  1. You all are way over my head at this point as my question was really only pertaining to FSX/737 ngx. I hope to be able to have the same questions one day and be able to swap stories as far as RW flying with you all but my wife/kids, etc. are keeping me grounded for the time being if you know what Im sayin! Thanks again for all your imput.
  2. WOW!!! Thanks for passing along this great info for me to study! :(
  3. So you would want a ILS over a RNAV unless the airport is not equiped with ILS? Im just trying to figure out why the need for an airport to have RNAV AND ILS options for the same runway. Take for an example KTPA - I can choose ILS for 1R or RNAV for 1 R. What would be the situation for RNAV to be used over ILS when both options are available?
  4. So RNAV is a more visual type approach where the pilot is responsible on his/her own for the final G/S path?
  5. Just out of curiosity... what kind of approaches are you all flying, ILS or RNAV and why would one be more appropriate than the other? Also... question #2, if flying a RNAV app. do you also program the ILS frequency or do you just rely on VNAV for descent to the runway? Thanks in advance, Jim
  6. I still miss Nick N's words or wisdom from here. Fortunately though he lives on elsewhere and so maybe will Jaman! :(
  7. It ran like @#$%! Thanks to alot of GREAT people here and no longer hear, and you all know who they are, as well as the the i7 CPU's we can all enjoy FSX.Happy landings!
  8. Well that helped a little..... very little. I have to be honest with you.... I have never seen a case of the blurries this bad ever! Yes, try no autogen like Noah has mentioned and see how she goes. Is all this happening from a FRESH FSX install? Has it never look good or has it just become this way? If it is a first time installation you MUST MUST MUST MUST run a HD defrag as you HD will be a complete mess after a FSX install.I also want you to try this setting change in your video card..... go into inspector and on your FSX profile find a area names "MAXIMUM PRERENDERED FRAMES" it should be at the default of 3 but change it to a value of 1. Apply the change and exit and give FSX another try and see while keeping all the settings you have already made.
  9. OK... Here is what I would try if I were you but do keep in mind that your Pentium CPU is the main issue here but I think we can help you get something more enjoyable with some setting changes but the sim wont look like what you see in all the videos floating around.1 - Leave your inspector settings as they are per my instructions from my link in a previous post.2 - Get rid of Bojotes tweeks by deleteing or renaming your CFG3 - Launch FSX and let it build a new CFG. Once back in FSX change your settings to the following. If I dont mention a setting to change that means you can set it however you wish.(GRAPHICS TAB)Set your Frame Rate Lock to 20Filtering to Trilinear (as long as you have it set up as per my previous posts instructions)UN-Check AA (as long as you have it set up as per my previous posts instructions)Set Global Texture Resolution to MAX (Very High)(Aircraft TAB)UN-Check the 2 aircraft Shadow options(Scenery TAB)Set Level of Detail Radius to Medium (because of your CPU)Mesh set to 80 (because of your CPU)Mesh Resolution set to 38Texture Resolution set to 1mSet Water to Low 1.xSet Scenery Complexity to DenseSet Autogen to NormalMake sure ground scenery shadows is UN checked(Weather TAB)Cloud draw distance set to 60 milesSet thermal visuals to noneDetail Cloud Coverage Density set to High(Traffic TAB)For the inital test lets turn off ALL traffic in all the catagories. We will come back to this tab after you do a few test runs.Press OK and load up a flight and use one of the default fsx aircraft like the cessna and see how it goes. After doing this test please post back with your results.
  10. You have your video card settings all wrong for best visuals. See this post and follow it to the letter.http://www.simforums.com/forums/fsx-and-nhancer-settings-for-new-drivers-updated_topic36586.htmlSet filtering to Trilinear in FSX and uncheck AA.
  11. YOu see no difference at all changing the filtering? What are you using to control your video card settings, Enhancer, Inspector, Nvidia CP?
