  1. Hi Dave,Did you solve the problem? It is pity that the Yak-40 forum at Suprunovs site is gone but I made a copy of the most interesting topics, one of them and originally published by "Hinch" :Normally CTRL-E doesn't work with the virtual cockpit, but you can make this change:Open the file panel.cfg with notepad and go to the section "Window00" in the panel folder and select the "logic" gauge, it's the first gauge of the entire panel:"gauge00=sd_yak40_6015_v2_pa!logic, 0,0"and paste this row in the first VC window "VCocpit01" and renumber. The gauge part of this section should now read as:gauge00=sd_yak40_6015_v2_pa!logic, 0, 0gauge01=sd_yak40_6015_v2_vc1!mat_front, 0,0gauge02=sd_yak40_6015_v2_vc1!mat, 216,110and voila, Ctrl-E is working while in Virtual Cockpit, without to go first to the long load of the 2D-cockpit. At the forum Igor Suprunov had presented his default paintings with a number of example flights to show the handling of the Yak-40. I made some PDF's of them with his permission. I included the numbers in knots and feet, which were originally in Km/h and meters. Let me know if you are interested, sent me an email. You can find my email address at this suite : http://users.telenet.be/desi-iiiRegards and much pleasure with the Yak-40, still one of my favorites.Hugo
  2. Hi,Place your old disk as a second disk on your new computer as disk D: by example. Change the path to FS9 in the registry, re-install the commercial addons if necessary.Rgds,Hugo
  3. Well I am running FS9 in windows7 RC. Let me tell you, I have some troubles, maybe hardware, maybe software. First of all my computer has 4 Gbyte of memory and Windows 7 reports that only 3 Gb is usable? Next, in the beginning with Vista, I had a lot of troubles with a freezing FS9, I solved it with a remove of GA-traffic. I upgraded Vista to Windows7, not the best choice on the moment. Again I have sometimes a freezing FS9, but until now I haven't a clue. It is probably a memory problem because it always happens when I flying the Suprunov Yak-40, which needs a lot of resources. Another problem which I encountered with Windows7 is that my installed programs listing was empty and I needed to install a freeware "Vista Start Menu" (MS take a good look at it, and learn how to build a user interface) to get access to them. Next: the windows7 update wants to install the renewed drivers of two printers which were once installed in Vista and removed again, but I can't get access to the present installed printer via "Devices and Printers" because this utility freezes. Windows7 has potential, but still contains quirks and bugs, that's why it is still an RC! Maybe there are simmers that can run it without problems but not me! Regarding my past with FS9, Windows XP is still the best OS for Fsimmers.Regards, Hugo
  4. Hello Tom,After the topic was displayed on the main page I couldn't get in the library, now I can have access but it is very slow.Regards,Hugo
  5. Hi, It's not a gauge issue but a FS issue. When you start FS, go to "Settings" -> "General" and set "Display cockpit tool tips". That's all. Rgds,Hugo
  6. Hi,I especially took the CS707 out of the hangar after a long time for testing: indeed it is not compatible with Vista. Visually it is still stunning but when you start the plane there is a quick interaction between an interrupted wining sound and the wait icon (turning torus), if the landing lights are on, they are blinking. After all engines are started up, the lights are going out and stay out and you can't get them on. But you can fly the plane...Rgds,Hugo
  7. Oh yes, that too. But I never do or did, even with XP (The default installation creates too long file path's which only fit in most installation forms after scrolling and which is an annoying thing). By preference I install FS on a non system hardware disk. IMHO disk access is still the major cause of micro stutters, so avoiding as much as possible access of the "FS" disk by non FS programs will eliminate some stutters and fps dips. Regards,Hugo
  8. Hello Paul,Well FS2004 runs fine in Vista with a few precautions:1. Disable UAC (if you are planning to add additions)Next change the properties of the shortcut to FS9.exe: 2. Run in XP (Service Pack 2) Compatible mode3. Disable visual themes4. Disable desktop compositionAll the rest are the normal precautions you do in XP too:5. Use the latest graphics drivers6. Use the latest .Net (if you are using third party additions)7. Disable all unnecessary services. ( http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm )8. Disable all unnecessary services and programs for FS9 while you are "flying" (AlacrityPC)Enjoy!Hugo
