Are the astronauts going to fly just to right or left of the disc? It may be interesting to see what the "edge" looks like.

They are already past the Moon and on their way home. They are in the return phase.

Wow, how did they fit that piano in the spacecraft?

Little known history on Victor Glover Sr. My dad, grandfather and I all worked and retired from the same police department (Pomona PD, Ca.) Victor Glover's father (Sr.) worked for. My father worked side by side with him as his sergeant for many of his years  and when I came on Victor was Capt. and near retirement. We nick named him...'Astronaut maker'. Here is a shot of his father from years ago...

Arguably the most dangerous phase still to come.

The Artemis II Orion spacecraft is scheduled to re-enter Earth's atmosphere on Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 00:53 BST (Saturday morning), with splashdown in the Pacific Ocean occurring shortly after at 01:07 BST on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Here is the breakdown of the final return schedule in BST (British Summer Time):
  • Entry Interface (Re-entry start): April 11, 00:53 BST (Friday 10 April, 19:53 EDT/16:53 PDT).
  • Splashdown: April 11, 01:07 BST (Friday 10 April, 20:07 EDT/17:07 PDT).
The capsule will land off the coast of San Diego, California, following a 10-day mission.

All home safely. A very successful mission, records beaten and only a few minor issues.

Some nice photos too. The 10 year old Nikon D5s did well, their low light capability came in very handy.

Many might not realise that the "Hello Earth" photo of the entire Earth was shot while the Earth was in darkness, during the night. The D5s low light capability making it look like daylight.
