  1. Good point Jim, I'll see what I can do. As I wrote already, it's not my system (should I say fortunately?), but I'm trying to help an old simmer buddy and his system seems not to be in a perfect shape. Actually, it's also a matter of time and efforts even if the guy doesn't live too far away.
  2. Thanks Jim, I'll try it on Monday again (I think I already tried this package), and I'll check with a different mouse... However, for me it's kinda strange seeing such problems with a more or less simple product.
  3. Jim, Even it the Mouse had been recognized as being from Logitech, it just worked with the Standard HUD driver of Microsoft for USB devices. I tried to find a specific driver on Logitech's Web-page but only got a configuration software for their equipment which did not change anything (actually there was no relevant option available). It would be nice if you could provide me with a link to the related utility program.
  4. Thanks Jim, sounds like a chance. As this guy is not too familiar with his computer I'll try next Monday whether I can find a driver setting for him. The only thing I wondered about was that [sPACE] + wheel worked but the rest not at all. Andy, he has no FSUIPC installed as far as I can recall it. Furthermore your description rather seems to effect the opposite. However, thanks for trying to help.
  5. Recently I tumbled over a wired problem of a mate's FSXA installation. The sim itself runs nice and smooth but you are not able to use the mouse wheel in order to turn knobs, the elevator trim etc. as it should be possible (and how it works in my own installation). There is no difference between standard aircraft or high sophisticated ones like PMDG's NGX. Surprisingly in Mouse View mode you can zoom in and out within the sim and there is no problem outside FSX using the wheel, too. However I looked into all settings and configuration data and did not find any setting that could restrict the mouse behaviour (it's a Logitech standard mouse, no fancy stuff at all). I would be glad if someone here around could give me a useful hint as I would like to help fixing the problem.
  6. [ctrl]+[return] = move seat backwards [ctrl]+[backspace] = move seat vorward [shift]+[return] = move seat up [shift]+[backspace]= move seat down [ctrl]+[shift]+[return] = move seat right [ctrl]+[shift]+[backspace]= move seat left [shift]+"arrow-keys" = turn head left/right/up/down [shift]+[space] = reset view to default I think that's it.
  7. I'm not quite sure what you are looking for, but moving your view works with [space] + pointing with your mouse. To reset the view just hit [ctrl] + [space]
  8. As being an ex-lifetime member as well I just reactivated my password but did not find anything in my product list. As far as I understand there is even no chance to get this list re-established probably except the NEXT-Map products I purchased separately. Consequently I opened a ticket and asked them to delete my account. It seems, I have to spend some some extra time in order to backup the whole sim as well (even if I did that already more than once) and not only the product spectrum. Regarding Justin's previous support I only can say that he lost his reputation in my personal view over the last years. It's quite a long time ago that he responded quite quickly on error reports. The last years nothing happened at all. However, the caravan moves on and FSG is history for me.
  9. A buddy of mine approached me recently with a strange problem. He is not able to print FSX made flightplans. Any other button related to this function works fine within FSX. Actually I dont have any clue where to look at as it seems to me that the sim simply calls an internal Windows function (just the printer menu). I tested printing of Missions, maps etc. without a problem. Select departure and destination airport (-->) Find route (-->) <first remark: the printer button above the map works> NavLog... (-->) Print <... and nothing happens>. FSX (Gold Edition, a German version) runs in a Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit environment (4 GByte memory). Actually I can't really compare here as my FSX is an English version on a German Win 7-64 version with more capable Hardware and for me this error does not exist. A new installation might be difficult as he runs PMDG's NGX and due to hardware upgrades his installation counter might (!) be down to Zero. However, on this machine is hardly other software installed at the moment as it is more or less reserved for FSX and there are no other add-on I could name (I think a scenery of Aerosoft, that's it). Does anbody has an idea where to look at or what to do?
