  1. Hello, I have a six year old desktop, running FSX. which is beginning to show its age, although I also have P3D v3 on another on another desktop, I would like to update the FSX system, which is;- Motherboard Gigabyte Z68X-UD4-B3, CPU Intel i7 2600K Sandybridge 3.40Ghz, GPU NVidia GTX 580 DDR5 1536 Mb, Memory Corsair 8Gb Vengeance 1600Mhz, Hard Disc Seagate 1TB 32Mb Cache. I suspect the main improvements could be made with updated CPU & Graphics, but not being a hardware buff, I would appreciated other simmers comments. Thanks Mike
  2. I have been using ORBX Norway, along with Vector since its release, and am really enjoying flying both IFR & VFR over this beautiful panoramic scenery. ORBX have done a great job I would also strongly recommend the superb photo realistic airports of Norway by Andrew Thomsen, available freeware from AVSIM, this to me is the icing on the cake, truly payware quality renditions of airports, for both FSX and P3D. Mike
  3. Thank you Shezryar for a payware class piece of scenery, works great in both FSX & P3Dv3.1, My wife and I visited old friends in Richmond 12years ago, it brings back treasured memories of visiting the air museum there...... now I understand sadly closed. We met and were taken around the exhibits by a marvellous gentleman John Bannister. ex fighter pilot who flew with the 364th FG, 8th Air Force in WWII, based at RAF Honington just a short distance from where we live in UK. As an ex glider pilot and aviation enthusiast the whole visit was totally unforgettable.
  4. Thank you for your comments chaps, like Michael I think i'll hang on a little and await further developments. Many Thanks Mike
  5. I have been using ASN, Rex Essentials plus and soft clouds in P3D v3.1, for a considerable time ,quite happily, but, I would appreciate comments on the new Hi Fi software. Is it really a game changer?.
  6. Hi David I now firmly believe that to use FS2004 with a windows XP OS,it is essential to have a an older card ,and driver,it seems that Nvidia 400/500 series will work satifactorily with a driver 314.22 and earlier. any later driver suffers with the aforesaid textural issues. Mike
  7. Further experience with the GTX750 card, I find by unchecking "transform & lighting" in the hardware settings ,the problem is completely solved, however, the price you pay is very blurry scenery when in flight, and the frame rates are reduced almost by half.....always a trade off haha.
  8. Thanks Peter, That's one action I have not exploited, worth a go. It would be nice to know whether anyone else out there uses GTX750TI on a windows XP OS, mine is XP Pro.
  9. Thanks A32 will try, however I've also read some comments elsewhere that this texture issue started with Nvidia driver updates after 320.00.... there are no earlier drivers for this card.
  10. Thanks for your comments.Interestingly I purchased the GTX750TI last week last week but found the texture quality unacceptable ,ie white doors on the c172 as well as white props and spinners in exterior views, some aircraft were unaffected texturally, but altogether obviously not compatible with my OS, tried the GT610...exactly the same no good, I would also add that I use Nvidia Inspector for fine antialiasing tuning. I'm beginning to suspect that I need to get a really older card to get the superb textural quality of my defunct ATI HD5750, would appreciate more comments before I shell out further. Thanks Mike
  11. Recently my old ATI Radeon HD5750 card has given up the ghost . I would appreciate any recommendations for any newer compatible card, Nvidia or AMT I want to keep my existing OS, which is :- Windows XP Intel DP%%WB inc Core i7-870 2.93Ghz 8mb 2 KVR 2GB 1333Mhz DDR3 1 PSU500 Zalman 500W 1PSU Seasonic 350W Thanks Mike
  12. Just installed the new driver, seems to be a considerable improvement in aircraft external appearance in v3.1. anyone noticed?
  13. Hi again Having started this thread, I decided to check KMCO on my other OS running FSX, and trees are evident all over the airport there too, I have ORBX LC, Global, Vector, regions etc on both. I since shelled out on T2G KMCO, my first scenery addon from that team, and am simply delighted with their product, superb detail throughout, and excellent performance.
  14. Sorry mistaken still persists.
  15. Many thanks for your comments guys, the P3D cfg addition solved the issue.
  16. Hi The default airport is covered with autogen trees, no conflicting addons for KMCO, running v3.1. anyone experienced this issue. Mike King
  17. Hi, Just delete two bgl's from the Scenery world/scenery folder:- FTX_ENG_EGJJ__elevation adjustment & FTX_ENG_EGJB_elevation adjustment, leave the EGJA untouched. FSX & P3D Mike
  18. Hi, The latest update has caused elevation problems with the Channel Island airports, which can not be corrected with the Vector elevation configurator, this is in FSX. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Regards Mike
  19. On the opening ASN page, Click weather mode, click "LIVE", suggest you read the manual. Michael King
  20. Hello, Having just downloaded the latest Orbx libraries, with the new FTX Central 2 incorporated, I discover there is an updated version of YBCS available , so I have to uninstall from FSX in order to download and install the new, am I right in thinking the procedure for doing this is:- 1. Delete YBCS from the FSX scenery library...no matter its position in scenery order 2. Manually delete YBCS folder from ORBX,FTX AU folder 3. Manually delete cpl_ybcs & scenerylib ybcs from the ORBX scripts folder 4. Manually delete ybcs from the ORBX user guide folder Advise appreciated Regards Mike Michael King
  21. Hi Yes the DVD update is released, the third reply on this page above has the download link. Mike Michael King
  22. Hi, I stand corrected, yes it is......got wrong update initially. Mike Michael King
  23. Hi Tom, Posed that question to Aerosoft, they confirmed:- 1 Uninstall 600/70 2 Install 600/700 d/load from PMDG 3 Uninstall CDROM 800/900 4 Install CDROM 800/90 5 Patch if 600/700 display no gauges. However this is not updating 800/900 to the latest sp d version a little misleading to say the least. Regards Mike Michael King
