  1. That does seem a bit high Barry. I'm in Brissie & temps here are mild at the moment but my idle is high twenties, low thirties. Stress test at default clock was in the sixties. I would expect better as your Kraken cooler should be up to the task from what Iv'e seen of them. Might do the delid myself further down the track. Would get a tool though & use it on my old 4770K as well which my son now has. It could get to 4.5Gz during cooler months but was more comfortable at 4.3Gz most of the time. Wasn't a real good one so could benefit from a delid most likely.
  2. Got my rig built over Easter but didn't receive my new Thermaltake Water 3.0 CPU cooler till Tuesday. Installed it that night & then tried some overclocks last night (Wednesday). Didn't have too much time to spend but got what appears to be a stable 5Gz clock at 1.335V. Fell over at 1.30 but was happy at 4.9Gz at that voltage. Will see where I can get to with 1.35v before I post poll results. Temps peaked @ 78C on a couple of the cores. Mainly fluctuated between high 60's & low 70's during stress test. Have installed to an Asus Maximus IX Hero MB in a Thermaltake Chaser1 case. Looking forward to getting P3D & FSX up & running!!
  3. G'day Tim, I just picked up my new build parts from MSY here in Brissie yesterday. I decided to go with the i7 7700K, ASUS Maximus IX Hero & the GSkill Ripjaws 3200 16GB. Intend to do the build over Easter. The price of the MB just got dropped by $30 so thought I'd grab one whilst there was stock. Still very expensive but I'm about to be retired so thought I'd go with something that should last quite a while & the ROG boards seem to have good reviews. Particularly re the high quality heat handling components used. Also I need as many rear USB ports as I can get so decided on the Maximus which has 9. Did consider the Strix & the TUF also. All good boards I reckon, you can't go wrong with any of them. I'm putting it into my current case a Thermaltake Chaser Mk1. Don't know if you can get them anymore however I've had a couple of Thermaltake cases & found them excellent to work with. They have HD trays that don't require screws & will take both HDD & SSD's. Also front fitting components such as CD-R similarly don't require screwing in. Cooling is excellent & the case is also Water Cooling friendly. Could be worth a look at also. BTW which lure do you prefer? :-) Good luck with the build.
  4. I also see the light grey area around the GTN once the sim starts to get dark (time). Doesn't happen with the Real Air Duke Turbo so there must be a way to fix this. Haven't spent too much time on trying to solve it yet, hopefully someone will find a solution.
  5. My Thermaltake Water 2.0 has just died (sprung a leak actually) & although it's four years old Tt are looking into a replacement. Hopefully I'll get an answer today whether they will or not. In the meantime I've been researching & was considering a corsair however hear they are very noisy. Came across this unit that get's very good reviews & out performs the Corsairs & is much quieter: http://www.swiftech.com/h220x2.aspx Could be worth considering.
  6. I have had a PFC SAAB Desktop yoke for about seven years now & yes to me it was a vast improvement over the previous Saitek & CH Yokes I had. Super smooth & excellent switches. Doesn't have a hat switch but if you have TrackIR you don't need it. Recently replaced my Saitek Throttles with PFC also. Again vast improvement. No more jumping throttles in the VC & again super smooth.
  7. What you have done is recommended in the Docs that come with the product. They explain why there. Other option is to download the FSX install file & use it however you will lose some of the features only available in P3D. I have been using this aircraft in the optimized parts "off" mode for several months now & find works fine. A google search will show up more in depth documentation than is in the already excellent PDF file supplied by XP.
  8. If you have the Saitek Radio Panel the ADF can be tuned using it. I then select ADF in the Bearing 2 window on the PFD.
  9. Well heard back from Carenado this morning & they said they are aware of the problems I rose with them. These included the Warning/Caution light, FLC issue with the aircraft not flying at the designated speed plus the Saitek auto pilot module altitude selector not working (which it did in the previous version). They commented that these issues will be fixed in an up coming service pack. They didn't state when, however, that is good news as I was not expecting them to spend much time on an older product & thought I was just getting fobbed off. Looks like I may well have been wrong. Hope that's the case!
  10. I second the XL Lear25 & definitely agree re the VC. Recently flew it across the pond to Norway via Greenland & Iceland. Unfortunately can't do it in one hop but is a great aircraft.
  11. Oops. Yes I meant TRQ, don't know why I said Ng. I agree I'd be surprised to see another update so I'm not holding my breath. Although they did say in the email there could be one. I doubt there are enough issues to do so, unless others are having similar problems & going direct to Carenado for a ticket. Doubt it though because they would have most likely found the cause by now or come straight back with the update answer.
