Official news: Next Gen Xbox

Well, well, well…😎

Seems like our fears of an AI exec abandoning Xbox hardware are unfounded:

Sounds neat, but also sounds like price might also move up a tier.

Personally, I’d rather have a hardware-refreshed Xbox X v2 for cost-effectiveness.

Well that is good, because there wouldn't be MSFS without Xbox.

I was actually a little worried for a minute.

The other issue this touches is on is something I've opined about here a few times and this is as Xbox hardware improves we can expect more out of our highest end PCs as any constraints created to accommodate Xbox will be moved up a notch or two...so great news for MSFS users.  That may translate to better LOD, and maybe even a bump up in voxel grid volumetric cloud rendering.

I only use my PC for MSFS and will upgrade soon and lost the will to futz with OSes so count me in.

Also, I'm getting pretty good with the XBOX controller.

I will laugh so hard I may never recover if this is launched and revealed to basically be a thin client for streamed content

I have a feeling it will play MSFS really well since my belief is that MSFS is a Microsoft strategic app.

Sure makes me suspicious when they say the project "reimagined" the idea of a console, and will play both XBox and PC games. I basically have that today, it's called Steam Remote Play lol

@UrgentSiesta

Thanks for the news…!

20+ years on PC, and ~6 years and running now, exclusively on Xbox.

So, after all, I may not have to usurp that PS5 from my youngster…🙂

No, they cant do that with the stated goal of being a blended gaming PC, too.

too many titles aren’t streamable.

What I think would be ironically cool is if they do make it Steam compatible, we could also have X-Plane and maybe even DCS World on it!

And not that shared kludge as with the current Xbox.
