  1. Hi Andy! Many thanks for the suggestion, but no deal, unfortunately. And turning the heading knob results in many iterations of — [E] *** LUA Error: C:\fsx\modules\linda/system/common.lua:9: attempt to index local 'actions' (a nil value) Unfortunately I won't get a chance to look at this for a day or so..... :( Cheers, Brian
  2. Many thanks, Günter! ^_^ I'm a bit pushed for time so only had a chance to quickly try it once. PMDG 777

Well done, Günter — great to know you're on the case! I must admit that I'm still wading through the documentation, myself..... Best wishes, Brian
  4. Sincere thanks, Helge! Mouse macros are one of those things that I really was always going to get around to one day — but time has gone by and somehow I still haven't. So I very much appreciate your helpful post. ^_^ Kind regards, Brian
  5. Ah, ATP — yes indeed, loved that sim. In fact I still have the manuals on my shelf (the brown one and the blue one) since they're so much a part of my simming history.... But back to the present, and the 777: those manuals are going to need half a shelf, I reckon — I'll order a giant economy pack of printer ink today...... ^_^ Cheers, Brian
  6. [O.T.] Hmm, this is developing into a Northerners' convention: Andy in Cheshire, Rob in Cumbria, and me a Scouser...... Cheers, guys! :drinks: Brian P.S. For the benefit of our international readers: Scouser (skaus-sir) Slang. A native or inhabitant of Liverpool.
  7. Hi Rob! That's great: the detailed guide was for people who needed to understand the background, as well as get some insight into the details, so just dip into it as and when you're ready. ^_^ > I only have one Saitek throttle quadrant but need to setup for two engines. Can Linda do this. Nope, sorry — LINDA does what LINDA does best, which is buttons, switches, and the VRinsight Combo. All axes are left to the tender care of FSUIPC (which is what *it* does best), so I would suggest a look at the FSUIPC docs for that — especially since I parted from my Saitek gear a little while ago in favour of Thrustmaster kit, so I'm not terribly into Saitek any more. I'll have a look around and see if I can find any notes from my Saitek days, though. All the best, Brian
  8. Then you should be hot to trot. B) The *only* guy that I know of (since I spent some time trying to help) who had problems, turned out in the end to be using a seriously ancient version of FSUIPC..... But if by any chance you do encounter anything strange, please don't hesitate to drop me a PM — or post a message on the LINDA forum. Cheers, Brian
  9. Hi Rob! Nah — they claim you have to install it so that you can identify the COM port to use, but that's not so, as I explain in the detailed manual (the first link I gave). Oh, and I forgot to mention — the latest version of the NGX module for LINDA gives you full display synchronisation. Of course, we only have about half the number of characters on our Combo screens than the v2 owners do, but LINDA does the best it can with what's available. Cheers, Brian
  10. I'm using the original VRinsight MCP Combo with the NGX with no problems whatsoever — but I use LINDA instead of the VRinsight software (I never even installed the VRinsight stuff). Since LINDA builds on the Lua support offered by FSUIPC, you will need the latest registered version of that, too — but LINDA itself is donationware. To review what LINDA is, and what's involved, I would suggest starting here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/376920-linda-beginners-guide-a-very-detailed-manual/ If you like what you see then download — * The official (terse, but invaluable) manual: http://fs-linda.com/downloads/Manual.pdf Then download and install LINDA and at least the NGX module for it — * LINDA v1.11 with add-on modules including the NGX: http://fs-linda.com/downloads/LINDA-v1.11.zip Have fun! Cheers, Brian
  11. Eric, Judging by your questions, you may find the more detailed manual of help. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/376920-linda-beginners-guide-a-very-detailed-manual/ Cheers, Brian
  12. Damn! Must have missed one! B) But my thanks for educating me about, er, XXX: and I'm sorry I misunderstood your question. I do hope you find a solution. Cheers, Brian
  13. Hi, er, Demon, > "I do not want to advertise for the DCS Series...." Which is why you felt impelled to mention it five times? (Sorry, couldn't resist it). Anyway, I don't use Saitek kit (pots are such old technology), but I was wondering if you were aware of Saitek Panels Advanced Driver a.k.a. SPAD? It's the best thing I know* for interfacing with Saitek panels, so just in case it helps, here's the link: http://fstools.weebly.com/ * Come to think of it, it's the only thing I know. Cheers, Brian P.S. Unfortunately, it transpires that SPAD and LINDA were developed using different toolsets, so there is no hope of combining them. :(
