  1. How Much Bandwidth are you allowed?Whatever it is, I don't see near the amount of posts compared to when PMDG released their aircraft.I suggest you fire your hosts and get one that allows higher bandwidth without shutting you down. Here is one place that has great Prices, and well, just spanks the others IMHO.http://www.globat.com/packages/index.php?p...ges=terabytet03For $24.95 a month, coincidentally you get 4.5tb of bandwidth a Year, which is 400gb of Transfers a Month."A failure to plan is a plan to fail"Seems to be the mantra lately with these developers. I'll use the same analogy some use when referring to comparisons of products. You get what you pay for.Maybe developers should consider releasing their products mid-week instead of weekends when the hosts are out partying.
  2. Chase,The pumps, IMHO, will fail. This is a Cat 5 Storm, and I fear we may lose new Orleans altogether. The Grid in that area will be destroyed, and I don't think people should be heading to the Superdome either. Think of a Tornado hitting that dome continually for two hours or so. I have a bad feeling about that place. I hope it is just nerves for the people I see going in there.I saw a Storm Surge forecast of 20-30 feet. That would be a record for hurricanes in The United States. I think I heard 12014 was the previous. The Dikes and walls will fail, and the Problem is lake Ponch will be merged with the Gulf, and New Orleans may not be able to be pumped out, or if so, may take months to do so. The benefits of doing so may not be as good as the benefits of writing the area off. This could be the worst case scenario many have been talking about for decades. We can only pray at this point that the Cold Front Slams into this thing, and the winds dissipate as it turns North bringing it down to a Cat 4 or even a 3.It's Possible, but it's also possible this wind forecast will remain.Picture a 200 Mile Wide F3 Tornado that stays stationary for an hour or so. Tragic... An F3 just rolls on through. A Hurricane with Severe Tornado winds sustained for a couple of hours won't leave much left in its path.****************On another Point, fill up your cars with gas no matter where you are today. The rigs will sustain damage as they have in the past, and with prices where they are, they will go higher.Fill up with gas today, not tomorrow, for tomorrow they will spike throughout the week, IMHO.****************Take a Look at what Camille did in August, 1969, and compare the satellite pics with Katrina. It Doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out what this storm will be capable of doing. Take a close look down the page at the Apartment Complex.Camille Stats, and pics:http://www.geocities.com/hurricanene/hurricanecamille.htm**************Pressure now at 906mb, lower than what Camille had.Winds still 175mph sustained, moving NW at 13mph. This thing is too big to collapse much in teh next 14-16 Hours before she hits.Folks, we need to pray for those that are still there. May the Lord Bless them and keep them Safe. Amen.
  3. Hi all,I just heard on the Weather Channel the good Dr. telling us this storm has the second lowest pressure ever, (so far).Gilbert in '88 had the lowest, and had peak winds at 185mph.Katrina right Now has Max Sustained at 175mph with Gusts up to 215mph.This is a Major Category 5 Super Hurricane. If you are anywhere in its path, Please leave now. This is not some Minor Hurricane, this is the one they have feared for decades of Hitting Near New Orleans.Although the track is never 100% clear, wherever this things makes landfall won't have much left to see.I've assembled some links for our members to follow this massive tragedy in the making. 5. Hi Ron,Glad to see your taking it easy. :-)Enjoy your recovery time with some nice relaxing flights.Glad to hear your ok.Take care,Joe
  6. Hi Reggie,That is also another reason why I won't buy any scenery, photo, textures, roads, clouds, etc, whatever...Since the release date has not been announced, why pay for something that may or may not work in the next version. While some of the stuff is pretty good, I think it is a bit late in the cycle, and some may be disappointed paying for something that may be included in the next version.I can wait, no biggie here, I still get plenty of enjoyment with what I have.Sonar5
