September 4Sep 4 Hi flyersI have a 4070 Super, a 4k monitor, a 7800X3D Cpu and 64 Gb Ram. I am waiting for the Super series to be launched so I am not limited to 12 Gb of Vram. Please can any GPU and FS2024 users who own a 4070 Super, play at 4k resolution and use DLSS quality preset M let me know:a) Do I just need the Nvidia App (I am aware this replaces Nvidia control panel) for my various FS2024 settings? If yes, what settings do you recommend for the 4070 Super?b) Do I need to adjust anything in Nvidia inspector too? If yes, what settings do you recommend for the 4070 Super? Thanks in advance
September 4Sep 4 Hopefully you will get a few replies but I would say that a video card with 12 gb VRAM is not really sufficient to run MSFS at 4K. I have an RTX5080 with 16 gb VRAM and that is barely sufficient for me at a resolution of 1440. An RTX5090 would be the ultimate choice, but who can afford those prices, so compromises have to be made. If you want to use 4K, I suspect that you are going to have to use pretty dummed down settings but at 1440, yoou may be able to run with high and perhaps a few ultra settings. Tell ChatGPT or Gemini about your system and it will give you a pretty good starting point. September 4Sep 4 I have a 4070 (not Super) 12 GB. I run two monitors joined together with Nvidia Surround, both monitors are 1440p. The number of pixels:Standard 1440p (16:9): 2560 × 1440 (~3.69 million pixels)Double-Wide 1440p (32:9): 5120 × 1440 (~7.37 million pixels) <this is meStandard 4K (16:9) 3840 × 2160 (~8,29 million pixels)So, I am running almost the same as a 4K single wide monitor. I run DLSS Quality with no issues. DLSS FG is set at 2X (AMD FG is poor quality compared to Nvidia DLSS FG).My monitor is 165 hertz. 165 divided by 4 is 42fps. I lock fps (maximum framerate setting) at 21 in msfs settings and fps reads out at 42. Solid. It does not waver during a flight more than 1 or 2 fps. I get no hesitation or stutter when panning views. 42 is not bad when it is locked in at a number relating to monitor display hertz. I do not have and I do not use Gsynk or Fsynk.I don't use the Nvidia app. But if you do install it, Nvidia control panel will be removed automatically. So, just download Nvidia control panel from MS store and you have it back. And then you can use both the Nvidia app and Nvidia control panel at the same time with no issues. I have done that for about a year with no issues. I then removed Nvidia app because I have no use for it. I need nvidia control panel in order to use Nvidia Surround to make 2 monitors lock together as 1 (without bezel distortion). September 4Sep 4 I don't use preset L or M. I use K. K is the happy fps setting. I'll let those with expensive 5090s use M. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. September 4Sep 4 I have that exact card and run at full 2K but 4K was always pushing the limits, it was just better to output at 2K. MSFS 2024. Most settings are on Ultra, but Texture Resolution is on high. The limiting factor in most cases is the VRAM of 16 GB. I limit the native framerate at 30 fps, which is doubled to 60. I can't detect any stutters. TLOD and OLOD are set to 150, although Autofps lets me go up to 300 if I want. I 'm pretty much satisfied with the default airports, although I do have one for testing, the Ini KLAX. As suggested above, I used ChatGPT to guide me through the setup. It quickly led me to what seems like a most satisfactory level of performance. In HDR, it's really a work of art. That really made a big difference. Can't believe I actually forgot thatFor sure. Sorry. I capped it at 45 and it never goes below. ( Have DLSS Frame Gen at X3. )Use frame Gen but let NVIDIA figure out the K L M what ever.and AutoFPS is necessary. But I never or almost never have problems with stutters or FPS causing me problems.I Have an LG C5 40 inch / 144hz 64 ram / 7 98X3DMakes my posts here kind of useless. I'm interested in this thread as I have a 470ti super with 16gig of ram with a 32" 1440p monitor. I get a rock solid 60fps with 2x FG on mostly ultra settings and am wondering if I can realistically run a 4k monitor.
September 4Sep 4 5060ti 16gb is a good $400ish gpu these days. Mine runs in the 70s also for vram.Cool temps.dd Edited September 4Sep 4 by Sky_Pilot071

Also autofps is so much better now.Lots of people seemed to have trouble running 4k when I looked into it.Truth is I saw very little difference between running 2k and 4k fps wise Too many people saying not to do it for me recommend it. I however was pleasantly surprised by the results.Buyer beware is certainly fitting here Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
September 6Sep 6 With respect to running MSFS 2024 at 4K with a 16 gig video card, the buyer should be aware but not beware. I run the game on an LG 37 in 4K display with an RTX 4080 Super (16 gig VRAM) and it runs very well with FPS locked at 30 and jacked up to 60 with no stutters at 2X FG. Be aware: As others have noted, texture resolution should be set at High, not Ultra. But most other graphics settings can be run at Ultra or High. AutoFPS is also required to make TLOD adjustments when needed on the fly to preserve VRAM capacity. By setting base TLOD at 150 or 200 in AutoFPS, that app will permit TLOD to reach 300 or 400 in less challenging scenery and manage TLOD and VRAM nicely in challenging scenery without introducing stutters. You can monitor your VRAM usage in AutoFPS, and doing that, I find that I can maintain FPS at 58-60 with VRAM usage not exceeding 87% in challenging sceneries. With these conditions in mind, I would recommend 4K on a 16 gig GPU.Rich
September 6Sep 6 Nvidia app does not replace Nvidia control panel. They both can be used at the same time, no problem at all. After installing Nvidia app, go to the MS store and download NCP. Easy 2 minute job. In 2D, I use NCP to enable Nvidia surround. I can also use the Nvidia app at the same time to do anything at all. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
