Introducing Live and Scheduled Traffic

We are pleased to announce that FSHud - Traffic, a new built-in traffic source for FSHud - Air Traffic Control, is planned for release in the next few days.

FSHud - Traffic will bring both live traffic and scheduled traffic directly into FSHud - Air Traffic Control, without requiring any additional installation. It will work with any installed traffic model package and will provide a more realistic and dynamic traffic environment directly through FSHud - Air Traffic Control.

The live traffic system will provide coverage of approximately 80% of live commercial flights, with traffic data refreshed every minute. This will allow FSHud - Air Traffic Control to use real-world live flights as part of the simulator traffic environment, reflecting aircraft that are actually flying in the real world at that time.

In addition to live traffic, FSHud - Traffic will also include scheduled commercial traffic by airport. This will include most commercial arrivals and departures, synchronized with live traffic to provide realistic airport activity even where live traffic coverage is not available.

FSHud - Traffic will also support traffic based on the selected Flight Simulator time. When this option is used, schedules and a live traffic snapshot matching the selected simulator time will be used, allowing users to fly with traffic that better fits their selected time of day.

The feature will be compatible with MSFS 2024, MSFS 2020, Prepar3D v4, v5, and v6. It will also be possible to combine FSHud - Traffic with other traffic sources, allowing users to use it as the main traffic source or as an additional traffic source together with their existing setup.

Due to intensive cloud usage and live traffic provider costs, FSHud - Traffic will be available as a monthly subscription for 2.90 USD per month, with a free 1-week trial available for every user with an FSHud - Air Traffic Control license, including legacy licenses purchased from distributors such as Flight1 and Aerosoft.

An active internet connection will be required at all times while using FSHud - Traffic.

FSHud - Traffic is expected to be released in the next few days.

We are working on it and checking the available options for GA traffic. Once we have a reliable way to support GA traffic properly, we will include this option as well.

Reading the announcement I'm wondering if core FSHud will still work with traffic injected into MSFS from third party sources without a Traffic license ?

Could FSHUD run in 'AI Offline' Mode so we could use GAMOD alongside it?

This is an additional feature that will be introduced alongside the existing features.
We have always provided support for all FSHud - Air Traffic Control features, and this will remain unchanged.
Moreover, as part of the work on this upcoming traffic feature, several major improvements have also been made to the existing traffic sources.

As far as I know, GAMOD is compatible with FSHud - Air Traffic Control when using simulator traffic interception mode.
So yes, as mentioned in the announcement, multiple traffic sources can be combined in the same way they are combined today, including the new FSHud - Traffic feature.

Awesome thanks, I'll have a think about it 🙂

Do aircraft actually get pushed back from the gate now? Or do they still do an instant 180 turntable rotation at the gate.

just bought BATC but not satisfied yet so i'll get this too. i like the look of the UI.

Tryed Fshud again this morning at KSAN. Shut it down when it told me to taxi to runway 09. 09 is pretty much Never used at KSAN

@jhnWik At this stage, FSHud - Traffic is focused on commercial flights only.

Medical/lifeguard flights, GA traffic, military flights, and other special traffic types are not part of the initial traffic coverage. We are actively looking into options to expand this in the future and add more traffic categories where technically possible.

@simsuper80  @bmarcoux2 Improvements such as more advanced pushback/gate behavior and more detailed airport-specific runway logic are also on the list of things we would like to improve.

As always, development priorities have to be balanced between many requested areas — adding more traffic types, improving AI behavior, improving voices, and refining airport/runway handling.
We will continue improving these areas as priority and technical feasibility allow.

Wow, very interesting, I’ll definitely give it a try. A couple of questions: does the live traffic follow real-world ATC, including the actual runways and SID/STAR procedures in use at that specific moment, or is it managed independently by the FSHud ATC system? Also, in terms of performance, can the live traffic density be adjusted or optimized to achieve a good balance between realism and smooth performance?

Live traffic is managed independently by FSHud - Air Traffic Control according to airport configuration and other factors used by FSHud, such as separation.
There is also no guarantee that aircraft will keep the exact same position or the same arrival/departure queue order.
If the live traffic is an enroute aircraft, its flight level will be preserved in most cases.
This happens because we currently do not have flight plan information for each flight or exact active runway information for each airport, so these values are calculated by FSHud.

Regarding traffic amounts, you can control them in the same way as any other traffic amount settings, such as maximum active and parked aircraft.
