Would you mind elaborating. (I don't have any major problems, especially with Nvidia).

I had to roll back to 581.94 because the few I tried after that was causing a periodic flicker/graphical glitch which was extremely annoying. I don't know if anyone else has had that issue but I haven't seen anyone else complaining so it may just be me. I haven't tried the last few releases and will probably wait until the next fully stable one is released. I follow a guy on reddit in the nvidia thread who test each driver and posts recommendations.

Pretty petty IMHO. I wound up mass installing everything into P4 and 5 and backing everything up to a backup drive. I still use 4 and 5 on a pretty regular basis.

  • I'll leave this link here to the PTP opener I've used that seems to work well - you will need to manually install the livery after it's unpacked them, but at least it is GUI. https://gofile.io/d/G4OA

Request have been made for PTP functionality off the server. I've seen no PMDG response to this. As with most things P3D my guess is the answer is NO. My humble opinion is, if they thought they could

UPDATE:

LATE but it is officially over for OC2 and by extension, all P3D PMDG products.

For those of you who still haven't found a ptp decompiler, there is one on AdamJPestridge's Discord server. You can find the link to join on his YouTube channel.

Although I dislike Discord, I see that, in this case, there's no option left. Go to his Discord>free-flight-sim-assets.

And hope no one posts about this in the PMDG Discord. Knowing people, anything can happen 🤦🏻‍♂️

Usually I'm a lurker on forums these days, but this just really struck a wrong chord with me. First they miscommunicate the date, OC2 was completely shut off today, 4 days earlier than the May 31st timeline. Then, Mathijs on the PMDG forums says that there are no plans to bring any P3D products to OC3. Anyone still using PMDG products in P3D are essentially swindled of their money and the product they rightfully paid for and have the right to use, 4 days before the expected date. The very least they could have done is released an end-of-life update to either disconnect it from OC2, or released official solutions for livery installation. Unbelievably scummy behavior.

Another non-command line ptp opener is floating around too. Can share link if anyone interested

Lol wut!? Adam posted this himself on the PMDG forums.

Incredibly, nothing has happened 🤷‍♂️

I've just checked. I don't know how to say this in English, but you can definitely see his anger (specially considering PMDG locked a thread he opened some days ago) 😂

Hopefully PMDG can keep caring a not-allowed-word about P3D and leave us and our workarounds alone.

Hopefully this is allowed. In a similar fashion to VHOJT, I've prepared a Python script which will download the liveries from PMDG's CDN in the same way that OC2 did. Feel free to review the source of run.bat and src/main.py.

PMDG: you did ask that nobody redistribute the liveries and, in the legal sense, I'm not redistributing them. However, if you'd like for me to pull this script down then please let me know here or tag me in your Discord server. I've shared this because, frankly, the PTP extractors are a bigger concern in my view since they expose a private password used by PMDG.

To run:

Simply install Python (you'll be prompted to do so if the script doesn't detect it) and then launch run.bat

Frankly, I'm frustrated with PMDG's poor communication around the impact this change would've had and I didn't expect the offline PTP livery installation functionality to be impacted.

In the absence of such then I presume that PMDG will have no objections to said liveries being rehosted elswhere so they can continue to be enjoyed by their paying customers (presumably in non-ptp form if that is being disabled for good).

I did offer to host the PTPs for PMDG to distribute throughout the remaining P3D community-base and unfortunately they said the liveries are copyrighted. I'm unsure as to who exactly is the copyright holder, since the liveries will have been contributed by many different livery makers, but that is the response I was given.

The good thing is, we can open PTP files and have inibuilds, Tavers, Tank etc. liveries which are often better quality than the provided repaints anyway.

If anyone is looking for particular colours, many of us I am sure backed up the PMDG ones (myself included), so if you are keen for certain colours, I am sure someone can help if you post in this forum :)

Has anyone tested PMDG's 777 download to see if the installers are updated yet?

That is more or less what I expected unfortunately.

As other users have already noted, I expect there will ultimately end up being other avenues for sufficiently determined simmers to acquire these.

For one valid avenue, see my response prior to the one that you quoted - that'll allow you to download the liveries by way of the same process that OC2 used 😉
