  1. Your background texture should be all your details, you should put the layer you paint above the background layer and the paint layer itself being made into a multiply layer will in essence make it see through. Myself when I do paints I usually have a below paint detail layer for all the stuff under the paint, then the paint layer then an above paint layer followed by a decal layer if I put a bunch of lettering etc on the paint.
  2. The other way if your interested is to go into the particular aircrafts .cfg file and where it says atcID delete the tail number there, then you wont have to worry about the tail number thing being checked.
  3. If your talking about the Gateway FX series, I kind of got shafted, I bought the 6831 and they came out with the one with the specs you listed a month after I bought mine for the same price so I was mad! but that being said, go with the gateway, I have upgraded mine to raid 0 with 2 10000 rpm raptor drives and it runs a treat.
  4. Sounds more like a generic "insert customer name here and hit send: type of thing, I have called tech support twice with registry issues, once in teh USa which was great and once to India which was brutal to say the least with the language barrier.
  5. I have had this for about 8 months, its a fantastic program, I have over 100 paints and I have also spent some time programming in custom flight plans so I use only my programmed flights and its amazing to add that helo realism.
  6. I am one of the HD painters that lurks over at OZx, we just completed the bell 206 HD and for my part I used paint.net, I also have CS3 but only use that for the tricky things that PDN cant do, I really enjoy its simplicity and its free, you only need to add a .dll for it to be able to read .PSD (most all paint kits come in this layered format) files.if you need more pointers come on over to the paint forums at www.aussiex.com

  15. Yeah the Hovercontrol folks are as happy as larks, If all else fails we will have the manual installer up by Monday latest, we just cant get the download page up tiill then, less than 48 hours though guys not too long.Cheers
  16. Cheers all, but I am just one part of the team, there are 3 of us that put this together, well as with all great projects we hit a snag on the installer side and we have to wait for input from someone who is not available over the weekend so unfortunately you will have to salivate till at least Monday guys, sorry for the delay but it was unavoidable, we want to make the installer as painless as possible and we were offered a life line that will make our installer fully automated with no need to mess with a .cfg entry. That being said though we already have a backup installer ready to rock if we cant get it ironed out relatively quickly.Cheers
  17. We are 24 to 36 hours out from launch guys, just making sure she works right.
  18. Heads up guys, the final RTM beta of the installer went out to the beta testers a few hours ago, once the results are in, providing no final bugs are found we should be good to launch the download in the next 24 hours.
  19. Dave, At this point yes it is purely a graphic rework, I personally fly the Bell 206L in RL and the dynamics are pretty good for a default on the 206, an Auto in a bell you can cruise to the ground at about 60 knots. This one actually drops faster than in RL.
  20. We are on short finals so you know. We are waiting on one other scheme from one of the painters and finalising the manual and installer. Should be within 7 days max, look out for a preview video in the next few days. :)
  21. Just to back up on what Gizmo was elaborating on about FPS hits. I have about half the system he does, a T5550 1.83 GHz 3gb ram laptop and one of the beta testers has an even slower system than me and also reports zero FPS drop flying this model. I am also working on extra paints for a second release, so there will be plenty of extra initial paints for this shortly after release. G'day Tim, thought I better start making appearances in other places and diversify! and yeah Giz, I havent mastered the subtle small pic "click to enlarge" aspect yet :)
  22. Cheers mate, yeah its taken 3 of us a few months to get it to this point.
  23. Should be ready in about a week or so.
  24. I know that helicopters are an aquired taste and microsofts versions have been shall we say "basic" to say the least. Well a yeam of us over at www.aussiex.org who as you may know produce the fantastic AussieX freeware airports for Australia, also have a dedicated group of painters, and an even smaller group of High Definition painters. This porject has taken us over 3 months and now that we are getting close to a release I wanted to post some screen shots for everyone to look at. We will post the finished product link shortly. But to give you an idea, pretty much the only thing that remains default is the fact that MS created the model for it to sit on.Cockpit is about a week out so still a work in progressFeedback?