  9. Hi,On my system Nhancer.exe (23.164K) and NhancerService.exe (1.623K) are running. IMHO Nhancerservice checks which application is running and if the application executable corresponds with a given profile a "command " is made to Enhancer.exe to set the parameters of the graphics card to the selected profile or the general profile if no corresponding executable is found (but this is only a guess). My FS9 profile for a 8600GTS which is giving me an image with AA with satisfies me (I don't believe "my FS system runs constantly at 30 FPS+", probably with no AA and no clouds in the sky). This is my FS9 profile:Anti-Aliasing Combined 4xS Gamma Correction SuperTransparebcy AAAnisotropic Filtering 16xVertical Sync Application Force OpenGL Triple-BufferTexture filtering QualityTrilinear Optimization OffAniso.sample optimization OffNegative LOD BIAS ClampAdjust LOD BIAS 0.0The rest is default.Hope this was of help to you.Hugo
  10. I downloaded a while ago an article about installing Windows XP on a Vista system. Well it didn't work on my system because it refuses to boot up my XP CD. But at the end of the article there were the paragraphs I mention here below (on my system the level2 cache was set to 0!). Does it has an influence on the FPS...I don't know! I am really sorry but I don't know the original author:The final thing I want to mention is that both XP and Vista do not utilize your CPU correctly. Most CPU’s have a great amount of 2nd level cache on board, but Windows by default only recognizes 256 Kb of it.To enable your full 2nd level cache of your CPU in both operating systems (and you have to do this first in Vista, then again in XP) is:1.Open the Start Menu.2.In the white line (Start Search) area, type regedit and press Enter. (Click Continue for UAC prompt for Vista users unless you have already put UAC into quiet mode.)3.In regedit, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management4.In the right pane, right click SecondLevelDataCache and click Modify.5.Type in the value for your CPU L2 size. Here is a basic chart for the values for 2nd level cache. To determine how much 2nd level cache your CPU has, use CPU-Z located at http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php . All you need to check in this utility is how much 2nd level cache your CPU has.L2 Size: Type value in bold below. Make sure you use the correct value for the correct setting. If the dot is in Hexadecimal, enter the hexadecimal value. If the dot is in Decimal, enter the decimal value.DECIMAL---------HEXADECIMAL256 KB-----------100 (hex)512 KB-----------200 (hex)1024 KB (1MB)----400 (hex)2048 KB (2MB)----800 (hex)4096 KB (4MB)----1000 (hex)6144 KB (6MB)----1800 (hex)8192 KB (8MB)----2000 (hex)12288 KB (12MB)--3000 (hex)16384 KB (16MB)--4000 (hex)6.Click OK to apply. 7.Close regedit.8.Restart the computer to apply the change. You will need to do this in both Vista and XP separately to take advantage of your CPU’s power. Also Vista Compatible programs are only compatible under Vista SP 1. Most programs needed the hotfixes that SP 1 provides. Also, programs that state XP / Vista compliant, you may need to set the program for XPSP 2 compatibility and check Disable Desktop Composition and Disable Visual Themes for them to work correctly and put a check mark into Run the program as an Administrator so that the program is able to save your personal settings. You can find where to adjust these settings by right clicking the program executable, select properties, then in the window that appears click the Compatibility tab. Your settings will be listed here. Once you have made your settings, click OK and the settings will be applied the next time you launch the program.Rgds,Hugo
  11. Beautiful! I should purchase FSX, simply for TileProxy. How far can you go with removing the default scenery?Hugo
