Thanks! I obviously didn't read that bit as carefully as I should. Sorry.

Can't access the menu on the CDU...
I'm sorry if this question has been asked. I did search the forum, but didn't find anything. After loading the cold and dark panel state (777 CLDDRK), then switching the battery ON, everything remains blank (off?). In the PMDG-777-Introduction.pdf, it says: I can turn the APU on, but until it is actually running, I see nothing at all (the VC remains cold and dark). No Displays and nothing on the CDU's. I want to use ground power until just prior to engine start (my preference), when I will turn the APU on to start them. Unfortunately, because the three CDU's remain blank, I can't access the menu to be able to connect the ground power. I have also searched through the manuals to see if I am doing something wrong, or I've missed something, but I found nothing except what it says in the PMDG-777-Introduction.pdf. Any help is appreciated. Mark

Captain sim 737-200 Base pack has been released
I'm flying the 737-200 Base Pack (Stage II) quite a lot and I'm providing feedback with issues. I'm hoping that this leads to a better product at Stage III. If doing that isn't for you, just wait until the finished product. That's what I would do if I didn't want to be involved in the Community Involvement Program. Those who bought the 737-200 (before 6th March 2012) had to buy the 737-100, because 737-200 Expansion Model was pretty useless without it. 737-100 Exterior Model required was there in black and white on the product page for the 737-200. This isn't the case after the 6th March 2012.Mark

Captain sim 737-200 Base pack has been released
If you buy an Exterior Model from Captain Sim, e.g. B-52 BUFF Exterior, when the B-52 Driver was released, to get your 9.99 Euro discount, you needed to purchase the B-52 Driver Upgrade.Although the Upgrade version has everything that the B-52 Driver has, you need to have the B-52 BUFF Exterior Model installed to be able to install the B-52 Driver Upgrade. This applies to every time you want to install the B-52 Driver. This following is from the page where you select to buy the 737-200 Base Pack upgrade: I think that last line, that I underlined, in the quote, should be in BOLD print so that it stands out much better so people don't discard required files.I don't think that Captain Sim quite understand the complications they have caused by switching from the 737-100 as the Base Pack to the 737-200 as the Base Pack. In my opinion, Todd has a valid point about having purchased the 737-100 (which he never wanted and now no longer needs) because he had to, just so that he could use the 737-200. How many others are in that position? For me this isn't a problem because I wanted and bought both the 737-100 and 737-200. And I always keep a backup of every downloaded file from the time of purchase onwards. I have them all backed up on CDs or DVDs. Just in case I might need them.Mark

C337 Autopilot problem
Thanks Peter. I pretty sure I've worked it out now. I just ignore what the ToolTip says.

C337 Autopilot problem
Thanks Bert. Just some more strange goings on - sometimes the light is ON, but the button ToolTip is displaying it as OFF (it's actually OFF). Other times it is Light OFF, but ToolTip says ON (it's actually ON). So the ToolTip is telling me the state of the mode, but the lights can sometimes be wrong and sometimes be right. I'm trusting ToolTip for now. Mark

C337 released!
I would like to thank you for that small fix too. Mark

C337 Autopilot problem
Every time I click on either the NAV or HDG, the ALT gets turned OFF.If I click on ALT, then it's NAV or HDG that get turned OFF. Anyone else having this problem? Or is it just me? It's just that it's frustrating when it does this, because sometimes my Sidewinder FF Joystick does not get centered when released and so the plane either climbs or dives (if ALT is turned off) or banks left or right (if NAV or HDG are turned off). Other than that, I love this aircraft (as I do all my Carenado aircraft). Great job Carenado! Keep up the great work. Mark

C337 released!
It now says (NOT FOR SALE YET) above the C337 in My Account at Carenado. LOL

C337 released!
You can add me to this list too.

Will Microsoft Flight ever be a success?
1. I think it will be a success.2. I will certainly buy it when it comes out.3. I hope it is not backwards compatible with FSX.4. The add-on developers, like PMDG, will only make it a lot better than it comes "out of the box".Mark

Favourite PMDG Aircraft
I love the MD-11. It took me a long time to decide to buy it, but I am so happy I did!Mark