  10. For me FTX Global is only interesting for areas being not covered by UTX. Even more as those Scenery Solution guys are following a new project that continues the way of dealing with autogen buildings following their vector roads similar to their Alaska scenery at some places. You may want to look here: http://scenerysolutions.tumblr.com/. I like the way how they are integrating into a quite variable FSX world and you can find their settings well integrated into any existent terrain.cfg. If you want you can even use their shoreline vectors or roads when modifying sceneries being overlayed by UTX. As far as I understand, ORBX completely replaces the terrain.cfg it finds by its own one which makes any kind of combination at least much more difficult. However, as I wrote above I'm thinking about the base package, but it will surely be placed below any UTX entry (I have all of them) in my scenery.cfg.
  11. Yeah, I got that information a couple of days ago from one of the involved guys. It seems something can only happen next year.
  12. Thanks Jim for the link - it works. However, asking WHOIS for the name server results in different IP (with no response).
  13. Same happens here. As if this site never existed.
  14. Nothing serious (I think), but… When flying online (just using FSHost) it was sometimes mystical why some of my mates where only able to recognize me as a Cessna instead of a B736 or so. I checked therefore the aircraft.cfg in order to identify the data that might be used to trigger the correct information and I found some stuff that really surprised me. According to Microsoft’s SDK each aircraft container should have a section [General] containing the main type related information: type, model and performance data. PMDG’s implementation looks perfectly okay for me: [General] atc_type=BOEING atc_model=B73n // (depending on the model n=6…9) <..snip..> The model identification is in accordance with ICAO and in compliance with the SDK, too (I think my buddies do neither have a B736, B737 nor a B739 in their hangar). Surprisingly I found the same data in each section of [fltsim.x] where it should not appear and partly with non ICAO compatibel content: atc_model=737-n00 // (depending on the model: n=6…9), not following ICAO type coding! atc_type=BOEING In the best case those data are ignored (I don't really know), however they should not be there. If ever a final update of PMDG's NGX series is planned I suggest to put it on the list in order to leave the redundancy away. Does anybody know about the way the aircraft.cfg is really computed? As far as I understand, first in the row are all the container common parts, including [General]and then the variants listed in the [fltsim.x] sections. I would be interested as well to know which data are really used by simconnect in order to decide which aircraft should show up. The SDK remained a secret for me in this case. By the way, following Microsoft’s suggestion another parameter should be used in a different way (even if I have doubts that any part of the application takes care of it). Instead of ui_typerole=737-600 it should be (suggested by MS for their default B738) ui_typerole=”Commercial Jetliner”. ----------- [OFF TOPIC] I tried to write this in a ticked (twice) and ended up with - nothing  . There was no visible response of PMDG's software after hitting "next" to finalise the input. And yes, cookies are enabled. EDIT: Sorry for double posting but I got a "server not available" error after my first try.
  15. There are only a few exceptions where I'm not using TrackIR (when fiddling with airport design etc.). In flying mode I won't miss it.
  16. I tried about 5 different mail addresses and I can say that I've had mail conversation with Justin in the past via different input channels. My remarks where not intended to blame him in any way. FSGenesis is a great product on Justin's support worked in most cases well. This time each try ended up with unknown mail addresses bouncing my mails back. And yes, I tried the support on his FSGenesis store page as well. The bookmarked support forum is closed and the new site "FSGenesis Network" has two links, both pointing to the store and one logon button that finally ends at a "World Press" login.
  17. Unfortunately it seems that FSGenesis' sceneries have to be considered as being as they are today without providing any support anymore. I'm Galaxy Member for quite a while now and I can see that my "lifetime membership" went down the drain. I even wasn't able to find out a single valid and working mail address of Justin. BTW, I tumbled over this tread while searching for more information about FSGenesis.
