[14MAY26] PMDG Update

Featured Replies

The best! the free 2024 upgrade for existing owners of the DC-6.

I was just about to start a thread on this, too. Wonderful news about the DC-6. It's the aircraft that persuaded me to look at this new Microsoft 2020 simulator thing, and abandon P3D. Can't wait for the 2024 version - thank you, RSR!

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

That’s excellent news about the DC-6.

13600KF - AIO - 32GB DDR4 - RTX4070 - UW1440p GSync - USB DAC - 2TB NVMe - Windows 11 Pro - Gladiator NXT EVO - 1 Gbps Fiber  - MSFS 2024

And while we're on the topic of DC-6- if you have been getting comfortable flying the 737 and 777 of late, you might want to grab the DC-6 so that you can practice stretching out the thumb and pinkie finger to get all FOUR throttles... Cuz that is gonna be a thing in your life again.

This is the sentence Im most interested in. I take it that this is referring to the 747.

After PMDG's most recent update, all my flight control settings were affected.

Intermittent performance issues, PFS loss, and stutters. Before their update, everything was silky smooth.

The same problem with the elevator electrical trim remains unresolved, and the airplane still cannot be trimmed below 500 ft.

On the Boeing 777, there is no specific operational requirement that prevents the use of the elevator electrical trim from takeoff until 500 ft AGL. The system is fully operational and designed to automatically assist with pitch control.

For some reason (I will simplify), they don't understand that the control wheel trim switches work as in conventional airplanes, plus this new FBW system's integration with speed trim logic. This system takes the pilot's inputs, which are interpreted electronically, and multiple computers monitor the trim commands. Excessive or unsafe trim inputs are limited. Here, there is a total misunderstanding of the system, where trim functionality is severely limited, or there is an intermittent, unnecessarily heavy elevator load, or it goes in the other direction, becoming overly sensitive, NOT IN THE REAL AIRPLANE. The airplane can be flown with only two fingers on the yoke, with very smooth, stable flight control responses. Such a dream to fly.

I don't think they have the capabilities or knowledge to fix this.

At one point, I was dual-qualified on both the 747 and the 777. Surprisingly, I favored the 777 in some handling aspects. What they did to this airplane is entirely frustrating and does no justice. It's a real shame.

747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

PMDG pushed out another update. I was having the Simbrief issues that this patch fixes.

This is Build 4.0.051

  • Correction to simBrief flight plan loading corruption introduced in Build 4.0.050

NOTE: Please be sure to review change list for build 4.0.050, as that change list covers the more comprehensive changes for this cycle. This update is a targeted fix that is only a single localized change.