Your worst experiences with a PMDG aircraft
Hi.Here's what happened to me using the PMDG J41:The first time was my first flight after completing the tutorial flight and my left engine caught fire during engine start. I do know that this one was caused by the props still being feathered at engine start! The next attempted flight was only slightly better. I decided to do a flight from Melbourne (YMML) to Adelaide (YPAD). I was holding short of the runway, I received ATC clearance and so I added power to taxi into position. Imagine my horror when my right engine caught fire! I couldn't believe that I didn't even get to my takeoff roll and my plane was out of commission! To make things worse. On my next five flights that I tried, ALL of them ended when taxiing into takeoff position and having an engine catch fire. I still don't know what I did wrong on these flights. This all meant I came oh so close to throwing the darn J41 out and never flying it again. But I persevered and now I fly it often without problems. It's a really great plane and I now enjoy flying it regularly!Mark

Landing gear failure
I believe I have solved the riddle to my problem. :( The clue is in the "ILS UNTUNABLE" notice in the FMC. On page 23 where it explains how to clear the VOR and NDB frequencies in the NAV RAD page, you then need to press the right VOR button on the MCP. Well I was also pressing the left VOR button. This seems to turn it OFF and that meant that the ILS frequency couldn't be tuned in and therefore the Autopilot wasn't able latch on to the ILS approach. It appears to me that this must somehow prevent the main gear from being lowered. If that IS case, I hope I don't ever have to do a manual landing!I'm guessing that further reading of the manuals (a big read) will lead to a more normal solution that I am not aware of at the moment.Thank you for the help. I'm off to try some flights to see how I go.Mark

Landing gear failure
@ Paul. Yes I did pull (click) on the landing gear lever (many times) and not the center gear button. The center gear was the only one to lower and give me a green light.Well it gets worse. :( I tried doing the tutorial flight again. And once again it happened at exactly the same place. I did notice that the FMS was showing an "ILS UNTUNABLE" message! I also got a "PATH ERROR"I chose to do a manual landing this time but I was not able to, because no mater what I did, I was unable to lower the nose and main gear. I only got the center gear lowered. To some degree I think I am at fault because I haven't read a lot of the manuals yet. I was just so eager to jump in and fly it. The tutorial was the only way to get up there fast.MarkEdit: I'm doing the flight again. If the same thing happens, I will take some screen shots to show what is happening.

Landing gear failure
Hi BryanI didn't get 4 green. I only got the one green light for the Center Gear, the Main Gear and Nose Gear were all red. They didn't even start to lower. Raising and lowering the gear only allowed the Center Gear to raise and lower. :(I have a few other add-on aircraft which require the advanced animations to be enabled, so it isn't that.

Landing gear failure
Hi.I bought the PMDG MD-11 for FSX today.I did a search of this forum but didn't find a problem like this. I was doing the Tutorial Flight for the first time. Everything went like clockwork until I got to the point where I had to lower the landing gear. When I clicked on the gear lever, the center gear deployed, but the main gear and nose gear didn't even move. Unfortunately, I didn't take a screen shot to show you, but it looked pretty funny with just the center gear lowered. Is there anything that could have caused this to happen? Like a hidden failure? I'm sure that there were nothing set for failures. I had to do a Go-Around, but after wallowing around the skies for a while the landing gear never budged. The center gear was happy to lower and raise. Weird! As this was my first flight in it, I did a lot of pausing and re-reading the instructions in the tutorial to get everything right, so I believe I didn't miss anything. I never completed the flight because of that.Any help would be appreciated.BTW. Great job on the MD-11. It's fantastic! It's also going to require learning how to program the FMS with it being so different from all the others I have.Mark

Qantas FP's to Antarctica
Don't worry about a reply. I figured out how to get it into a flight plan using Aerosoft's FlightSim Commander 8.5.I found out I could add in the waypoints, like 60S142E, by selecting user waypoints (Uwp). So I have done all the flight plans in this posts. Now all I'm waiting for is the arrival of my PMDG 747-400X in the mail. ThanksMark

Qantas FP's to Antarctica
Hi BarzI know these posts are a little old. But I was looking on the internet for Qantas flight plans to Antarctica so I could do a flight there in Flight Simulator X and found a link to this post.I would be happy to replicate any of these Qantas FP's but I am unsure as to how to get them to work. I'm sure that this is due to the fact that I don't understand the way you have written them as per the quote above.I understand that CWS is Cowes at Phillip Island and that CLARK is an intersection near Hobart. As well as HB being Hobart itself. It is best for me to say that it is the inputs like this -> 6930S15925E/M082F29 <- that have me confused. I don't know how to get them into the flight plan. I have tried to do this using the default FSX Flight Planner as well as trying AeroSoft FlightSim Commander 8.5. Unfortunately I'm not having any success. :( Would it be possible for you to explain how to get this information into a flight plan? :( Thanks.Mark
