  1. Sounds v good to me ;). Always willing to learn more, especially from a real world pilot. How's Friday :D or is everyone going to be flying the VATPAC South Pacific NAVEX ;) Seriously though, do email me (gbalean@emailme.com.au - no spam any of you or i'll set the aust govt on you with their new laws ;)) whenever you are going to / want to do it, even if it is a one on one tuition lol :D:DGeoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 2. Greetings and Salutations again!Oh! Didn't know you had to input another one there (did RTFM)! However, I'm not sure whether this explains why it works the first time you fly, but not when you conduct a turnaround :| Maybe when you initially set it up, when you set TA as 10,000 it sets TL at FL100 automatically, however when you conduct your descent on the first flight, it reverts the TL to FL180.IN REGARDS TO B KEY (Currently the latest way to put it as simply as possible ;)):[With TA as 10,000, CLIMBING]= Climbing to 10,000 - pushing b key sets local qnh, displays under vertical speed tape on PFD.= Climbing Through 10,000 set STANDARD - pushing b still sets local qnh below vsi (doesn't use local qnh, just displays it still)= Climbing Through FL180 when FL180 is not TA - pushing b causes qnh setting to dissappear below vsi, although this should be happen when climbing through 10,000 as that is the TAOPPOSITE ON DESCENTGeoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 3. Thanks for the response ;), though that wasn't quite what I was trying to say. What I am saying is that if you finish one flight, commence another without restarting flight sim or anything (turnaround) on descent the aircraft thinks the transition altitude is 18000 ft always even when you have set say 10,000 ft in the FMC perf init page. The next bit of the prob is that between this 10,000 i've set as transition altitude and 18000 ft, pushing 'b' for local baro setting will result in the altimeter/qnh setting being displayed below STD, however it doesn't display above 18,000 ft when 'b' is pushed again.Climbing up to 10,000 local qnh set and displayed. @ 10,000 STD pushed, qnh still displayed below STD. Just past 18,000 push 'b' again and the qnh disappears below the word STD. Therefore, this problem is just cosmetic, however it is a problem.Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 4. Well, I didn't want to use the 'B*g' word - sounds harsh. I posted this a while ago: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search about a minor transition problem, not about setting trans alt and level, but incorrect altimeter settings.PMDG devs / beta testers please reply once you have seen this issue, to let me know you've seen it - I'll stop reposting it then :)Just a quick mention also - I had an engine failure at V1 for the first time today. Only thing I did differently I think was not use FS AutoStart (new build wasn't saving profile for me. fixed). I just managed to stop before running into the grass, after a moment of absolute surprise. Restarted machine and all programs again, after fixing AutoStart (didn't want it happening again, just in case) and we ended up taking off 35 minutes later. ;)Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 5. I can never take off or even rotate until about v2 + 10 or so. I heard a lot about this before the 800/900 release, but haven't fixed it, so I am currently living with it - as far as I know, if it works for most but doesn't work for me, it won't be fixed for me ;) It certainly would be good to be able to rotate at the right speed however. 7. Hi Robert ;) (Again!)I have the CH Rudder and Yoke combo, and think that the rudder pedals are good, but the yoke is a bit inacurate. 8. After looking in the screenshots forum..I don't suppose the PMDG 737 can produce wing tip vortices? I haven't seen any yet. Will the B744 have these? 9. Add the 20, because if you have LNAV engaged prior to takeoff, when you switch autopilot on for lateral control with the FMC at 400ft AGL it will hold the selected speed until desired. Stay at V2 + 20 with flaps until 3000ft AGL, manually controlling vertical nav, then 'bug up' to the clean speed and retract flaps according to the PFD and finally engage VNAV.Cheers,Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 12. Hi Mark!Do you live in Australia (me too)? After the govt has recently changed laws regarding spam email, many providers appear to be disallowing the PMDG purchase emails through, notably Optus (or so I'm lead to believe). 