  1. If it runs nice and smooth than you can put it on whatever your system can handle. Be aware though just because your current settings work in on area doesnt mean they will work in another. As far as the scenery slider, most people run it maxed out but even that may need to be a notch lower, especially in NYC. Also the scenery slider turns on the jetways at dense. That means if you are using stock FSX AI then the jetways will also move at a performance cost. I use Ut2 and am able to turn off the jetway calls that make them move, allowing me to run max scenery slider. It is all a try it and see as far as settings go. - Jim
  2. Have you tried playing around with the PRE-RENDER setting for your video card? I had this problem especially around EHAM where no matter what I would get AG spikes. After changing my pre-render to 1 from the default of 3 the went away. By making this change and this is my opinion on it, you are matching up your CPU/GPU to work more in harmony with each other. With a setting of 3 your CPU will render 3 frames ahead before sending that info to your GPU. With a setting of 1 your CPU will only render 1 frame ahead of what your GPU is rendering which in turn makes a faster almost 1 to 1 exchange of information between the two. This setting change also fixed for me where I would experience what I call surges in the SIm. Big FPS swings which for what ever reason I only get in a few areas of the FSX world. One area I would get this is at Toncontin. The Pre-Render setting of 1 fixed it in that area for me. Try it and see and be sure to lock your FPS internally or with a limiter. Try 28 FPS for a lock and see how it goes. - Jim
  3. Nice shots Brandon! I that MS LV looks great, may have to pick that up as well! Jim
  4. No problems here and I just did a flight yesterday to Fly Tampa's KMDW. The only thing I can think of is that maybe you hit the key combo that turns off or resets UT2 traffic by accident while you were flying. Also make sure you have UT2 set up to not remove traffic based on your FPS. JIm
  5. It may or may not be the driver. If you guys/gals are having issues AND you have ENB mod try removing the ENB mod and see how it works. For some reason I cant run ENB with the NGX. When I do I loose my AA and my frames really drop. Take the ENB out and I am locked at 30 again. Just a suggestion to try. Jim
  6. If using UT2 and you are not seeing alot of traffic the reason is that there probably isn't alot of traffic at that airport. In the UT2 UI you can look and see how much traffic will be at any given airport. Some airports may see only 1 or 2 flights in a hour and some others like KATL can see 150+ flights in the same hour. If the OP main drive with a AI package is to simply see alot of traffic at all airports than UT2 would not suit his needs very well. If he wants real world schedules/routes then UT2 is the way to go and all the settings you can make with it makes it even better IMHO. The very important other issue also is with the AFCAD being used. IF the airport AFCAD does nor have enough parking spots assigned to it then even if the airport should have 200 flights active you will only see the traffic based on parking. One good example is at CYVR as with the default AFCAD it only has 1 heavy parking sopt. After installing a better AFCAD there are several just like in real life. With the new AFCAD for there the amount of traffic is increased greatly. Jim
  7. I followed your instructions and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the help! Jim
  8. VATSIM for me but I am not a diehard as I like to fly off line as well. Havent done a VATSIM flight yet with the NGX but I will when I am more familiar with the systems. Jim
  9. Thanks Stephen, that make perfect sense. I will try it out and let you know how it goes. Jim
  10. I have all 3 installed with no problems with CTD's. At first I had issues but after getting rid of the ENB mod all my problems went away. Jim
  11. Have you run a defrag after installin NGX?
  12. The NGX made me re-evaluate my settings and I too went with normal autogen. I lowered my UT2 commercial traffic to 46% which I am finding is a nice level to run with. Plenty of traffic to look at and parking spots available and no traffic jams waiting to takeoff. Jim
  13. Lovin my 737 NGX!

  14. I am trying (key word trying) to fly KLAX - KLAS. My route is LOOP6 DAG KEPEC2. I looked at Flightaware.com and they were flying it at FL270 or FL290. I decided to go 270 as it is a short hop to KLAS. My problem is that using FL270 or even lower I am getting UNABLE NEXT ALT on the CDU. What am I doing wrong and how do I correct it? BTW I loaded 1/3 fuel with a random pass/cargo setting if that matters. Thanks in advance for the help. Jim
  15. All good here with all the hotfixes installed. The only problem I have had is that the ENB Series mod does not like my 737 NGX. I thought that I would be un-happy without ENB but after a week now flying without it I dont miss it and as a added bonus no NGX issues at all. I run max scenery, normal autogen, 2x water, 80 nm cloud draw, 46% UT2 commercial traffic, no cars or airport vehicles, along with all the other must haves (GEX, UTX, FEX, FSrealWX) with very nice performance. I would get rid of ENB if you are using it and see if you have better luck. Jim
  16. No, use this link and simply enter your DEP/AR airports. You will then be shown all the latest routes currently being flown real world. Only works for US though. http://flightaware.com/analysis/route.rvt Jim
  17. Just wondering what you all are doing as far as the derated thrust settings for takeoff. Are you setting it and if so which option are you using? Thanks, Jim
  18. ENB is gone.... gone I say!!! Not one issue with the NGX since I got rid of ENB. Also after flying around today with no ENB MOD I also have noticed a few other little issues I was having are also gone. To each his own though in the crazy FSX world we all play in. Jim
  19. For me its FSrealWX. It is a FREE weather engine with some good options includes like wind smoothing, multiple cloud layers, turbulance, surface winds, ect. ect. LOVE IT! JIm
  20. I could be wrong but I thought I recently read here that it didnt matter when the 737 was loaded as far as in sim or at the free flight window. Are you saying to load the 737 from within the sim once at your start location? Edit: found it, taken from the introduction documentation: "There is a common misconception that when loading a complex simulation like the PMDG 737NGX that you should first load the default Cessna into the simulator, then load the PMDG 737NGX. This is not a factual conception and in fact we do not recommendthe practice at all." Jim
  21. I have been playing around with this great bird now for the last 2 days straight (wife is getting mad but she will just have to get over it) and today I have noticed a problem with the ENB mod. Here is my scenario: This issue started to show while I was at Fly Tampa's KTPA. I started the sim up as normal. What I experienced was very very low FPS. The weird thing is that I got better FPS in the VC than I did in the 2D almost by half. Also my AA went away so I then went on my journey to remedy this problem. After a couple hours of trying this and that I have found the culprit (for me at least). Even before seeing this problem, every time the 737 would load in the sim I would get the green bar with the countdown of the systems startup. While this was going on my screen would flash every time the countdown numbers changed and it was at this time that my AA would go bye bye. I am running good old 182.50 drivers with nhancer as per Nick N setup guide. The only way I could keep any AA was to use FSX's crappy AA and this was just not going to work for me. I mean what good is this beautiful bird if you cant see her in all her glory! Well after more messing around trying everything I decided to remove the ENB mod. What I then noticed was during the 737 startup sequence countdown.... no more flashing and ........... my AA stayed put!!!! I have verified this several times with and without it and the results were consistant. Along with my AA staying mu FPS were back up to 25 VC and in the 30's 2D at KTPA!!! I would from time to time see the big FPS difference from VC/2D but nver made the connection as to why. Something at KTPA/Fly Tampa's scenery made this problem show big time and at default sceneries it would not show. Bottom line is if you are seeing FPS problems especially between VC and 2D AND you are using the ENB mod you may want to remove it and see if it helps you. - Jim
  22. Im a newbie to PMDG and I guess I have been spoiled with my CoolSky MD-80 interactive training. Even the Level D 767 explains start up from a cold cockpit but the manuals seem a bit info overload for me at least. Can you point me to some kind of tutorial to start from cold and dark?
