It's possible their settings got out of sync somehow but I've never seen that. June 30Jun 30 Well Lads I dont know what to say, PG is supposed to be off, That was a big thing for performance gain when I was initially tweaking settings after switching from 2020 -> 2024 a couple months ago. If an SU update turned it back on, that would be strange, but not unheard of. I'll confirm tonight. Looking at the glass building on the left in the Bridge picture gives it away though, its matching Ryan's PG ON picture. I suppose I'm even more puzzled by the fact that PG might be on but my performance is OK now? FWIW, comparing Ryan's two screenshots, I think the PG OFF one looks better/cleaner, certainly brighter without the shadows and grey detail, but the more I stare at it, but more uncanny it looks. The Buildings dont feel as real as the PG ON versions, even if those are melty MSI Aegis R | Intel i7-14700F | NVIDIA RTX 4060 | 1TB NVMe | 32GB RAM | Windows 11

Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. Eye of the beholder, in the end.

However, before everyone starts saying "I told you so", it has to be remembered that these shots are not at very close range. The real issue that I have with PG is when it is close to an airport, and this is where the "warping", low resolution textures, and "melted buildings" issues become obvious. That is something that I can never accept. The "autogen only" option looks perfectly fine to me from inside the cockpit, so that is why I use it. That occasionally happens with the cloud, or if you use autofps or any UI mods. But you can see how ugly and generic most of the smaller buildings are with PG off. In my area of the world (midwest USA), disabling PG means I get a lot of red roofed square buildings (far too many of them) - and it's just so ugly. The slightly melted TIN/PG is worth it to me as it's only really ugly below about 500' agl imo.I do agree that typically disabling PG yields better performance though. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
Friday at 03:56 PM3 days I was able to confirm, PG was ON in those shots. Which is weirdly good news in a way, as the performance seems to be fine with it on, so I'm leaving it on for now. I was worse when I was initially setting up 2024 so I had it off, not sure when it turned back on. One thought I had was when I was testing VR mode out, as that has its own settings, it might have been enabled, then switching out of VR mode left it turned on, as the PG setting itself is in the Online submenu and not the Graphics submenu. It is funny though how jarring the difference can be in some places, and much less so in others. The London examples here could go either way, but with PG off, in Toronto for example, the CN Tower and Skydome disappear completely for me :( MSI Aegis R | Intel i7-14700F | NVIDIA RTX 4060 | 1TB NVMe | 32GB RAM | Windows 11

With PG off, the sim uses autogen buildings so you will lose any unique building structures as the sim will just place generic building models although footprints should be similar to real world.. SamScene did nice rendition of the city of Toronto that I use...I actually enjoy flying in/out of CYYZ. Saturday at 12:15 AM3 days I understand that some have a focus on scenery/realism of their surroundings and thats true for VFR people (im one of them as well). But for the most part, the melted buildings only look obvious whilst zooming from a distance. Some cities are better than others and a part of me believes it's related to server/internet speeds sometimes. I tried PG off and gained nothing for performance and everything looked too generic for me. 7800+4090+64ram Just Flight RJ, 146 and F28, Piper Arrows ---A2A Aerostar and Comanche---Black Square Starship, Duke(s), TBM, Bonanza/BaronV2, KingAir---FSReborn FSR500---COWS Da42---FX P180, HJet & VJet---FlySimWare Chancellor and LearJet---FlightSimStudio EMB175 &P2006T---Fenix 320---PMDG DC6, 737(700+900), 777---C22J---Milviz Cessna 310 & Porter---SimWorksStudios Kodiak, PC12, Zenith & RV14---BigRadials Goose---IndiaFoxEcho MB3339+F35.