  12. What is your texture filtering set at? Make sure you have ansiotropic selected.Jim
  13. I agree with both of you guys. Mitch I felt exactly the same as you when I read this yesterday and agree with your post here word for word. At the same time I also agree with what EngineRoom has said in reply. My first thought was ... Heck, I remember when FSX first came out and all the negative posts on it but they never shut down the FSX forum.... Fast forward a few years later and now for the most part we are all enjoying our FSX especially with all the great add-ons available to us now. The thing I dont like about the forum closing, and I really never read it that much and only posted in it at best 2 or 3 times, is that I feel that AVSIM is trying to tell us what we can or cant read based on their own opinion and not the "community". I do think though that derogatory threads or personal attacks SHOULD be removed from any forum. If those types of posts are allowed to be kept then that sets the wrong tone overall and it will run amuck in no time. What will FLIGHT bring????? Who the hell knows and frankly I dont even care all that much as my FSX install/add-ons are doing the job well enough. When they re-open the forum on Wed. after the launch of FLIGHT, the whole circus will most likely only pick up where it left off.... what then, close it down again if the threads/posts dont give everbody a warn fuzzy feeling?
  14. Looks GREAT!!!! I have more or less stopped flying the Super80 pro as I found the blank gauge problem too annoying. Other than that I really liked it as it is great on the FPS. I could overlook the flat look to the gauges if they can fix the blank gauge problem.
  15. I ran it all the time till I got the NGX. When I run it with the NGX as soon as I load it into the sim I loose all AA. Now after running FSX without ENB I can say I really miss it all that much. Sure I did for the first few flights without it but not anymore. I read where a few others had the same problem as me but never found any solution to fix it. I say try it and if it works for you then continue to do so.Jim
  16. ... I read the article and all I can say is "Damn.... just Damn". I also will not be drinking the "Flight KoolAid". I think that most of the members here will quickly find Flight to fall way short of the threshold (punn intended). I cant imagine a flight sim world without my 737 ngx thanks to PMDG or great ground textures thanks to GEX or stunning weather thanks to (for me at least) FEX and the great FREEware from FSrealWX and the most important thing that I love about FSX is that I can go ANYWHERE in the world I want and have a great flight sim experience without having to dish out extra cash to fly there. To me the article pretty much said "too bad suckers" to us hardcore simmers and hello to little Timmy and Johnny. I frankly could give a rats @$$ about FLIGHT and am perfectly happy to keep using FSX for many years to come. I feel the 3PD's are just cracking the ice with what can be done and feel we will see many many more GREAT add-ons in the future. One other thing that REALLY bothers me is that I am reading new topics where we are being told to more or less shut up about FLIGHT. I for one welcome and encourage one to speak their mind, good or bad, and to leave it to the individual to decide for themself. So if you are one that will use FLIGHT... I say go for it and have fun flying laps around the big island. I for one will have fun flying laps around the virtual FSX world.
  17. I would add to that UTX. UTX will make your land class, cities, lakes, rivers, coastlines etc match to real life as far as placement of them. It works very well with GEX and like GEX is sold by region. I own GEX NA and Europe as well as UTX USA, Canada, and Europe. The thing about UTX though is that if not setup right it can really hurt your performance. The two biggies that hurt it is the added car traffic it can add and the night lighting. I run with UTX's night lighting OFF but I do run with car traffic on at 12% but sometimes have it off also. Another option also is Scenery Tech landclass when used with GEX and UTX fill in the gaps where the other 2 dont. Here http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic29041.html is probably the best advice you will EVER read about how to setup FSX and it also mentions the options I have talked about. For the clouds/weather the new ActiveSky 2012 seems to be the top dog in that area but I am still using FEX and for the weather engine I am using FSrealWX Lite which btw is FREE. FSrealWX has come a LONG way since it first came out and it works perfectly on my system. It will soon though become a payware as the developer has made it available for free for the last year or so and we the users became his beta testers. The last version they released works GREAT. Well, that gives you alot of info to digest and alot of options/money to look at and spend but IMHO the GEX/UTX combo is a MUST have.Jim
  18. Yes Jack, still using good ol XP64. I havent seen the need to change over yet.
  19. The buzzing goes away on its own when I am back in the FSX window. I am using SoundMAX on my ASUS MOBO if it matters.
  20. Today was the first time I have flown on VATSIM in the 737 NGX and am wondering if anybody else has this issue. When flying VATSIM and if I switch to look at VATSPY or look at my weather program or go to the internet I get a buzzing sound. When I go back into the cockpit the buzzing goes away. I have tried different sound settings and different acceleration settings with no luck. Anything I can do to remedy this?
