  1. Crosswind Landing Great flight. Some very challenging conditions. A good chance to work on my airmanship. Those Sportys DVDs on ground reference maneuvers really paid off. https://youtu.be/gRfgvGtgeDg
  2. When the toolbar is not working can you press the up arrow to make it go away? Saw something that seemed to be similar issue.
  3. Set cockpit interactions to Classic, I believe. Options / General Options / Accessibility / Legacy. Missed it by that much.
  4. Track IR is the best addition to Flight simulation after some basic controls. So nice to turn your head naturally to look for your reference points when flying the pattern. Like some of the other responses, I've had mine for many many years.
  5. This area is stunning. After a dreadful day flying the G.91 (landing well over MLW - repeatedly) I decided to depart Windhoek in the Stearman and head North and explore low and slow. There are many landmarks and objects that catch your eye and hold your attention. Puttering along the washes. Flying here just before sunrise, the HDR effects in FS 2020 have won me over. The lighting effects as the sun began to crest the horizon and illuminate the terrain on the opposite side of the valley was impressive. I also observed the shadow of the eastern horizon descend to the west. It was very immersive. Unfortunately the screenshots I took are all washed out, because the tool doesn't capture the correct information. Thanks for the flight plan.
  6. Unfortunately i won't get to see the Atacama and the Andean Peaks due to work. One of the worlds largest open pit copper mines is due north of Calama. Chuquicamata was a town that the mine swallowed up. I did fly the first leg yesterday evening and it looked great.
  7. The DC-6 was flown extensively by TAL out of Miami international on scheduled freight routed through the US Virgin Islands well into the 1990s. Scheduled air freight routes under FAA part 121 to St Martin St Croix, St. Thomas and Puerto Rico. They also flew charter service to the Bahamas. They operated out of what was known as corrosion corner at KMIA. I am planning a 1:00pm departure to Freeport Bahamas. Takeoff weight around 80,0000 pounds. Get to Freeport in about an hour.
  8. I would enjoy sharing some short hops with the DC-6. Both the DC-6 and Iceland look pretty good.
  9. Anyone added it yet? " Created from carefully blended DEM data, Iceland Mesh is a 100% self-contained product with no changes made to the default mesh or any other files. With virtually no noticeable performance impact, each LOD is consistent without any blurring and minimal LOD morphing when flying over the terrain of Iceland. Compatible with the World Update 5: Nordics. Login to download. https://orbxdirect.com/product/iceland-mesh-msfs
  10. That was a great flight, I don't care what some of those other guys said. The Piper Arrow IV Turbo coupled with that scenery, I was in awe several times. It was a great opportunity to use the equipment you have.
  11. The immersion is no longer there. What's this? Update 1.17.3.0 and a PMDG product. I do enjoy rotary winged aviation in DCS. Syria and some of the Normandy maps. To me. the point of flying warbirds is to shoot stuff down and blow stuff up .
  12. A great route. The Columbia River is impressive. FS 2020 really allows for exploring the world. To me, it provides a good sense of the geography of a place or feature. Cheers!
  13. Caught up with Ron and we attempted a loop while in formation. Not terrible for a first try.
  14. Didn't catch a break with the weather here. The rain is holding off and I was slow to get moving this morning so I am occupied with maintaining the manor.
  15. With regards to the Paris scenery, I did some additional testing with caching a lot of the area at high and it improved my experience. I was getting a lot of splotchy gray areas a little further away which would draw better as I got closer and went past. Caching the scenery, I no longer see the melted photogrammetry buildings that then pop into focus and clear up.
  16. Flying around Paris I noticed this interesting jet captured in the Paris photogrammetry. http:// I was just about caught up with you past the first airport when I lost power. With regards to the stutters and the liveries, just fly default I since no one else is going to see the one you chose and we can't all be in separate ones.
  17. Reality is a simulation, FS 2020 is a game to distract from the simulation.
  18. Thanks for letting us know. Anything we can do to cheer you up? A chocolate biscuit perhaps?
  19. I have CH Control Manager installed but run in direct mode without any custom mapping and am able to program a toggle for revers thrust with FS as the Minimum detent button (17 and 18 for the A320 / CJ4 / 787. When I land, I pull the throttles back to the stop and then increase to throttle to increase the reverse thrust. Then I pull the throttle back to the stop to toggle out of reverse thrust. It is not as elegant as how I used to have my quadrant programmed in FSX for the 747 but it works. I was having a lot of issues with CH Control Manager and Windows 10 disconnecting the controllers. Curious if you have had that problem? I would like to get back to using CH Control Manager in mapped mode as I used to leverage the SHIFT function to double the number of buttons as well as some programming techniques for special functions.
  20. D-EMAR over Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park, WY. http://
  21. That was good fun. Not sure how Ron landed where he did @ 1:07
