I can only conclude that it must have something to do with the iFly release date... Seems like PMDG are now stalling until it releases first. First we weren't to go on short-term vacations, now we're expecting movies instead of the actual product release. Given my enthusiasm about the 737NGX, I've been exceptionally patient until now. This is despite thinking it was going to be out in November ("The manuals are being released; one of the last things we'll do before release"), then December ("We're really trying hard for a release this year"), then January (surely it'd be out after I got back from a 1 month trip), then April ("Beta was going to be Friday, now Monday, don't take any short term vacations"), but Ryan's post about movies was...disappointing. I'm not saying I don't want to see the movies, but, if the community reaction is anything to go by, it really seems that we have been fed one too many lines. Please do release it when it's ready. However, and I say this in the nicest way possible, I think everyone would appreciate a little openness/honesty.

Though the posts are getting smaller and smaller in horizontal width, i thought it most appropriate under here =D In reply to Jim, negative I haven't set up any manual thermal points. I also get the Thermal Issue, around aerodromes at least, maybe more but haven't really ventured further out since purchasing ASV. Until seeing this I thought it was just something like callibration of my yoke or the power of the extra 300s that i was flying around with. I am fully aware that this is v early beta, and things may not be concrete/complete, but as a personal opinion only and not to say 'oh you've missed this bit', I think maybe the perspectives on the EFIS panel knobs might be a little dicey, maybe worth a second look at but it's of course up to PMDG. I can definitely see what was intended though, just something makes me have a second guess regarding it.edit: found the reason to be knobs perspective as if viewed from right ie FO, whereas gear lever, selector knobs and brightness controls shown as if viewed from the left. Hi :)After having a lot of problems myself with this initially, I came to realise that it wasn't descent winds this and that (though i do enter those courtesy ActiveSky), but more a matter of speed.So what I now do is select the arrival, make sure everything's set up in the FMC and then insert speeds (in the LEGS page) that i wanted to be at, at certain fixes (like within the TMA 210 knots, prior to turning final 180kts). With these set and the arrival and approach entered down to the runway, the FMC will adequately be able to estimate when to descend, and will have factored in time for you to slow down during the descent.It's no good having just 250kts below A100 (default) in the FMC, as unless it's programmed in your arrival, it will assume you want that right down to the runway.Hope that helps,Geoffrey Balean YSCBVirgin Blue Virtual - VOZ9211Student Controller (S3)http://www.voz.ozflight.com.au/images/pmdgforumsignature.png

Hi Jonathon!My take on a consistent, by-the-book departure:1. Advance throttles to 40% and let them stabilise2. TO/GA button3. Ensure thrust is set - call 'Power set'4. At 65kts view the F/D bars moving to upright5. V1 and the V1 call just prior to6. Rotate7. V2 call with pitch moving up to meet the F/D bars8. Positive rate of climb, gear up9. Passing 400ft Autopilot following a lateral mode MAY be engaged9. I believe it's at >1500ft, select the N1 thrust mode, keeping Climb thrust and varying pitch to keep ~ V2+20 (provided V2 set in the speed window during preflight)10. Above 3000ft (flap retraction altitude here), and at ~ V2 + 20 call for and set flaps 1 (from 5)11. Bug up, that is wind up / set the speed window to the speed that corresponds to the -UP bug on the Speed Tape12. Passing through the -1 bug, set flaps up13. Start switches OFF, Landing Gear UP & OFF, Flaps UP, NO LIGHTS, Autobrakes OFF14. I'm certainly no realworld NG driver, but I can say with a fair amount of certainty without going through a lot of NG documentation that it is because the real 737NG behaves this way. Also, when being given vectors the FMC and the pilot of course have no idea of the duration of this vectoring, unless the controller adds '...you have XX miles to run'. This information is given to all aircraft who do not already have some other means of determining distance to run for descent purposes where I come from, except very rarely when the controller is perhaps too busy.Regards,Geoffrey Balean (YSCB)

Ha unless you have a much much more recent version that wasn't from a peer to peer network ;) P2P networks in my opinion should be pulled apart, put into a scrap heap and the whole lot of people using them sued. I mean today I hear from somebody who thinks that 'sharing' music through this isn't illegal as you share songs etc with another person mutually, yet it creates copies of the file. Hi :)I believe that's from when you've pushed one of the buttons on the EFIS panel (forgot label) and it's supposed to display the radial from a certain fix. Clearly it's displaying V1 as opposed to the radial in this example. Hi AllAPU usage depends on the operator. Most companies either turn the APU off after connecting the IDGens to the busses, or leave them on until turning them off post takeoff around the stage where the After Takeoff Checklist is completed.I'm not 100% clear on this, but I believe that this is because the APU can act as a source of bleed air required to relight the engines or something.
