no, we're a little more stringent. there can't be a plane < 2.1 (i think) miles landing on your runway, and no plane on your runway, before you're told to taxi into position and hold.that follows the more stringent rule, two airplanes can't be on the same runway at the same time

here is some more tower stuff -you won't be cleared to taxi into position and hold, if there is a plane on the runway, landing or departing. also, if a plane is on final, you will stay put. once it is clear, you will be told to taxi into position and hold.recently we discovered a problem with ai planes taxiing across your runway. we won't clear you for takeoff until it's safe.departure - no more s turns in departure. those used to occur at big airports during busy times. everything else, pretty much the same. you will hear other departing ai aircraft checking in with departure. if departure and arrival share the same freq at the airport, you will hear arriving ai planes contacting arrival. you will hear departing ai aircraft calling the appropriate center, on the proper frequency for the sector he is entering.when it comes time for you to contact center, we'll figure out what sector you're in, and the proper frequency, and pass you off to centercenter -there will be realistic sector to sector handoffs, as well as stratum handoffs and center handoffs. if the frequency is the same from one sector to the next, you will not have to change frequency.one of the things that has changed is the crossing restriction. in previous versions you always crossed at 10 or 15. if it is a high altitude airport, it will stay 15. at other airports, you will be given either a 11,000 ft crossing restriction or a 12,000. this is based on the runway that was chosen, or you chose. if the runway is a straight in approach, or an approach that would involve simply a turn to base and then to final, you will get the 11000 crossing. if the runway is going to involve a downwind, base and final, we'll leave you at 12000 for awhileone benefit of this, you get to keep your speed up as you cross.another thing we did for the fmc'ers, we made the first descent clearance given by atc, discretionary. if you are cruising along at 330, and you're told to descend, a menu item that asks if you can have that at your discretion is available. that way you can stay higher, and descend when the fmc tells you to descent. you will still be expected to meet your crossing restriction.as mentioned earlier, holding can now be selected as always on, always off, or weather related. weather related involves the weather, how many arrival runways, what time of the day, etcas far as chatter goes, you will hear atc talking to other ai planes, switching them from sector to sector, center to center, stratum to stratum, from center to arrival. you will also hear new ai checking into your sector.back to the crossing restrictions, there are now 4 possible combinations. what we call "old" crossing restriction (when the last checkpoint is within 5 miles of the arrival airport, and you will hear the clearance as "cross 40 miles from x at 10000 and 250 knots") and new crossing restriction (when the last checkpoint is outside 5 miles from the airport, and you hear the clearance "start down now, i need you level in 30 miles or less...")now you have nearside (11000 crossing restriction), and farside (12000 crossing restriction). that's 4 possible combinations. that should keep you on your toes.approach -totally new, and improved vectors. much much much closer in to the airport. many thanks to captain trig (john burgess) for working out the trig for me, while we were in denver last september at the avsim conference.ai chatter everywhere. ai contacting approach from center, approach switching ai to tower. if the departure and approach freq are the same, you will hear departing ai contacting departure, and departure switching them to center.profile descent will enter into both approach and center, but no details yet.tower - some pretty big stuff here. ai traffic behind you going faster, will be slowed to a speed less than yours. ai traffic in front of you going slower will be issued go arounds, and they will get out of your way. ground ai on your runway will not be cleared onto the runway with you on short final. that will cut down on your go arounds. if a landing plane in front of you doesn't get off the runway fast enough, you will get a go around, sorry. ai chatter, you will hear the tower telling the plane behind you going faster to slow down. you will hear the plane in front going slower be given a go around. you will hear ai planes being told to hold short, or exit the next high speed, etc. once you've landed, the ground ai for your runway are thawed out, and return to their activities.ground - nothing much new here. ground is ground. but you will hear the ai chatter for ai planes on ground frequency being told where to taxi to (either a runway or a gate).i'm sure there is stuff i forgot, i will update as it occurs to mejd

Hi,ah okay, no problem.Conditional clearances are prohibited since may 2004 in germany anyway. As far as i remember the reason was that a ATR taxied into position in munic while a another aircraft was on short final, they missed by just a few meters. The US way of handling this is maybe the safer one. :)janosch

Hello,I am still use fs2002 and my question is. will RCv4 works with fs2002? I hope so, am use RCv3 in my fs2002. But i am looking greatful for RCv4 who shall works with ai-planes.With regards,William Ista

Will RC4 be bound to pre-created adventures/flights? I have the other major releases, but am only using the product as a source for chatter in FD Companion as I like the spontaneity (ok, seeming spontaneity!) of the default ATC, even though it is incomplete.Noel

i haven't done adventures since v2. what version are you running?spontaneity of default atc? can you explain what that means?

jdI read all your comments with great interest and can see that you seem to have everything neatly tied up, at least all the things we guys are waiting for. Look forward immensely to seeing it's release.Best regardsTony

I bought version 3, and former versions. It's been so long since I had it running I don't recall exactly what prompted me to uninstall it. I'm thinking it must be because I felt the audio delivery was too unnatural *sounding* (versus content) or some other such issue. I know it's a great product for those committed to its greater accuracy from a content point of view. I think perhaps the default delivery was quicker and more believeable, if not as accurate. I may just reinstall it and see if my first impression doesn't stick. I had a slower machine then so perhaps it will function better now.Noel

Just a quick question from a newbye waiting version 4 in order to buy radar contact:Will radar contact fully support AI traffic?if so, does it use the traffic slider in fs9? I'm using projectAI aircrafts and speeding the communications with editvoicepack.RegardsLuca

i always am hesitant to say "support" when that means so many things to so many different people.i think in these v4 postings, i described what v4 will do to the ai plane. i talk to them, sometimes i move them out of the way, i alert you of their presence, etc.if you have 100% on the ai slider, then i will see 96 of the closest ai planes.does that help?jd

In a high density situation, can you intercede and divert some AI to a different parallel runway? AI tend to have messed up seperation anyway.I read about the AI traffic trend analysis feature you mentioned. Where parallel runways exist, can RC pick the one least congested (as long as you've got that far in your analysis)?

  • Commercial Member

on final, slower planes in front of you will be diverted out of your way, essentially getting a go aroundfaster ai behind you, will be slowed, so they won't overtake youi don't choose runways on usage. i pick a runway that the ai planes are landing on. if there are parallel runways, i pick the first one i see.jd

Thanks for the fast reply. So in essence 'support' is the wrong word:It would be more appropriate 'interface with AI traffic' and If I'm not mistaken I can use any AI airplanes and AI flightplans I want (so the current projectAI traffic plus custom traffic will be fine).I'll really be looking forward to the new release :)RegardsLuca

to me, ai is ai. doesn't matter what make or model. i see the closest 96, and if it is appropriate i talk to it, and i make them do thingsjd