  14. @@NaMcO I downloaded the main library, but none of the VFR ones, so perhaps that's where the balloons are. 8-) Incidentally, I have just discovered a small problem with the scenery: it crashes the GSX pushback. Literally seconds after I took the second in the series of airport snaps I posted above, GSX crashed. The problem is repeatable, and occurs just after the psuhback guy says "Commencing push. All engines...." (he stops and the error message appears). The error is unique to LEMG, so I reckon that the AFCAD has to be responsible. Ah well, I'll just have to use the PMDG pushback for once.... ;-) Cheers, Brian
  15. @@NaMcO Er, balloons?? 88-| @@mosteen There is, as the saying goes, a lot of it about. The only time it has happened to me (so far) was on a flight from Heathrow to Texas. The thief cut a hole through the top of my case and rifled through the contents. I wouldn't have minded quite so much if exactly the same thing hadn't happened on the way back, but it did.... <sigh> Perhaps it was something I said..... 8-\ Cheers, Brian
  16. Hi Howard! My pleasure. :-) However, I did forget to add two important things: 1. *Sincere thanks* to the kind (and talented) AirHispania folks who made these available to us. 2. The installation sequence:- I didn't download the VFR stuff (what's VFR, and who needs it? ;-) ), but I took several of the available options from the download page which was kindly provided by NaMcO, and set them up in individual folders as follows: 0 pdf list of airports and aerodromes 1 required libraries 2 airports and aerodromes (v2) 3 update 4 miscellaneous 5 setup configurator v0.4 I then worked through folders 1 - 5 in sequence, running the exe files, and finally ran the configurator (<fsx dir>\Addon Scenery\scx.exe), selecting Malaga and also "compljo" (complex) (I didn't include Bilbao since I already have another version). I also enabled static aircraft (Aviones estáticos), and trees (Árboles). The exe files package the files very nicely: the only thing they don't do is to add the files to the scenery library for you. In the absence of any explicit instructions about what order to use, I added the following layers to my scenery.cfg (ignore the layer numbers, they're simply to indicate that I put the airports at the top):- Layer 291 "AirHispania airports" [...Addon Scenery\AirHispania SCX Aerodromos] Layer 290 "AirHispania miscellaneous" [...Addon Scenery\AirHispania SCX Varios] Layer 289 "AirHispania libraries" [...Addon Scenery\AirHispania SCX Librerias] I'm not sure whether that is the correct installation sequence, but so far it seems to be working for me. 88-) Cheers, Brian
  17. Deep sympathies, Ron, although to be fair I don't think the problem is entirely unique to Malaga. 8-\ @@howard OK, here are a few snaps — hopefully, enough to give you a clue what it looks like. I've also added the EFB chart, which is generated from the airport data, so you can see what's included. Hope it helps, Cheers, Brian and the EFB-generated chart of the airport -
  18. Hi Howard! Sure, no problem: when I get back to my main machine I'll post a few, soon. Cheers, Brian
  19. Many thanks indeed for the pointer to this I have zero knowledge of Spanish, but a little judicious use of Google Translate soon got me up and running. I was interested to find a "complejo" (complex) version of Bilbao included as well, not to mention a whole raft of smaller Spanish airports and aerodromes which would be great for the VFR enthusiasts amongst us But I'm very happy with their Malaga implementation, so thanks again. :-) Cheers, Brian
  20. You're welcome, my friend — the NGX is without doubt the best aircraft I've ever flown in my simming life: I love it even more than the 744, which is saying a lot. My best regards to Warton, too: I did visit there once when I was working for what was in those days Hawker Siddeley Aviation <nostaligc sigh>.... Cheers, Brian
  21. My pleasure, Rick! Incidentally, one other little gotcher to watch out for is that your flight plans will be in <fsx folder>\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS\NGX (and not <fsx folder>\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS with your other PMDG FPs), which can also catch you out if you're juggling information from flight planners. Clear skies! Brian
  22. Hi Rick! Don't forget that the NGX very specifically does not import flight plans containing SIDs and STARs. I make a simple flight plan route in FSC (i.e. without any SIDs and STARs) which I import into EFB, and also into the NGX as a CoRoute. Then, in EFB I select the appropriate SIDs, STARs, and transitions, and simply add those to the NGX flight plan using the DEP ARR pages. You can then save the flight, if you wish to, of course. Cheers, Brian
  23. Of course, there's always LINDA v1.11 with the NGX module v1.9. No problems, fullscreen or windowed. http://forum.avsim.net/forum/424-linda/ Cheers, Brian
  24. @Robert Hmm, my understanding is that Navigraph is perfectly willing to provide the data, and that we are awaiting currently Christian's decision as to whether he will support both. From the point of view of providing customer choice I can't imagine why he wouldn't — unless, of course, some "commercial considerations" <*cough*> are involved. ;-) Cheers, Brian
  25. Another vote for TOPCAT as a must-have for serious simulation. Soon to be joined by PFPX, of course. Cheers, Brian