  12. Hi Kano and Vic,Once you have modified the profile with nHancer, I am not sure it is changed in the Nvidia profiles permanently. Two processes of nHancer are always active in my system (nHancer.exe and nHancerService.exe). I assume these services are overwriting the default profiles once the conditions for their execution are met. (Global profile is overwritten when the system has started up, a private profile when the corresponding executable starts running). But these are assumptions, I have not tested it! In any case AA in full-screen and windowed mode are working and I have the chance to select the most effective method for AA for my system even while FS9 is running.I am using Ntune too (a little known Nvidia utility, available here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html, from Nvidia itself! to overclock the graphics card and to tune motherboard memory timings etc... if your motherboard and Nvidia card allows it; In my case and with a cheap Nvidia card, I had to define the Nvidia clock settings by trial and error) uses nearly the same method; here also you can define profiles or let select the utility the most efficient parameters, but also the start conditions for loading a defined profile and therefore a service nTuneService.exe is running on the system. But again I am not sure it is working like this.Regards,Hugo
  13. NO, You don't need to delete the predefined profile, you can change it via Nhancer. First set via the "Options" menu of Nhancer "Allow overwrite of predefined settings". Next change the anti-aliasing parameters. Mine are set as follows for a not so powerful 8600GS card: Combined 4xS, Gamma correction, Supertransparency, RESET Enhance in-game AA setting (if set, I have NO AA in window mode), Anisotrpic Filtering 16x, Vertical Sync Application, Texture filtering Quality, Trilinear optimization off, Aniso. sample opt off, Negative LOD BIAS Clamp, all other parameters are left to default.Rgds,Hugo
  14. Hi,Double click the gray border of your Task Manager's "window" and you get the menu's back. Your Task Manager is now running in a "Small Footprint Mode".Rgds,Hugo
  15. I don't want to go in a discussion if it is advantageous to set FS9 to a higher priority or not. I my case , i have set it to high and I have the feeling FS9 is running more smoothly and until now I haven't experienced disadvantages of this setting. Discussion closed! I wanted only point out here that I found a free utility to set an executable to a higher priority without going through a cmd window.Rgrds,Hugo
  16. Hi,You can also try this one: the Japanese F-16, Mitsubishi F-2A:http://www.flightinfo.jp/FS_KBT/Regards,Hugo
  17. I am sure it was! I am running FS9 in Vista with DX10 installed. None or no obvious improvement at all!Hugo
  18. Hi,The latest version of the video driver is 181.2 (8 januari). Before you install a new driver you must remove the old completely with "uninstall programs". remove the left over files with "Driver Sweeper" by example. reboot evry time when asked and next install the new driver. After you have the start up of FS2004 and set the right resolution again, close FS2004 and check the FS9.cfg file. Delete the DISPLAY.Device.Nvidia GeForce... sections which are not valid anymore.Hugo
  19. Sorry, my mistake, must be: "But only on fields with GA-parking spots".Rgrds,Hugo
  20. Hi,Did you "collect" the data, set the "settings" and did the flightplan generation with the button in the left lower corner? Then you must have GA-traffic, but only on fields with a "control tower".BTW: the forum is here on AVSIM:http://forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showforum=205Best Wishes,Hugo
  21. Hi,I could solve this problem on my system (with an on board sound system) by installing one of the earlier versions (v2.7) of ASIO4ALL (freeware).Best wishes,Hugo
  22. Hi,You can change YOUR VIEWPOINT in X, Y and Z by using the Ctrl, Shift, or a combination of both together with the Enter and Backspace key. I don't know by heart which combination does what.Best wishes and many flights in a blue sky,Hugo
  23. Nice find!Never heard of it. It looks like "You weren't happy with our Flight Simulator X? If you can do better, build your own then... Here are the tools".Best wishes,Hugo
  24. I don't think the device can be claimed. A very short search on Google gave me the solution and now it seems to me that only the construction of the switch in a gloves finger can be original. On the found site, http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/, the soft- and hardware author uses an "IR diode stick with switch".The combination, however, of the idea of Mr.Chung with the virtual cockpit of a simulator is very good thinking of Scoochy and it's great!Regards,Hugo
