tom MAKA = Make America Kind Again

Dave My son and I have just been talking about that. This lot have no idea what Trek is. We had superb shows like TNG, Voyager, Enterprise and DS9... awesome writing. And now we have this stuff. So sad. For All Mankind is back soon though, and hopefully Silo not far away. And we still have Altered Carbon and Expanse to watch again, I guess.
