Good luck starting the APU at 38000 feet, mate.Frank Cooper

What the hell are you talkin bout? The loss of some of the load is transferred to learning to shed the load and learning a new system. It's not rocket science, mate, the fact is we are chasing reality at bargain basement prices. These developers have spent their hard earned knowledge and expertise, so go and support them or be a fence sitter for the rest of your life...Frank Cooper

I had an initial prblem with my microphone and took a few days to get my act together and try this product.I've bought FS2Crew before and it was good then, too, but I think this one's the best.Bryan, you and the team have done an exemplary job, in my view.I've just completed a flight from Sydney (YSSY) to Tamworth (YSTW) and was blown away.I especially loved the cup of tea bought in by the Stewardess and my lunch as well. It's very intuitive and I found myself, very compfortable with it after only a short time.I really feel like this is the icing on the cake. I love my NGX and fly her nearly every night, I been doing so since she came out last year, but somehow there was that isolation in the cabin.Well, now it's filled and I couldn't be happier.Thank you from the bottom of my simulated heart. I will be singing your praises for a long time,Regards,Frank Cooper

FS2Crew for NGX - just a few hours!
FBC57 replied to Ed van de Vijver's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
I bought it and have had troubles. Not with the product, just with my microphone.I bought the J41 version and was so impressed with it, I wouldn't fly without it. I also bought the iFly version, but only used it until the NGX arrived.Bryan has done a champion job, and I hope that he has a lot of success with this product. We are certainly very spoilt now with the 737 offerings.Frank CooperP.S. I also bought the Audio Ground School and I think that's a very good investment as well. -
I was going to buy them from the engravity site, but there were no clear links, so I went over to CPFlight itself. Must say, the service from Claudio was spot on.He's a good guy to deal with, Orest.Frank Cooper

Gee, I like Bryan's work, but 100,000 euro's is a bit out of my price range, altho I guess there are those that will just pay the price.........Just joking, guys!!!! :( :( :LMAO:Frank Cooper -
I just ordered the EL series FMC and twin EFIS's. My friend has bought them and I was tossing up whether to spend the extra 500 euro's for the PRO, but decided on the EL, as well. He's building a full 737-800 cockpit, like myself, so you don't just put anything in that.I earlier on bought the GoFlight stuff, but it's chalk and cheese. GoFlight, good to get you started, but too many problems, including their size (they are not to scale). The CPFlight gear has a great reputation in the simming industry as well and their after sales seems good too.Frank Cooper

Yes. They are good quality, great price and the EL model is a beautiful product.Forget the GoFlight stuff and go Pro.Frank Cooper

I fully concur, Ryan. It's a real work of art.I have been flying around Oz since the NGX came out, so don't get over to europe much. There was so much going on in that tutorial (fantastic insights into the changes available in the route section of the FMC!), that I was literally brain dead by the time I was approaching LOWI, so I shut it down and will return tonight to finish it off.It' was also nice to know that I've been doing most things right, from c&d to take-off. I guess the training from AofA paid off too.I am now anxiously awaiting Bryan Yorkes work and then the NGX will be complete.Thanx for the great work, Ryan and PMDG!Frank Cooper

I found three areas on that panel that have hot spots, but they do not do anything on my aircraft and I had it turning and burning with all electrics running.Frank Cooper

I need a little advice about sim building & the SDK
FBC57 replied to NedH's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
I would suggest you have a look at some dedicated Cockpit builder forums. All of the answers to your questions are there.I hope that I am allowed to do this, here are a few that I have gleaned an enormous amount of info from:www.cockpitbuilders.comwww.mycockpit.orghttp://forum.avsim.net/forum/142-the-home-cockpit-support-forum/I'm sure there are a lot more, but this should get you started. Hope this helps,Frank Cooper -
737NGX 'short' checklist (from C&Dd to C&D). Please check!
FBC57 replied to a topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
My pleasure, mate. Nice to work something so simple, out together. And if you wanna edit the list, just open it in Word, alter and save back out. The XML stuff will aoto-update for you. It's really handy to have now, and something I've been looking for, for some time. When Bryan Yorke releases the FS2Crew for NGX, I'll be making a similar kneeboard list for the NGX. It's also very handy!Regards,Frank Cooper -

