  • Thanks Ray, it is not just the servers, those are actual by far the cheapest on our bill. The raw-data is far more expensive to get and we use regular 100% of the donations to conver a big part of tho

For those of you who have installed multiple AIG airlines there’s a very useful utility for checking the integrity of those airlines etc. Ai Companion will scan all the relevant files and report

@Kaiii3, thanks for explaining how AIG works. Hopefully those reading this will examine their consciences and get their credit cards out. You only fully appreciate what you have when it’s no long

Mainly because of the comments by some!  I might look into it if Plan A fails.  Or perhaps FSLTL will find a work around.  I will even go back and have a look at default ATC for traffic and run BATC alongside like I do now w/ FSLTL.

Preparing to install AIG for the first time, have watched tutorials by RobAir Epic Flights which are excellent.
In the following video, (January 2025) he strongly advises using a custom install location to avoid issues relating to long file names.
Before proceeding further, just checking if this advise is still relevant or has an update to the software addressed this issue?

I installed the relevant files as per the instructions in the video above, then tried to download the Europe files - nothing much happened. Took two hours just to download the first airline.....The video guy above claims downloading Europe takes about an hour.

Maybe the server is overloaded?

I skipped Europe and downloaded Global and it took about 6 hours.

I downloaded about 300 more GA FPs yesterday and they all mostly downloaded pretty quickly.

An hour long install instruction video?  (I get that some of it is testing later on, but it is still very long).  Maybe I'll hold out hope for an 11th hour solution in FSLTL.  Even the download is confusing.  You just have to know to download the beta from Github (I almost installed the old version).

However free is the right price.

Their servers don’t run for free. If you appreciate the work the developers do then a donation would be gratefully accepted. I’ve made two in appreciation of their efforts over the 8 years I’ve been using their stuff.

Robert says in his video download time will vary depending on internet speed and other factors but good to have the heads up - thanks.

I started my install earlier tonight and things are mostly working.  I fired up JFK with 100% traffic and there was tons of traffic!  It definitely takes some work, but as most said, it is worth it.  Installing all the global traffic only took maybe 2 hours, it wasn't bad at all.  Just had it running in the background.  I have good internet so it didn't seem bad.

For anyone on the fence, I would say go for it, with a few words of advice:

-Make sure you get the version of traffic manager from github and not their main download site (that was so confusing).  You should have 1.3+.  Inside there's a tutorial pdf, definitely read it before doing anything.

-Read the FINE manual first.  Maybe even watch the video posted earlier (you don't need the full hour).

-Leave yourself lots of time to download and take your time with everything.

When you installed the OCI, did you use the default path or choose a custom one?

For those of you who have installed multiple AIG airlines there’s a very useful utility for checking the integrity of those airlines etc.

Ai Companion will scan all the relevant files and report on missing textures and other anomalies. Blank textures result in a naked aircraft. If that’s something you’d like to be aware of the program can be downloaded from here.

Thanks Ray, it is not just the servers, those are actual by far the cheapest on our bill. The raw-data is far more expensive to get and we use regular 100% of the donations to conver a big part of those yearly payments, while the Team internally covers the rest. The ammount we pay has drastically increased over the last years (like with every other service world-wide). In fact we might start looking around at different data-providers to see if we can find a btter plan that covers our needs at a lower price. At the moment we had a 1 time pay for all the data-plan, this makes it very expensive but it is a "fire and forget", no need to think about the number of airlines to update. Provider like FR24 or FA provide their API on a request basis, we would have pay for each request/response making it far more unpredicable in the long run.

@Kaiii3, thanks for explaining how AIG works. Hopefully those reading this will examine their consciences and get their credit cards out.

You only fully appreciate what you have when it’s no longer available. Lots of people making a modest contribution goes a long way to ensuring AIG remains commercially viable for many years.
