  1. Thanks, obviously I did it almost right up to now. However, the airport looks somehow like a moving target as it still seems to be under construction. Due to my present work load I only can continue next weekend. I'll post a picture here but you shouldn’t expect a "product" as the result will be somehow a compromise. You may want to PM me your mail address in order to get the files. As I said, I'm no scenery designer and try to do the best usually with all those elevated, sunken and misplaced airports in MS's world. Sometimes there are lovely places or quite dangerous ones which are looking terrible because of the standard airport background being nothing but a too big rectangle in the landscape. However, to come back to the relationship with PMDG's NGX: As far as I can remember, the structure of the text files feeding the FMC is somewhere explained here in the forum. You'll need to work with a text editor in order to finally find the airport therein.
  2. Thiago, It's all freeware and as mentioned already above, I use: 1. Airport Design Editor (ADE) 2. Plan-G (old version 2, as it is based on Google Maps). You might find here a forum and probably a link to the old version. If you have the right charts you could do it of course without Google's pictures. However, you'll need to try and to learn. Specifiacally ADE is a really powerful tool. You could help me with an airport layout of ZGSD (taxiway designators etc.). I did find something but this is not sufficient for designing as it only shows quite roughly the layout. At the moment I'm placing default buildings according to the sat pictures and jetways as well. In order to do it right you should know about constructing those buildings yourself as there is no alikeness, just the dimensions (about).
  3. Oops, building alone the airport from sketch doesn't make it. I'm ready with its general layout but it hangs with one end over the ocean as the coastline of MS is definitely wrong. Moreover, if compared to satellite pictures the island has been transformed to a peninsula, obviously in order to gain land for the growing population of Zhuhai. As it is a real pain in the back to develop new coast lines (I'm used to build airports rather than water polygons and coast lines) I'm thinking on giving up. The results from yesterday’s work you may see here in the attached picture. The old coast line crossing the runway is still there and will be deleted in the next step. However, I think I’ll leave the rest as it is.
  4. All of those links are obviously pointing to the same source - which does not exist. I think I'll take ADE and Plan-G 2, building it from scretch.
  5. From my side I have to admit that I wasn't aware of my own settings even if I did not have such behaviour. I just checked it and found a "NEVER". However, I'm now wondering what setting would be the closest to reality (assuming that most of us likely are aware of their financial capabilities not allowing a servo driven throttle).
  6. Regarding Ezdoc I can't say anything. I'm using TrackIR5 just together with the standard views (where the 2D inbetween is a bit disturbing). However, if you search YouTube you should find some FS-examples where Ezdoc has been used (at least mentioned). In some of those examples I did not even notice Ezdoc's use. Coming back to your monitor question I tend to say that a projector should be the better solution...
  7. Besides the fuel supply I'm wondering whether the way the engines are mounted would allow such a maneuver. Static forces are quite different and I could imagine that the nacelles could fall towards the wings even if the whole assemby should be designed to withstand rough conditions in flight.
  8. My longest flight has been EDDT to KJFK (about 3700NM). I only can remember that I had to reduce the load and got in trouble nonetheless because of quite heavy head winds and I had to use my reserve fuel a bit. Fortunately it's a sim we are talking about and there was neither a paper trail nor the need for a 'carpet dance' in front of a chief pilot necessary as Capt. Dave would have pictured the resulting actions.
  9. Regarding Navigraph: You'll find plenty of airports listed in you FMC you would never consider even to fly in as even an emergency landing would give almost no chance to walk away from a B737. The database is a multi-purpose one and only adapted to PMDG’s file format as it is done for other add-on suppliers, without looking for the performance data of a certain aircraft type. Unfortunately I have no idea about real world criteria for airports being listed in several aircraft types, including the B737.
  10. Just in addition to my above posting, someone may simply want to check the principle availability of an airport in the FMC's database. Just search the airport.dat file for the airport code, here W99, and it will produce in this case KW99 as result, that's it. By the way, it does not guarantee that you can land there as some airports in PMDG's navdata would never see a B737 - or only once as the bird would likely not survive any attempt to land there. You should check before the runway lenght. Most of those short ones (in summary Excel told me that in Navigraph's AIRAC 1209 there are 2707 listed < 3000ft lenght) are belonging to airports having runways with sufficient conditions but in some cases even none exists. Example (randomly from wpnavapt.txt, it even does not exist in FSX, it seems): LAKE MURRAY STATE PARK K1F114 02500146 34.077558 -97.108336000.0014600817 Name ICAO Rwy Len Hdg Lat Lon ILS Hdg Alt I marked the ICAO and the rwy lenght in red. This scheme may help editing the file in order to extend it, the file airport.dat has to be amended, too, but it is much simpler. If adding something both should be ordered by LAT/LON. In this case ADEX might be you friend to add the field into FSX.