  12. Pretty bizarre Polizie! Just out of interest, what Ng% are you showing when at idle? I have been able to stop the light coming on when accelerating by adjusting my throttle so it idles @ 10%. Was previously 6.4%. The light only illuminates when passing through 7.3%Ng. It of course comes back on once the revs drop below 10 then rise again, even in the air & when coming out of reverse. Extremely annoying, hence my original post of "stupid". Very frustrating! Also how are you finding the FLC? Similar to what I have seen? Whilst I have Carenados' attention & they are mentioning an update (?) I will raise the subject of how inaccurate the mode is.
  13. Just an update for those that could be having a similar problem. Heard back from Carenado the next day which was pretty good. They asked what flap setting I was using, I replied it didn't matter, warning came on with & without flaps. So they asked if I would install over the top nominating as Administrator. Which I did & even uninstalled & reinstalled using same. Didn't fix the issue. Came back to me this morning & said it would be looked into & fixed in a future update. WOW! That really helped! Spent all of five minutes of assistance. This was the last Carenado product I have bought & looks like it's going to remain that way. Looks like it's back to the previous version as I only updated to try the FLC option which quite frankly is quite flawed. Regardless of which IAS I select the aircraft ignores that & flies anything from 15KIAS to 30 KIAS above the nominated speed. Even the FD if hand flying will have you doing well above the speed selected if followed. Don't know why they bothered. Also this latest version doesn't work with my Saitek AP as well as the previous. Altitude selection knob does not work at all & selection of IAS gives a more incorrect response than by using the wheel in the VC. In all I think they broke more than they fixed, at least for me.
  14. I'll second the XPJ Lear 25. Recently purchased it & flown from Palm Springs to Bilbao in Spain via Alaska, Chicago (Meigs) Greenland, Iceland, Norway & Scotland. It's fast & flies high but the range has to be watched. Only leg I had to be really careful was to Greenland. Did the rest no problem & used AS16 real weather all the way. Flies nicely, has good systems & docs, however more realistic POH is available on the net with a quick search. I did install the GTN750 to help with this trip however it does come with a default GPS. Also have the Citation Mustang but find it a bit slow particularly in climb to cruise. The Lear on the other hand is a rocket & you have to be on the ball on take off.
  15. Yes Polizei, That is the frustrating thing about this light coming on. It should not be doing it & it has never done so before till I installed the latest update. Previous one I still have installed into P3DV2.5 as stated earlier in the thread does not exhibit this issue. Have put a ticket into Carenado as following three installs with two different downloaded files this happens in both P3dV3.4 & FSX-SE. Will post here if they come up with a solution.
  16. Hi Greg, Wouldn't know what -15C was like. Have been skiing here in Australia but I don't think we get to anywhere near those minuses. Re the turbo throttles, I doubt you will have any issues. I believe they have redesigned the spacers so they fit better. My replacement is great as I mentioned & it took a while for them to send it as I believe they were re sizing the spacers for a better fit for future production. All levers are now very easy to get through the gates. If you don't already have it I suggest you get a registered copy of FSUIPC to calibrate them with. Then you can set up the gate positions to match with your hardware. Have found it really easy to taxi turbo props now as I can slip the throttles back into Beta range to slow them down. Much more realistic. Sure you will not be disappointed when you get it. From memory the single prop one came with the controller unit & the twin normal prop at a discounted price. All as a package. Turbo & Jet throttles were extra without discount.
  17. OK Thanks. Have your GTN mod also. Will try it out when I get a chance. Maybe later today. Thanks for your help as always Bert.
  18. Hi Bert, Well the new download made no difference. The light continues to come on once out of idle whilst on the ground. On take off I can turn it off by pressing the button & it will remain extinguished however lights up again as soon as revers is selected after touch down. Will the rate of change for the pressurization system still work even if I install the GTN & disable the G1000? I was having the pressurization problem with the earlier v2 but due to the master caution issue I haven't yet flown to any height to test if this problem has been rectified with the latest version. I noticed they did fix the TOGA pitch attitude to 7.5 deg. & changed the initial VS to zero which I tend to do with most of my aircraft. Have found the warning light occurs in both P3Dv3.4 & FSX-SE. I have the previous version in P3dV2.5 & it works fine. Have lodged a ticket with Carenado.
  19. Hi Bert, Thanks for your reply. I did get those from you some time ago but it seems this problem is with the latest V2 update. If I get this thing working & don't consign it to the scrap heap I'm intending to install the GTN750 in any case. It was working quite nicely in the earlier V2 build I had however the FLC mode was not selectable. Not that it works very well in any case. Set a speed of 130Kts & it sits at 155Kts instead! I have looked further into the master caution light problem & it appears to activate as my throttle comes out of idle either into reverse or forward. If I have idle down to around 6% the light goes out, but as soon as I move the throttle forward or into reverse it comes on again. I have reinstalled a couple of times. This happens both in P3Dv3 & FSX-SE. Am re downloading the latest file again & will try a new install. Did your mods fix the pressurization problem or was that supposedly fixed with the latest update?