It's all done, Jeroen.I've uploaded it (after I read your post saying you don't mind) and here's the link:http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/files/file/2293-ngx-check/If you wanna upload it to Avsim, that's fine with me, too.I did alter it a little by tabling all of the Checklists (hope you don't mind). It looks fine on my NGX, but could probably go throo a revision or two for refinement purposes later on.Regards,Frank Cooper -

Hey Jeroen,Have a look at this:This is your Checklist, turned into an XML file and used as the NGX checklist within FSX.I'ts an idea that Nyxx had a while back for the J41 and I helped him develop it.It allows you to go through the checklist within FSX, so no printing and such. It's easy to install. I'm still working on it at the moment, but it shouldn't take long to finish off and zip.If you'd like to have it and upload it for use, I'd have no problem with that. I wouldn't do it myself, because it's not my work.Anyway, let me know what you think, if you want it, it's yours,Frank Cooper -

Spelling:Legenda= LegendDEP APP= DEP/APP (as per the FMC Display)These are the only two minor discrepancies I found. It is an excellent document and one that I will use, so thank you for your patience in making it.If you would permit me to make a small suggestion, I would have found it easier to read had the Checklists been boxed (in tables). This is just my observation and personal choice. others may like it like it is.Anyway, great job, mate,Frank -
Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the new V2 model of the OpenCockpits MCP is only 478 dollars and you are asking 495 for the old one.You might just catch someone on ebay who doesn't know the prices, but I'd be pretty upset if I bought it, to find out that a new one was cheaper.Frank Cooper

Hey Rob,Just sent you a PM,Frank Cooper

As far as your limited list goes, you have two limited entry products with a professional one (opencockpits). The Opencockpits is used extensively in the cockpit building community, so if you want a good solid unit with top support, that's your top pick from those three.Of course, there are a few more on the same level, too, and you will probably find that as soon as the SDK is officially released that most of the 'smart' manufacturers will modify their drivers to include the NGX.In fact, some professional cockpit software (Sim Avionics) already support many manufacturers' MCP's and EFIS's, whilst utilising the PMDG NGX interface (panel states without the logic), so it can be done.Frank Cooper

I think what is really sad is the attitudes of some of the simmers (particularly on this forum). Here are a group of very talented guys, producing cutting edge CBT on the PMDG NGX (which happens to be the BEST Flight sim aircraft in existence) at a very reasonable price (actually, it's extremely cheap, if people really had an idea about some of the other CBT out there.) and being compared to the unprofessional productions on youtube. It not only irks me that this comparison goes on, but this ever growing arrogance that the uninformed have the driving power because of their ability to pass judgement on a product and that they "speak with their wallets".I am not advocating for one minute, that bad products shouldn't be weeded out of our life, but having used this product since day 1, IMHO, this is a great value for dollar service.I guess it's human nature to knock somebody's efforts (and it's so easy on a faceless forum) and I 'd say the tall poppy syndrome is also tossed in there, but it's also those same people who are at the front of the line complaining when the developers all close up shop. So, after that rant, did I buy the NGX, you bet your bottom dollar! Did I buy the best CBT training at a very cheap price from AOA, you bet your bottom dollar!Frank Cooper

Some thoughts after a commercial 737 sim session
FBC57 replied to YMMB's topic in PMDG 737NGX | 737NGXu
I can certainly sympathise with you, Albert.About a year and a half ago, my family did the same and sent me off to Archerfield for a "Real Sim Experience".Nick Kranenberg runs the 737 Simulator out there and luckily for me, he had the FTX software running on the sim.I was blown away, and from that day forward, I've had the dream to create something close to that in my little cramped computer room in our house. It's been a hideously expensive coupla years and I've really only just got a few bits and pieces together, but I can already see the potential and feel the same experience that I found in the sim. It's not everybody's dream and it certainly needs a lot of cash and very patient family members, but if you can do it, go ahead. The cockpit builders worldwide are so very helpful and always willing to spread the word and the tech gets better every day, too (and thankfully, in some circumstances, cheaper).Good luck with your new found obsession, mate.Frank -
hey Jack,I bought one of these 767 throttle quadrants from VR last year. It's a good solid unit, very professionally made and they are really nice people to deal with.Unfortunately for them, their website needs a good overhaul as the products are very poorly represented.I've converted mine to a 737 quadrant via a full redesign including new reversing handles, new 737 style buttons and knobs and a set of functional trim wheels mounted on either side of the quadrant. It's coming up a real treat, but after the dollars I've spent, i probably should have bought a revolution quadrant and been done with it.Frank Cooper
