First flight after update.
Romeo_Tango replied to Bobsk8's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I guess most of us must have bought brand new junk PCs, that's a heck of a coincident. On top of which, those of us that run other apps eg. racing sims. have no problems with them. Just MSFS. Not to worry I drank the cool aid for a long time too. This last fiasco that has one again fixed some things, and broken another has me thinking, perhaps this sim is not ready for prime time. No wonder the 3star rating in the Microsoft store. Frustrated. -
Live weather down again?
Romeo_Tango replied to Ianrivaldosmith's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I understand that and even in best case scenarios don't expect it to be perfect. But, good lord when you go to a city, eg. Atlanta where you know its been sunny all day, expected to be for a week: you load a real time flight at 2pm and find what's close to being a thunderstorm, no forecast from any weather data can be that off. -
Flaps hotfix (1.13.17.0) is now live!
Romeo_Tango replied to ChaoticBeauty's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
+ 1 I haven't bothered to report to msfs. seems pointless. they will eventually fix this and then break something else. I was excited about the release of the title back in October, even though the leaks from testers suggested it wasn't ready. I still love it, but it has become a love hate relationship. In life, the only thing that is sure, is that death is a certainty. With MSFS the one thing we are certain of, is that every fix, update and feature add on will break something critical for some users while others have fun. -

No you are not the only one. It takes at least 2 attempts before I can load into a flight, and then within about 30 minutes I am guaranteed a CTD. -
Default Drone zoom level?
Romeo_Tango replied to STUART_H's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Just add to the pile of half done word not allowed in this Sim. I am an ardent supporter of MS getting back in the business, but I wish they released this as an early access app. I think I would have been more accepting of its shortcomings. Still I realize that MSFS is undoubtedly the future standard of home flight simulation. I know it will get better but right now its just not ready for prime time. Sim just crashed for no obvious reason. -
Live weather down again?
Romeo_Tango replied to Ianrivaldosmith's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Wouldn't it be nice if ONCE just ONCE we could get a download from MSFS that did what it was supposed to do, and did it without something else ending up being broken. I am in Roswell Ga. just north of KATL. Out my window its overcast. I load the sim at KATL with live time, traffic, and weather. The sim loads with a heavy rain and visibility so low I couldn't see past the little yellow pushback 'apparatus' (Don't know the proper name). I go back to the main menu, change settings to allow me to start with custom setting. I select live time and clear skies and spawn at same parking spot. I then select live weather. This time I get perfectly clear skies. I take the drone camera up. As far as the eyes can see there is not a cloud in the sky and not a knot of wind (wind sock) is dead. This sim is the most beautiful as far is scenery goes, but it is the most frustrating piece of software I have ever come across. Nothing seem to work consistently. Its always a word not allowed shoot you will have a good flight or any flight at all. its 50/50 chance that you end up with a CTD. The continuing saga is, live weather is broken. (More than it was previously). Happy days. Thanks MSFS -
Just Flight Piper Arrow III Preview
Romeo_Tango replied to CFIJose's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
K. Thanks for that info. I guess what you are implying, is that a developer knowledgeable enough could take advantage of this to add a little deeper simulation than the default airplanes do. -

I'm not at the sim at the moment, so cant check. are you saying that the circuit breakers on the default C152 can be pulled? -

Romeo_Tango replied to CFIJose's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
If the on off switch on the GPS unit works then I have no criticism; If it does not, I hope that the release version, is configured differently. (Pulling a circuit breaker is fine. Not a big deal, but personally takes away from the emersion for me. (These nuances explain why I love A2A products so much) -

Shouldn't the Gps be on the avionics bus, rather than be live when the master alone is on? I have seen a couple of videos previewing this aircraft and both seem to have the GPS live as the master is turned on. Cant remember seeing this either in sim or real airplane. ...Just curious. Still getting it regardless. -
But, it now takes off like a rocket, and if you taxi down the runway, with the throttles at idle, it will probably reach Vr in short order.