  18. Well, I can agree and disagree. Generally you are right in terms of accuracy. However, there are some other facts that have to be considered: Sunken or significanly elevated airports might be implemented faulty regarding the location and/or their runway direction. Almost none of the airports worldwide is really flat. As FS is only able to provide flattened runways you alway have to compromise at least in this respect. The more detailed a used mesh is the more such problemes are becoming evident. Specifically in remote and mountainous areas you might have even heavily sloped airfields (take Lukla in Tibet as an example). Conluding this any doubt might be allowed that an automatted tool can really deliver satisfying results for any of those cases. Of course, quite a lot of results might look sufficiently good, but... For most products I use (e.g. FSGenesis and UTX) I got some specific airport correction packages (those "more important" ones), patches mostly done with the really nice freeware tool "Airport Design Editor (ADE)" which I use myself to correct the rest I'm tumbling over while "bush flying". It became part of my hobby. My best friend in this case is "Google Earth" and "Plan G" (the old version 2.0.5. is based on Google Maps providing a useful contour map, version 3.x is working with open source maps). If I would consider to have such work "priced in" in such mesh products (BTW, what's about wrong coast lines within the sim?) I would likely give up using them. Let's calculate even only 10,000 misplaced or sloped airports to be handled manually and corrected...
  19. Thanks for sharing. However, I have to admit that I got really jealous.
  20. I'm using TrakIR with the whole series of B737 without any problems. Did you check the sensitivity of your movement settings? I've set mine to quite low values just taking care that I can observe the full 360° if necessary (speed=1.1, smooth=50). Good luck!
  21. Hi Lasse, No April's fool at all, here is just one link http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/aviation/9661829/Seatbelts-on-planes-are-pointless-says-Ryanair-boss.html. Regarding your rhetoric question and answer my own answer would clearly be the contrary 'NO'. I'll rather pay quite more than entering such an aircraft. Even now I do have some problems to trust such airlines regarding the level of their safety standards even if I do not want to say that they are not doing the required minimum, not to say anything about the comfort parameters...
  22. Lasse, you should wait till Ryanair is going to let their paying payload standing during the flight as their CEO Michael O’Leary was dreaming. This will beat all the figures you might find in Boeings' specs. :Praying: BTW: Great work, thanks!
  23. It's still in the files. Mine are based on "AIRAC Cycle 1209 (23/AUG/2012 - 19/SEP/2012) - Rev.1". Not really new (I don't fly online and like to have rather those airports included that I can find in the sim). Take a text editor and have a look into the files '"wpnavapt.txt" and "airports.dat" both in the folder " .\PMDG\NavData. The second one includes the ARP which seems to be shifted to NE for about 300m (in runway direction). wpnavapt.txt: ZHUHAI/SANAO ZGSD05 13124047 21.995556 113.364620110.1004700019 ZHUHAI/SANAO ZGSD23 13124227 22.021100 113.392014108.3022700018 airports.dat: ZGSD 22.008333 113.378333 wpnavapt.txt shows (# of digits): Name(24);ICAO(4);Rwy(3);lenght(5);heading(3);LAT(3.6);LON(4.6);ILS-frequ(3.2);ILS-LOC direction(3);Rwy starting elevation(5) If I want to find out the proper data as being implemented in my FSX I run a free tool of Pete Dowson (yes the guy who makes FSUIPC) called "MakeRunway" (http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/MakeRwys.zip). One of the results is a file named "runway.xml" where you can find all what you need to compile the data for each FS-airport. It can be read by using a text editor or Excel, too. EDIT: Please be aware that you should sort in any additional data sets by LAT and LON as elsewhere you might get unexpected effects.
  24. A brief remark: I just uploaded a brushed-up version to the AVSIM library. It includes not only all published taxiways but approach lighting, taxisigns (unfortunately the charts available for me where incomplete), moving jetways etc. Both ILS and the published COM frequencies are part of the package. However, I only used default buildings.
  25. Okay, I did it now. Please PM me in order to get the files. The following picture shows how it looks like now (even if some scenery features are not original FSX).
