  1. Yeah you wouldn't be flying into military only bases as a civilian unless an emergency existed. It's possible navigraph doesn't have the data for them though. I'll have to look. Or it could be a lot of airports in China where there is no data.
  2. I wonder if those 5000 ft airports are private strips or what? That seems odd to not include 5000 ft public airports. That would be an issue on the navigraph end of course. I looked on my.vfr sectional chart last night and found a totally random area that is very rural and navigraph had 2 tiny airstrips in the data - neither with IAPs, and one was a 2300 ft grass strip and the other a 2100 ft paved. A 2100 ft strip is super short for a public airport so I'm surprised the data would exclude 5000 ft strips IF it was public.
  3. I agree - flying a helicopter it is so nice to be able to look around everywhere as you approach the landing site.
  4. Oh I thought there was an option to enter it either way? I think in the WT avionics you CAN enter it that way too... origin, dest, then enroute fixes. I guess I've always just entered it in order that makes sense to me.
  5. What do you mean by MSFS logic? The WT Garmin avionics use the same logic as the TDS. I fly a Beech irl and it sports a GNS430W. The way I enter flight plans is the same as the TDS GTNxi. I enter my origin airport followed by waypoints and then the destination. As I near my destination I just press PROC to load an approach. If I'm flying locally, all I do is Direct To an airport, and load an approach. Or, one can just press PROC and select the airport/approach from there too. I just loaded the sim and entered the same flight plan the same way in the TDS vs the G5000 in the Longitude. While the G5000 has the labels origin, enroute, and destination, and the gtn doesn't - the entries are still the same order. For instance my simple flight plan was KPCZ RROBB SHEAY KMSP. I entered them in that order. Then I went to PROC and added the MUSCL3 arrival into MSP via SHEAY. Is yours not working like this?
  6. Absolutely. I frequently fly to airports without IAPs. Navigraph doesn't include private strips that I know of... there may be a few exceptions though.
  7. Nice pic - is that the one with the 30mm flashlight haha?
  8. There's a lot of them - this thread may get moved to the VR subforum. But I like the FSW C414, Learjet 35, I absolutely adore the Black square analog stuff like the TBM 850/King air/Bonanza/Baron And honestly I like buying addons that support the TDS GTNxi - because of its touch screen and (recently added) charts/navdata - I find the GTN far easier to manipulate in VR than the GNS530 or G1000. (I am not discounting those of course and WT has done an incredible job with our default avionics!!). That being said I prefer mostly analog avionics or a mix of analog and glass along with my GTN in VR.
  9. Basically if realistic looks are important to you (and now having updated data and charts), you'd want to use the TDS. PMS has a few features that the TDS does not YET have: Crossfill and "nexrad" - not having these in the TDS has never bothered me. Most simmers will fly directly through heavy rain (so what's the point of having precip displayed) and I already know everything I need to know about my flight plan using a single GTN unit. I think someone else mentioned that the TDS doesn't show tiny msfs default airports - this is true - however, the real Garmin doesn't show tiny strips either with a few minor exceptions. If displaying tiny default airports is very important to you you'll want to stick with PMS. At any rate, both PMS and TDS are constantly improving their products and adding new features. I could easily imagine TDS adding crossfill eventually.
  10. It's not a hack but it is genius in-depth coding that's taken a few years to plan and execute. This was all done by TDS and is not done by Garmin. Edit sorry that wasn't meant to come off snippy - just more of an informational thing.
  11. But you can use the autopilot buttons just above the attitude indicator - black square made that as an option.
  12. Yeah you might try posting on the just flight forums about it.
  13. You installed the trainer right? It's probably about a 1GB download from garmin I think.
  14. This IS the one with the trainer. And they have made it compatible with navigraph...
  15. For a default aircraft? The tbm 930 for sure. It's fast, sexy, and can get into shorter strips if needed with reverse pitch. Otherwise if you have premium deluxe the new cirrus is also very lovely. If you don't want glass I'd spend some money and get the black square TBM 850. It's not very complicated (if you want it to be it can), also sexy and nearly as fast as the 330.
  16. Also the GNS 530 is effectively disabled when paired with the TDS. This is an intentional design when using hot swappable avioncs. I would recommend putting on screen variables on tht gns530 not related to your flight plan (like ground speed etc) and then use the gtn to show FPL related variables. Or you could put up the traffic page on the GNS for situational awareness.
  17. Who doesn't love a Beaver? 🙂
  18. It's funny you chose that tail number in the 152... that was the first ever plane I flew in... it was a 160hp Piper Warrior II. Thanks for the airport I downloaded it last night!
  19. I already own the boring business jet (yes that was on purpose Lol). Need a real sexy corporate falcon or something
  20. I'd take a PMDG long range business jet... Falcon 7x/8x pretty puleaaase. Or a Global - i dont even need those new fancy avionics, just anything long range... mach .90 cruise 🙂
