  1. You can move whole Documents folder to the different drive, use symlink that points to the Prepad3D addons folder on the different drive or even add additional location to store the addons (this is nicely explained in the docs).
  2. Yes, when he released his updated shaders I switched to Dx10 as well. I love VC self shadowing too.
  3. That's true, but Dx10 self shadowing requires more or less closed geometry. You have to be careful to avoid gaps in the shadows. A2A C172 will have full Dx10 support with self shadowing in VC though.

    Rogue System

New space sim on the Kickstarter: This has to be funded. It's basically hardcore sim in space. Game simulates spacecraft systems (like DCS/BMS), has clickable cockpit, and good potential. And it's a labor of love. Developer learnt programming to make a space sim he wanted to play since he was young. I'm not related to the developer, or the project, but I'd love to see that one funded.
  5. - FSX itself. I bought it at day one, and despite it's flaws I loved it since the beginning. The best flight sim I have. - VRS F/A-18E SuperBug, together with F-16 from BMS 4.32 it's my favourite combat jet. - ORBX PNW and PFJ. - Ultimate Terrain X Europe. - Dodosim Bell 206. The ultimate helicopter simulation on the PC. - Captain Sim C-130E.
  6. No, actually I'm not, and that's a good thing today. Thanks for your answer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. After flying in DCS and Rise of Flight lack of VC shadows in FSX is a big issue. Fixed Dx10 would be a massive improvement. Thanks again.
  7. Thank you for this, Steve. I haven't tried your fixes yet, but will do it tomorrow morning. I'm curious, is it possible to add a dithering to Dx10 VC shadows? It's the last big drawack of Dx10 mode.
  8. There are more aircraft with collimated HUD in FSX - VRS F/A-18E, Iris A-10A and F-15E, Aerosoft F-16, and few more. First aircraft with collimated gunsight were A2A warbirds, back in FS9. PMDG is first with true HUD in civilian plane. To be honest I can't stand fixed HUD anymore.
  9. That would be true few years ago, but today digital distribution is taking the lead. Game stores are full of console, not PC games, and there are not many flight sims among them. It's more a matter of brand recognition, not boxed product on the shelf. I'd say more simmers are recruited on the forums like this one, or even Facebook than in the game stores.
  10. Of course FSX planes are more expensive. On the other hand planes for RoF are $7.62 for single seaters with beautiful cockpits.Flight is different game than FSX, I don't think that FSX pricing rules apply here. At least for me.
  11. Because it's not finished yet.
  12. http://en.wikipedia..../Uncanny_valleyI'm not a big fan of photographic textures, but have to admit, autogen looks very good.
  13. Cool, hope to see your sim on my PC one day. Don't have an iOs or WinPhone7 phone/tablet (Android user here), so can't try mobile version, but best wishes to you.
  14. I have these default settings as well, and I use FSX everyday ;)
  15. Take a look at cloud shadow here:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/202612/forums/FA-22A_1.jpg And here:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/202612/forums/FA-22A_2.jpgOn the second screenshot cloud shadow should be on the right side of the HUD. On the first screen shadow is at the lake, on second it moved very far from the lake. When I leveled after barrel roll shadow moved back to it's position at the lake. Position of the shadow is not fixed to the ground but relative to the screen. It's clearly wrong.Shadow settings are global (medium), HDR off.
  16. Is it me, or cloud shadows on the ground are acting weird. They are ok in level flight, but when I do a barrel roll clouds shadows are moving on the terrain. When I go back to the level flight they move back to their position. Same thing with moving my head with TrackIR, but it's less noticeable.Does anybody has this issue too?
  17. It wasn't necessary.Video looks good for quad core and advanced flight dynamics for each plane. XPlane 10 will have higher requirements than XP9, so it's not good example of performance though.Just curious, will XPlane 10 introduce seasons?
  18. My point is that we don't know how big is performance hit with large number (more than ten) of AI planes. I guess XPlane 10 will need very fast computer for all the features, but it will use new hardware much better than FSX does (which doesn't use it at all ). I'm really looking forward to XPlane 10, but I'm most interested how Europe and Asia looks like.
  19. Austin said: "If you have 20 processors, then you can run TWENTY AI PLANES WITH BASICALLY ZERO FRAME-RATE HIT."I doubt that dual or quad core processor will be able to run 20 AI planes with decent framerates. Maybe I'm wrong though. It depends how efficient is FM code.
  20. Do you guys really think that guys at Aces, or other simulation devs were/are thinking about money only? If it wasn't a passion they would make another Call of Duty game, not flight sim.
  21. I like FSX, and I'm not a fan of XPlane 9, does it makes me a ######? I've tried both, and simply chose the one that suits me better. XPlane 10 has my interest, but I'll wait and see how it will look. And I'm not going to argue where you can find more ###### ;) It is possible to install and use both sims, right? That's what I'm going to do. Not for me. I'm not a fan of photosceneries, that's why I'm interested in XPlane 10 and it's technology.
  22. Thanks for info. Any chances for screenshots of European cities? ;)
