  1. OOPS!! Just got home and tried to update and it worked.... then I saw all this talk about hotfix, so I assumed that there was one. Guess I should have bought a lottery ticket. A shame that getting MSFS to work properly is much like going to a casino...Update is still downloading so who knows..
  2. Resolved by hotfix. Before Hot fix I could not even find my MSFS in windows store without doing a search and then I only had option to 'play' the game and it never stopped to download anything....straight to welcome screen. Today I still had to search for MSFS, but it stopped to update in the MS store and now its downloading the actual update. keeping fingers crossed that I don't have anymore show stoppers. Thanks AmeliaCat, and others who tried to help. The flight sim community is awesome.
  3. I think its more than CTD because I am finally able to install the update.
  4. Has there been a statement saying Is there a statement from Microsoft / Asobo to this effect. If so please share.
  5. thanks for trying to help. I guess you didn't understand. I did that. MSFS does not show up.....till I search for it. and then it only gives me the option to 'play' the simulator and the rest is as I stated.
  6. I cant update I click MSFS start either from store or desktop icon. Software does its usual, checks for updates and continues to welcome page. It does not tell me or give any option to update. I go to content manager and it shows 'core' content greyed out though it says 'relaunch the game to update'. everything else says up to date. what is unusual to me is, when I go to MS store I don't see MSFS there I have to do a search and then it shows up telling me that I own the game and show an option to 'play' the game. Clicking play results in the scenario I shared above. If I search for updates in Windows store it shows all my Microsoft products except MSFS. It only shows when I do a search for it. I have signed out of the store. rebooted the system and signed back into MS store, same results. Ps. I removed all content of my community folder before launching MSFS. This is how I have always done MSFS updates. This is the first time I am having any problems updating MSFS and never had a problem installing or running the software before
  7. I suspect this is her first interaction with a flight simulator. As such she is not aware of what's most important to the 'hardcore' simmer.
  8. Hi , Thanks for trying to help. The situation is resolved; though I cant say what caused it or even what fixed it. I shut down the computer, disconnected all USB devices except mouse. Re started the system, ran MSFS, checked controller setting and did not see any thing listed except mouse and keyboard....shut down MSFS, ...shutdown windows....re connected all my USB devices and restarted the computer. I then ran MSFS... checked controllers setting and Alpha Flight control is there and touch pointer is no longer there. Set up a flight and all is back to normal... This is almost as puzzling as those folks switching to HDMI cables and now seeing rain drops when they couldn't before. PS I have always had HDMI cables and I am not seeing any rain on windshield when using live weather. (Pre sets work fine) I have also noticed over the past few days that sometimes the live time of the sim is off by minutes and sometimes up to an hour. Sometimes a MSFS re start corrects this, sometimes not. Not a show stopper but curious.
  9. Day before yesterday, I ran MSFS and shut it down. I had no problems and did a normal shutdown. Yesterday I fired up MSFS and found I had no response from my yoke....No axes movement, no button response. I went to controls setting...my Honeycomb yoke is missing. instead I now see a controller called 'Touch Pointer'. I have no clue what this is, I don't have a touch screen. my computer is a desktop. All my other controllers show up properly labeled and responds fine, The 'new' touch pointer, has no axes to set and the default setting has no assignments. I am unable to bind any key or button to 'touch pointer'; I mean that if I attempt to bind a key when I get the dropdown window to select an input, there are no 'inputs', to select. Further investigation, and I find that the Honeycomb yoke shows up in Windows10 Devices and printers, and allows normal calibration. I must admit that in my years of simming I have never seen this problem. Any help or advise appreciated. I have tried moving the controller to another USB port. I have disconnected the controller, re booted the computer and MSFS ('Touch Pointer') still shows up (with honeycomb disconnected). I believe I have to remove the 'Touch Pointer', which I think is renamed from 'Alpha flight control' but have no clue how to do so as it seems once a controller is 'found' in MSFS, there is no option to delete it. It seems I have a corrupted controller file but no idea what or where to find it. PS I am fairly certain that a re install is not the answer, because when I got a new computer a few days after MSFS was released, I did a fresh install of MSFS and was surprised to find that all my settings including my controller settings were the same as on my 'old' computer. This indicates that some configuration files are cloud based and tied to my MSFS account. I am using windows 10 Pro ver 2004 OS build 19041.572 experience pack 120.2212.31.0
  10. Thanks for sharing. This info should be in the tips forum, especially as there is no manual.
  11. It doesn't have retractable gear. It's a fixed gear airplane.
  12. I only have to wake mine when Windows starts. I went to device manager and disabled power management for everything USB and HUD. There is also a setting in advanced power management that can cause USB devices to go to sleep. (I forget what its called) If all this fails there is a registry edit that can do all this, I dont remember where I saw this but I suspect a google search may provide some results. Just be careful of files that edit your registry, because if it goes bad, a windows re install may be in your future.
  13. Could you share how you 'nudge' the plane. also is didn't know the airplane can be changed in flight, could anyone in the 'know' share how to do this?
  14. It is for this reason that I ordered the fulcrum. Elevator axes of the honeycomb too stiff and too short. It is better than the CH yoke I used before; I got the honey comb based on all the hype, but if the fulcrum feels better, the honeycomb may be on ebay soon.
  15. So very true. We used to say that single engine on the apache was only for a longer glide than engine failure in a C172.
  16. I also have this problem and I am not using SPAD I am using the honey comb yoke. I can only start by using the mouse.
  17. Am I the only one that thinks that, while there has been improvement in the overall feel of the aerodynamics, the elevator and rudder axes are still too sensitive? I use the Honey comb yoke and the Saitek cessna rudder pedals. Never thought I would ever say this but the Carenado c182 feels much better than any of the default offerings in the same category. The Bonanza, mod by Robert Young has also done wonders, but still doesn't feel quite right. I love this sim but very disappointed with the aerodynamics. I am also curious to know if there is any way to adjust the sensitivity of the elevator trim?
  18. They will probably have to introduce a system like what's used in American Truck Sim where depending on the order in which the mods are layered, determines priority.
  19. I agree. It seems something is wrong with weather server today. Same stormy weather all over the world today. May need an Ark.
  20. Gerald, I have sorted out the PPT problem by using FSUIPC7 to connect the DEL key to the button I wish to use on my Honey Comb yoke. My only problem now is re registration which I have been communicating with you about through email. I am the one that submitted a registration text file from a previous machine. PS. Thanks for allowing the use of this software with MSFS without additional cost to those of us who already have a licensed copy from a previous Sim. I truly appreciate your generosity.