  7. > Do I need Net Framework installed to run this aircraft?>>DougHey Doug,You apparently need .netHere are the req's, if anyone is wondering because of a slightly older system.From:http://www.eaglesoftdg.com/"For Windows XP with at least SP1 and Windows .Net Framework 1.1, FS9.1, Direct X "C"File Size: 30.04 MBMinimum System Recommendations: Windows XP/FS9,2.6 GHz Pentium or AMD CPUwith 512 MB DDR RAM,3D AGP or PCI Express Video card with 128 MB DDR Ram,128-bit Direct X Sound Card or On Motherboard Sound, Latest Direct X, Video, and Sound Drivers,17" to 19" Monitor"That is what the site said. I also wonder why they don't list a specific AMD CPU, as a 2.6ghz Pentium is way slower than a 2.6 Athlon, in my Opinion, and many others. I for instance have a o/c Athlon 3000 that that is much faster than a 2.6ghz Pentium :-) I wish developers would at least quantify those statements. If anything I will wait for the SR22 to be released if I buy it at all.I was honestly thinking about giving it a try today, and then I remembered they will also be selling a SR22. I figured why waste money on the SR20 when I have the classic panel freeware one, and then have to pay more for a SR22 later on. It will be interesting to see what the additional features, if any, will be in the SR22 when it is released.Guenter had stated they are working on a freeware SR22 with Glass, but not much has been said on it since he released his version of the SR20 in April. It seems their Glass Panel designer suddenly decided to stop working on it for personal reasons we may never know of. At least Guenter stated it was for personal reasons back then. Who Knows.Anyway, I hope that answers your question. :-)Sonar5
  8. Well, maybe that should have been said in the release instead of leaving people hanging without any explanation which is what they are still doing. There are new threads over there for support that are being ignored, and there is no way for other members to be able to find that statement juts out of luck wanting to read every thread about the commander. They dropped the ball, and now they are kicking it down the road with their silence in my opinion. That statement is a total CONTRADICTION compared to what is included in the statement that is part of the installation process and documentation included within the release. That's my last post about the commander in this thread. if someone wants to start another thread, I'll be happy to outline the problems that have been outlined.Sonar5
  9. >>>The only thing I noticed is when you deploy the parachute>after an entire enigne failure, the plane can enter a spining>motion before stabalizing (sometimes inverted). I don't know>if Active Camera has something to do with this or not. Never>using one of these systems in real life, I don't know if this>is normal behavior or not. But the recovery parachute is>really a cool thing!>Hi Scott,That's odd, I was under the impression that "the airplane should NOT do a LOOP as the chute is deployed along with sundry other tweaks needed while under canaopy."Did it loop at all? An Inversion is pretty close to a loop, in my opinion, and not a desirable experience. And why is it spinning?I was under the impression from past posts here that they had a "challenge developing the FDE so that the action of the CAPS deployment results in some very realistic behaviour."Just Wondering if that is considered realistic based upon what was said here in the past. Thanks,Joe
  10. Hi all,I uploaded a video a while back, June 1st, of the Freeware Cirrus SR20 deploying its BRS Ballistic Parachute System.Edited for content by forum mod-JC.You can Download the Excellent FREEWARE Cirrus SR20 right here in the Avsim Library.Freeware SR20 Here:http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=66089There are also some repaints available:Repaints:http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...atID=fs2004acrpEnjoy,JoeGrab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  11. >I think you guys better go back and grab FSD's package if you>want a Commander with no problems... :-rollGood Point,I own the FSD Commander, and still fly it. It is one fine aircraft. And the graphics are top notch for when it came out, the developer has offered updates, and plenty of repaints too. Thank You FSD. :-)As for the Glass commander, it's pretty good. The glass is nice, but ignoring the consumers like they have is not what I would call Customer Service. The Install says go to the AOPA site Forums to ask questions. All one has to do is go there to see the silence as to the problems with this release. Pretty Sad.Sonar5
  12. Good Point, but I hope none of them work. Why?Because this is running on an old outdated engine and hopefully that is why there have been no announcements. Maybe we will get something new, but Somehow, I doubt we will. Backward compatibility is something that team has used to keep the franchise going as long as it has.But at some point, hopefully now, it has to start new again. As for the Developers, too bad. It's a business, and if they concentrate on single game add-on products, that was THEIR CHOICE, and they have to live with the consequences. I see no responsibility for the Microsoft Team to have to worry about them. They best worry about the consumers who buy their products. New ones will come along anyway, they always have and most likely always will.Besides, one could always do a dual installation, keeping your old ones on FS9, and enjoying the new technology, if any, of the next iteration of FS.Here is hoping our wish list of feature inclusions is realized.Sonar5
