  2. >>I fully expect ACES to include modern jet transport aircraft>with a fully functional FMC/autopilot system with the route>I wonder why FS developers (MS i.e. Aces) don't develop add-ons themselves? They know FS perfectly because they've made it. They are full-time employees and have much more time to dedicate to a project as opposed to third party devs who mostly do it in their free time. There would be no wasting time in transferring authorizations, rights, and knowledge. They could charge their add-on aircraft (or whatever), so there would be some income... etc.The fact is that lately we are faced with almost unacceptable long time 3rd party developers need to make a realistic add-on. Sometimes it is absurd when a new version of FS is due to be out before the add-on aircraft for the previous version. Seems that today's quality product from our favorite developers needs 3(+) years to be completed. I think an experienced and well-tuned team like Aces can do it in less than a year.On the topic: One little thing I would like to see is possibility to continue after crash. FMC

Is it possible that the blank FMC screen may be related to missing fonts? (Taken from Q&A on PMDG website):--------Problem: FMC is blank with all other instruments normalThis is caused by missing fonts that are required for the FMC display. The font names are LUCON, ARIALN and ARIALNB. Installing these fonts into the Windows/Fonts folder will restore the FMC display. --------Neven

  5. It happened to me too. My solution is to press the pushback button (on the com panel) again and the movement stops. Hope it will work for you too.Neven
  6. Ray, there are more of us who share your view.In the moment some aircraft - on-line or AI - opens fire on me in MSFS, I'll format my disc.Fighter pilots can enjoy really nice combat sims like IL2 or lomac, so why not keep FS a demilitarized zone.

    FS11 Wish List

I think by now Aces team has got really lot of experience, some of which they have got hard way. I believe they are now ready to make a perfect release - FS11. After releasing this sp2, I whish they won't spent more time and effort on sp3,4 etc. Instead they should take a nice long vacation, and then start to work, so that some two years from now we can enjoy in a fs-masterpiece.On the wish list is certainly decent performance (this fsx performance affair shouldnt happen again), and a few others already mentioned so many times:- good flight planner- atc with sid/star (I understand Vista has a new voice reckognition system, so why not get some use of it? It would be nice not to depend on Vatsim-equipped areas for real atc.)- improvements in flight modelWith all respect, adding too many default aircraft is not so necessary. Serious simmers will anyway concentrate on add-ons from their favorite developers. And I personally don't care too much for bugs on the windshield, train simulator integrations, visual damage, bombs and I don't know what else I've been reading here about. Seems I'm getting too old for these things. Not worth programming efforts. And this idea about two versions mentioned in a previous post I've been advocating for years. There should be a simple $30 FS for people who enjoy to just give full trottle, make loops and run into the mountain, and a "good" serious sim for which I would be ready to hand out, say $2-300.Thank you
  8. More and more we see people complaining about (too) long developement times for various FS addons. In fact one of such passionate discussions about an Airbus is still going on while I'm writing this.I just never understood: Are most of our favorite developers doing this job for living, for maintaing their families, full working time, or they just do it after regular working hours as a hobby for some additional income, if and when they get some free time, and wife and kids went to sleep... etc?Sorry if this is a confidential or naive question, but I wouldn't dare to criticise anybody if this is just a free time job. On the contrary, if they are pros then I can understand and share some of the nervous reactions of future customers. Having to wait much more than a year (and sometimes two) from announcemet to delivery makes people somewhat dissapointed. Though I am not involved with FS, I am an IT developer myself and can estimate quite well how much time does developement of a complex system take.No offence, no bad intention, I am just curious how it works.
  9. ... and Maxivista (http://www.maxivista.com/)
  10. Is FS 2004 working under Vista? - Yes it is.(with all Add On stoff)? - Depends. Some addons have issues.
  11. ChrisYou've just inspired me to give atr another try. I didn't find it easy to operate, at least not on my single 17'' monitor without TrackIR. It has lot of panels and buttons, and I remember it was a nightmare looking at the complex cockpit through a 17'' window, having to press some hotpoint whenever I need to change the view/perspective.You don't mention your monitor setup in your signature. Do you have something which makes you ATR experience so good? i.e. multiple large monitors? So I will arm myself with more patience and try again. Also > @ Jon: I would like to hear your opinion about flying this bird as soon as you get some experience.(Sorry, didn't want to steal the thread, hope you don't mind)Elprim