14. Just a late edit: The qnh / altimiter setting is shown below STD when pressing the b button below 18,000, not above 18,000 like stated above.EG. Descending through 18,000ft, just below that you push 'b' to set QNH (not really needed though, because above transition alt 10,000) but the qnh is shown below the text 'STD'. This doesn't occur when above fl180, which isn't my selected transition altitude.I am glad (wrong word perhaps :)) someone else has noticed the first bit of this problem too. 16. Hi Everyone! No this is not about Transition alt and level :)I have noticed on several occasions that when you first conduct a flight and enter the transition altitude (10,000) everything works fine during the flight. However after you conduct another flight without reloading the aircraft ie. have a turnaround, although the transition altitude is set at 10,000ft it desires local qnh to be set at 18000 during descent. Also, is it normal for it to show the qnh/altimiter setting below the text 'STD' when pushing 'b' higher than 18,000 but not between 10,000 and 18,000?Good luck with your next flights ;) I had to to a go around when flying online yesturday, or rather the PMDG 73 did it automatically. Just as I had disengaged autothrottles a little late (also before this it was on autoland) and it went to/ga. Before I realised what was happening, I was very fast and went around. Probably not the products fault however..Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 17. Creating Flight Plan.1. From the Flight Plan folder in FSBuild, search for the flight plan that you want. Enter the ICAO code of the departure or arrival airport and search.2. Modify flight plan as appropriate3. [not required] In the Airplane folder, select your aircraft you will use, enter the weights and fuel (it will automatically calculate total route fuel with compensation for winds), temperature and elevation of departure airport.4. Select your build options in the Build menu - select PMDG, Flight Sim etc. You don't have to select any, but it creates say a PMDG company route, so in the co-route field in the FMC, you put the two ICAO codes for the departure and arrival airport and all the info you set up in FSBuild is set up in the FMC.5. Go to the Navlog and print it out if desired and you built one.6. Fuel the PMDG 737 with the fuel the navlog says is required, remembering the first 1000lbs goes in the centre tank, then fill up the wings and the remainder in the centre tankFSBuild is a great program. It certainly adds to the realism and planning part of virtual flying. NOTE: If you have ActiveskywxRe or 2004 or many other weather programs, FSBuild can also calculate fuel, times and speeds based on winds aloft. If you have Activesky 2004 however, you must ask the creator of FSBuild for the Beta of 2.2 (free, email on website www.fsbuild.com).Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 20. Hi G (Hint: forum rules state to please put full real name at end of post ;))Not that I know of. However, if you are traveling a short distance such as a trip that takes 1 hour or so, you'd probably be sticking pretty close to the estimated cruise altitude shown on the Perf Init page during FMC setup, remembering the Odds and Evens rule / any other rules for your area. Anything longer would generally be FL330,350,370 if you're heading east, evens fl's if west. Remember, the ceiling for the 737 is fl410 of the top of my head.Odds and even FL info can be found at http://www.vatpac.org/~vat-dean/australia/...ir.htm#Cruising Levels if you don't know about it.Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 22. I use Activesky 2004 with the PMDG 737. Activesky updates the weather very accurately, has a precipitation radar module (a popup in flight simulator - can't integrate this into say the PND as far as I know, and it doesn't seem very likely) and a flight watch radio service which you can listen to on 122.0. If you have something like FSBuild 2.2 Beta (ask the creator of FSBuild after you purchase 2.1 for the beta) you can also get data from Activesky and incorporate it into your route planning (fuel, headings and what not).Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 24. Hi All!Would anyone kindly post their Load Manager configurations or ideas as to how much cargo each person should have etc. I don't think I've set up my Load Manager realistically, and as we are after 'As Real as it Gets', I'd appreciate if someone could tell me how I could achieve this in the loading department. Thanks for any info!Geoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. 25. This happened during at least my last flight. Had to pause and struggle with the / key and the lever in the throttle panel to get them down, then unpause - seamless recovery :-rollGeoffrey BaleanCanberra, AU (YSCB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg"Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.