Drone control and aircraft control
Romeo_Tango replied to Romeo_Tango's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Thanks for the info. -
Thanks in advance for any advice. I use a X Box controller for the drone camera. This works well, but hate that I have no control of the airplane while the drone camera is active. Is there some way to maintain control of the airplane while using the drone camera ? I suspect there is someway to do what I want, but no clue how to set this up. I use yoke and pedals along with Saitek panels.

Yes. I have seen this quite a lot. -
Did they sneak in a Bing data update?
Romeo_Tango replied to ryanbatc's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
K. Must be one of the MSFS ghosts at work on my system again. I once had the copilot take control of my airplane without my consent. Took me days and a Windows 10 re install, and MSFS re install before I came across a post at another forum, where another poor soul was having the same experience, and finally figured that the co pilot feature was on and had taken full control of the airplane. -
Did they sneak in a Bing data update?
Romeo_Tango replied to ryanbatc's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Has Microsoft or Asobo officially advised that Bing data is automatically turned off by this latest update? just curious as I have been flying with the UK update installed for about three hours now, and only jus realized that Bing data was set to off. I wonder how many others are gleefully tooling around the virtual skies, not knowing that this setting has changed after the update. -
MSFS Broken after Update
Romeo_Tango replied to abennett's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Have you rebooted the computer. Had this after update, (not this update but the last one), a reboot and I was good to go. all the best. -
MSFS Broken after Update
Romeo_Tango replied to abennett's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I had this problem, but I also had rolling cache. I deleted rolling cache, rebooted the computer, started MSFS re set rolling cache, went to flight setup screen and loaded a flight from KATl and all has been good since. Don't know that this info helps but ...... perhaps a reboot is in order if you haven't done that yet. -
Post World Update 3 impressions
Romeo_Tango replied to cianpars's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I think there are texture changes all over the world. I too did see that the colors at KATL seem more vibrant. I then spawned at MKTP and saw the same thing. even the road textures seem better to me. Perhaps mind over matter as you are the only other person I see make this observation. It was so obvious to me I started a topic on the subject to see if I am just experiencing 'mind over matter'. Seeing your observation here makes me believe that there has been some scenery changes all over the world. Certainly see that the scenery spikes near Georgia Regional are now gone. -
Am I seeing things? or is it safe to say that textures have been updated all over the world? I spawned at KATL and the textures there (especially the ground) look different from pre Uk update. I also spawned at MKTP and the textures of buildings and roads surrounding the airfield is totally different. The one thing I did prior to running the updates, this time, was to delete my rolling cash data. This is something I did for the first time since my last install of MSFS which was just prior to the USA update. Whatever the reason I am happy so far. Off to go try in Vr now.

If you are referring FSUIPC, you don't have to do anything after configuring the devices. you start MSFS, select the airplane you want, and go fly. FSUIPC will automatically select the device and configuration you set for that particular airplane, or type of airplane depending on how you configured FSUIPC.
-
Not sure this is the correct place to post this but... I installed the latest Ver. 3.4 of the working title g1000 today. I am unable to adjust the screen lighting. This is true of all the airplanes that use the G1000. Everything else seems fine. Any guidance on how to fix would be appreciated. I figured it out.. I have UWA lights installed, and they need to be above the WT G1000 mod. At least with the ver. I have.

As have different throttle controllers for different types of aircraft; I use FSUIPC to set those up, as FSUIPC automatically saves configurations for each airplane. Ie. when I select a C172, only my TPM is activated as power controller and then only the throttle and mixture axes are active. When I select a multi engine the same is true for my Saitek I use MSFS setting for my Saitek Cessna pedals and Honeycomb yoke, so I have one setting for pitch, yaw and brake axes. This works for me. I fly Ga exclusively; not sure if this setup would work for the airliners as well.

Hi all At startup of MSFS, I see mention of different features of the USA update, which mentions a discovery flight. I expect I would find this under 'activities'. I have searched everywhere, even the lessons and landing challenge page, but haven't been able to find it. Could someone in the know advise me on how to get to it? Thanks in advance.