    Thanks PMDG

He, he, that was a nice try, Jeff. I see forum members have developed very subtile ways to pull out any drop of eagerly expected info from the Team :-lolNeven
  13. I know that feeling, yes sir I do. During the years I enjoyed more in setting up software & hardware, printing and reading manuals etc. than actually flying. When I'm finally ready to fly I realize there's no time left. You fly on weekends? Lucky you. In my case two months can easily pass between my flights. Maybe we should meditate on our future retirement days and how nice will it be to fly all days (and nights) long.My only consolation is that I was diciplined in using credit card so I didn't spent so much.
  14. HiFew months ago Ryanair started the line Trieste to Frankfurt-Hahn. Can somebody post the plan?I'm interested also for Hahn-Stansted plan.Thank youElprim
  15. > anyone who is using this PC, or one with similar specs > satisfactory with FSX?It's always the same story: define "satisfactory". Comparing to yours, my system is terrible: A64 3000+ 1G ram and radeon 9800pro 128M, and I still find it "satisfactory" after applying some published tweaks and playing with sliders. And I afforded even to enjoy in some small percent of moving traffic, all with avg 15 fps.Of course, running complex addons is out of question, and when 737NG comes out I'll be heading for a computer store.
  16. Thanks for your nice mini review. According to the reactions it seems you've managed to somewhat dissapoint us in our expectations. I think MS should make two versions: the cheap one, for the fun of "broad public" with all those arcade add-ons, costing say $40, and another one for us hard-cores, with all that what we expect from it (and we all know what it is), for some $140.-elprim
  17. I also want to say a big thank you for these lessons. And I don't even own 747 (yet). I think 90% of that knowledge can be use for 737 as well, am I right?I proves again that it is very difficult to learn flying just by reading dry manuals. If there wasn't that old great Tim Metzinger's tutorial for 737 I would never learn things properly (though Miscelaneous flying techniques from the original documentation were also very helpful).NC
  18. >> ..except of course that time Avsim seduced me into buying the >> 744 - day after day...Yes it sure does. But I am resisting because I think that flying these big birds simply cannot be very realistic.I don't know much about real flying but I suppose the 744 crew consists of 3, maybe 4 people. If a real world pilot would be forced to fly it all alone, taking all the FO's burden, and maybe the navigator's too (if there is a navigator at all), and have to handle everything including atc communication, I think even an expert pilot would spill a lot of sweat. So, how can I - an amateur - do better if the aircraft model is as detailed as they say? Even if I use something like fs2crew, even if I have a friend sitting next to me, doing some mousework, still if I could do it like in the real world I would make a flight video and immediately go search for a job in aviation business. So, I stick to my 737 and I believe it's the best I can handle single-handed.Or... maybe I am wrong?
  19. I am the kind of customer developers don't like very much cause I exercise a lot of discipline when buying an add-on. It's not easy nowadays with all those beauties released in the last year and especially after all those announcements for the following months. But I don't see much sense in buying things I will use only once or twice just because I would succumb to the first impulse after reading some advertisement.Right now I have only 2 aircraft, one a famous GA, the other a famous airliner, and I enjoy learning to fly them in the most realistic way I can. I would agree that having, say, four top payware aircraft is a reasonable limit, and my credit card shares this opinion.-regardsN.
  20. The link is on the 737-800/900 support page:An update is available to upgrade from v1.0 => v1.1 - Downloadresults with "The page can not be found".I did some search here and found an old message that service Packs are not available from the website. Is this the case here? (If it is, it would be a good idea to remove such announcements. I spent some time fixing my modem thinking my connection is broken.)regards-Neven
  21. HiThis is a little late reply but...I have the same joystick, and my assignments are:Aileron axis: X AxisElevator axis: Y AxisRudder Axis: Z RotationThrottle axis: SliderSo, select the throttle assignment, press Change Assignment, and move the throttle slider as instructed. If the slider itself is not damaged your assignment should turn from Z-axis to Slider.Hope you have fixed it in the meantime.Elprim
  22. This is a bit off-topic: I have never been in an airliner cockpit so I wonder if - like in Vatsim - pilots have the possibility to communicate with atc by typing on a keyboard (for instance in the case of strong interferences or mailfunctions)? Also, do they also have a push-to-talk button, or they can be permanently on-line with atc? Thanks (and dont laugh :)--------
  23. I'm also expressing my gratitude to developers. This question has been posted previously but just to remind you: Did anybody found those shortcuts to different panels (other than going through the FS menu)?Besides I'm also experiencing 6 fps in 2D view for some time after takeoff. Then it jumps to 24 fps (normal for my system) all by itself. Any news, observations, or solutions about that?
  24. Athlons have different ratings system, so P4 3.4 would be equivalent to Athlon64 3400+ which runs at 2.2 Ghz (11x200). The explanation of how can it run at lower freq. is a bit too technical for me, but experts say it is because:- more level-1 high-speed cache memory than the Intel Pentium IV, - shorter pipeline- more functional units- more instruction decoders(but don't ask me any details, better visit Google)For more than two years AMD had far better, faster, and techologically advanced processors so some 16 months ago, when I got myself a new rig, there was not much doubt about what to choose IMHO. However today Intel has some nice options too.