  13. Not only that, the Commander is full of bugs that have not even been addressed or in some cases even acknowledged. It's like that team is completely ignoring problems with the Commander.Set it up at Palm Springs and zoom out on the Terrain map.. Slide Show, and almost complete lock-up. What a Joke. :-lol
  14. Your welcome Mark. That is what makes this thread so great, in my opinion. You can usually come back and find something "New To You".I think visually that 152 is one fine aircraft that works very well in FS9, and it's a fun little aircraft to fly, or even for someone to practice procedures in if they are taking lessons.I did all my initial training to PPL in a 152. And for me, that plane will always have a soft spot in my heart.Glad you're enjoying it.Regards,Joe
  15. Hi,Thanks for the heads up on those. I haven't checked the thread in a bit, so thanks for adding those sites.Regards,Joe
  16. Sometimes ideas are just copied from old designs ones, huh? :-lol :-lolhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/125431.jpgWas just running through my old Pima Air Museum and AMARC Pictures and saw this one. Kind of reminded me of the 380.Anyway, you can see the other 240+ Pictures I took by viewing them here:AMARC and Pima Pics:http://www.pbase.com/sonar5/pimaamarc
  17. Hi Rob,As long as you are trying out programs, here is one you can use without any cost at all.It is called the Super Flight Planner by Alessandro Antonini. I've been using it for quite some time now, and it is 100% FREEWARE.You can read about it, and see screenshots, features, as well as download from their site:FREEWARE Super Flight Planner Page:http://www.cpinf.net/web/products.php?cat=1A Gallery of Screenshots is located here:http://cpinf.net/web/gallery/sfpI can also answer questions for you on its use, if you have any.Sonar5
  18. Hi Karl,Since you are just starting out, once you start thinking about add-ons, I recommend you peruse the thread I started linked below. It contains plenty of add-ons mostly General Aviation Aircraft which is what I mostly fly.Freeware Add-Ons thread:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchWithin in, you will find many recommendations from myself and others who graciously contributed to the list.If you have questions about any of them, just ask away in that thread, or start another one if you like.Sonar5
  19. Rob,No, I am not a mod. :-)But feel free to repost the thread, without the screenshot of course, if you want to. I will not comment on it whatsoever. :-)Sonar5[a href="http://www.freeplaymusic.com][br] Private Non-Commercial Music Use (Non-revenue generating or associated)[/a]
  20. Ron,Can I contact you through email to discuss something?Joe
  21. Actually,Commercial threads are allowed now, even in the screenshot forum, which is where it should have been posted in the first place.Had they not included the screenshot, the post was fine, in my opinion. That thread apparently had an image hot linked from a commercial site.In other words, a member linked to an image was on another site. And that is not allowed.Pretty clear about that in the rules thread.Regards,JoeGrab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  22. You answered your comment Barry.BUT the screenshot forum is for screenshots. You also stated:"This is the MS flight simulator forum and small pics as per the uploading limits set by Avsim are often relevant to explaining a subject of a posted thread."Maybe in some cases where a flaw, or bug in a product needs to be demonstrated, but not in blatant commercial advertisement, in my opinion. That thread was an ad for a commercial product, and had to do with a video to advertise said product. The screenshot doesn't belong in that thread, in my opinion. Let them abide by what has been the norm around here for MANY years. And cut the mods some slack here. I think they do a great job moderating here and if they let the precedent stand of screenshots in this forum, then that is what will happen. Constantly. I don't want that, but maybe others here do. But then some would say close the screenshot forum.Regards,Joe Grab My FREEWARE Voice recognition Profiles here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=58334]Cessna 172 Voice Profile[/a][a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fs2004misc&DLID=60740]FSD Avanti Voice Profile[/a].You will need the main FREEWARE Flight Assistant program to use it, get it here:[a href=http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=genutils&DLID=39661]Flight Assistant 2.2[/a]
  23. From the same cost article:"Was the hot weather in Phoenix and Las Vegas a factor in going with this color scheme? It certainly was. Many planes will be parked in two of the new airline