  20. Hi Greg, I also splashed out & purchased the same sets as Robert did in September last year. Unfortunately I have had some issues with the Twin Turbo prop & the Advanced Jet units. PFC have replaced the Twin Turbo & it is now perfect. Superbly smooth for all levers & an absolute joy to use. Previously the levers were too stiff & one of the condition levers was so stiff I needed two hands to move it. They have since sent me a replacement unit with reworked spacers between the levers & fixed that issue. The jet unit is still a problem & we are trying to get that sorted. I believe they are working on it which is movement of the right hand throttle lever causes the corresponding reverser lever to gradually keep moving aft. If you don't have the lever programmed to accommodate this then your right hand reverser keeps coming on after a while if you forget to keep pushing it back to the stops. Easily compensated for in FSUIPC but annoying non the less. Must say though these units are so smooth they really are a joy to use & gone are the jittery throttles in the VC. They now stay rock steady. Another little thing I like is if the weather is a little cool or the air conditioner is on in the computer room (forecast 39C here in Brisbane, Australia today) then the throttle handles of the twin turbo & twin jet being metal have a cool touch to them when first used. Something that surprised me the first time this happened following changing from my previous Saiteks which are all plastic. Just gives these units a feel of quality. The controller unit is solid & the same height as the SAAB desk yoke I have & has reasonable weight to it however with the issue I was having with the twin turbo throttle I removed the rubber feet & velcroed it to my desk. Doubt I'd need this now since the arrival of the updated unit. Gear lever is great, same as the real world ones I have used where you have to pull the lever back & over a small gate to operate. No inadvertent gear movement with this system. Also the rudder trim comes in handy with aircraft such as the Aerosoft Twin Otter & Carenado TBM850 where you have take off rudder trim indicators. So despite the issues I still am very pleased with this product. I was happy with the Saiteks which served me for many years & lasted longer than most from what Iv'e read on the forums however the pots finally began spiking too much & replacements were not available. The PFC's are expensive but in my opinion are worth it. I expect they will be like the yoke which I have had now for about seven years & in the same period previously I'd been through a couple of Saiteks.
  21. Hi Polizei, Thanks for your reply, I'm fully aware of what a master caution light is for being a RW pilot (not the TBM). There is no message on the CAS. It's a glitch in the aircraft which has not existed in the earlier versions & I was asking if any of the previous posters had found out why it keeps coming on & what they did to rectify it if they were able to at all? The posts appeared to end with no offered solution apart from possible pressurization which is glitchy & comes on quite regularly whilst in climb out. The system cannot keep up with the aircraft. The reason I called it idiotic is because there is no logical reason for it to be coming on when it is & after spending considerable time trying to get this install set up & flying somewhere near to being suitable this happens. Just frustration on my behalf. Might try another complete uninstall & reinstall if I can't find the cause although I have spent too much time as it is trying to get this aircraft to perform anywhere near how it should. Certainly can't fly it with this flashing in your face constantly.
  22. Anybody find an answer for this idiotic light to keep coming on? I had what I thought was the most recent edition installed in to P3D till I discovered the FLC was inoperable so I uninstalled & reinstalled the latest V2 (twice) & now I have this happening. It wasn't an issue with the previous install. Can't see any reason for it. I can sit on the runway & doing various throttle movements such as reverse or coming out of reverse & into forward can cause this activation. Even before getting off the ground so I don't believe pressurization has anything to do with it. I had hangered this aircraft some time ago & only recently resurrected it as I could flick the troublesome G1000 for the GTN750 & with some tweaks was getting it flying quite nicely. However this light constantly illuminating now is so annoying if I can't fix it then it's back to the hanger & off the hard drive for it.

    PFPX

Hi Paul, Not at my sim computer at the moment so can't check this but from memory if there was a waypoint I couldn't delete when editing the flight plan route it was because it was part of an approach or departure procedure. This can automatically be selected if you have allowed PFPX to nominate a runway to use, both for take off or landing based on the weather report it is using. By deselecting the runway in the flight plan then this will probably solve your issue. I hope.
  24. Hi Mitch, Thanks for the quick reply. Don't want you to go to any trouble. If you can stick a fictitious VH- *** rego on the default UK version or your 15DD that would do me. Cheers, Ross