  11. It seems to me that you guys are flying a different bird. Well, taste is nothing to be discussed - for me both is ok, windows reflections and I never have had problems with the instruments either. Regarding the landing lights there had been some discussions here in the forum. Pilots flying the real bird where sure that PMDG realized it the right way (as far as I can recall it). I tried myself to use Redux lights and returned to the original state for many reasons. The experience was quite disappointing.
  12. If you do have the proper airport data you need to edit two files, 'wpnavapt.txt' and 'airports.dat' (also a text file). You may want to use the tool MakeRunways 4.612 of Peter Dowson. It is free and produces a XML-File containing all data you need to amend PMDG's data if necessary with those coming directly from FMX. However, first you have to decypher PMDG's file format which should be not too complex, I guess.
  13. No problem with this flight. I just did it with default MS fair weather and a heavy loaded 738. There might have been a moment where it could have been above the path (about 430 ft) while it tried to decellerate due to to the 10000ft speed limit, but I decided to support the dive by applying the speed breaks. The rest was business as usual, by the way without extending the ILS range even if I'm quite used to work with ADE.
  14. Probably it might be nice to have a nap before starting to taxi. EHAM requires a loooong way to go before you may find an empty parking position. Honestly, I can understand Michael as I usually continue flying from the airport I landed before. Mid-flight saving seems not to be the real idea behind this feature 'cause it takes quite while before the plane even reacs properly after restoring and this might lead to trouble... Regards, Axel
  15. I thought so, no harm ment. However, I never felt the need to have it done within the application. I'm using the Autosave function of FSUIPC which produces quite a lot of of files I likely will never use again. To get rid of them I even use a batch file for deleting. Regards, Axel
  16. Michael, It's quite simple. Browse to ".\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\PMDG\PMDG 737 NGX\PanelState" and delete the file you want to get rid of. There are three belonging together, *.fmc, *.sav and *.rte. Regards, Axel
  17. This is a warning that you're too fast. You can see right down on your screen cab that 340 kn is right overlapping the beginning of the red zone of your speed tape.
  18. Hello all, In order to dig out an other issue with FMC data I started today a data analysis via Excel and found out by chance that there is a tremendoes amount of runways (2626) that are shorter than 3000 ft being included in the originally delivered NGX navdata. I checked a few of those fields and found quite some with grass surfaces or even "gravel in poor condition" (runway lenght 950 ft, P2Z3, Eva Creek). Ok, I know that there is e.g. the PMDG Jetstream 4100 using the same data that might land in more remote areas but even this bird would not be satisfied with such fields. I can remember that it was possible to blend out all runway lengths shorter than 3600 ft. I think the B744 has such a feature. I'm missing such a function here (or I did not find it). My question: Are in reality those airports included in a FMC? I thought, but this might be wrong, that the content would be restricted to those fields where a specific type of airliner is able to land in case of emergency in one piece. If there is such a restriction I would be very much interested to learn more about this.
  19. Zach, thanks for the insistent suggestion. It has been the rudder trim, indeed. I am quite sure that I checked it but I did not realise that my settings are just triggering a single step even when holding the knob down. The result was just a very small incremental approach - not really visible at the beginning (and I did not take care for the indicator). However, there seems to be an issue nonetheless as I had created a new flight. Just after firing up the Sim it did not show a rudder deflection but then I got the same trouble after reloading it. Now, even this effect disappeared.
  20. Okay guys, Thank all of you for the answers. The ony thing I won't do is to re-install Windows. And yes, I unplugged both controllers and it did not help. And I surely will check rudder trim (when being home again) even if I'm quite sure I did. A new profile did not help as I described already in my original post. However, the discussion here gave me the idea to clean my fsx.cfg as I'm sure that the Saitek entries have been just added and did not replace the old ones of CH.
  21. Recently I replaced my aged CH gear by Saitek yoke and peddals and now I do have problems when loading a stored flight (any!) with my PMDG 737-xxx. Each time afer loading, the rudder is fully deflected to the right and does not react at all to any command. If I'm loading it by creating a new flight, there is no problem at all, the problem returns when I reload it the next time. Of course everything works fine when changing to any other aircraft. And yes, I did load the latest Saitek drivers. I furthermore tried it out with and without the programming software package, there is no change. Yoke and all other functions are working without problems. Probably I missed something in the forum. I did see many other Saitek related theads but nothing about this fault. Are there any ideas?
  22. Gosh, this is an incredible forum, thanks guys!
  23. I agree. As I found out you'll find airports with runway lenght >= 3000 ft. Unfortunately not all airports fulfilling this requirement are included, even not those having a fitting surface like concrete or asphalt (which might have to do with the maximum weight or the overall runway condition, but I'm not sure). However, as far as I recall the filter for the bigger birds was set to 3600 ft runway lenght (at least for PMDG).
  24. Richard, with the exception of some birds (like the NGX) I'm still using them.
