Australian Simulation Glasair III tranparency issue
I am trying. I am not very good with Photoshop so i am looking things up on-line as I go.Here is where I have problems:**********Launch DXTBmpOpen the first texture fileEdit the Alpha Channel in your default editor (mine is Photoshop)Now you should have an open image document with a colored square in the middle, probably white or grey *******This is my issue. The document that opens in photoshop is completely white. It is nothing like he suggests. The instructions were very vague to begin with so I am trying different ways to open the document in the hope that it will appear as mentioned. I have tried to use the command straight from DXTBmp that allows you to open the Alpha in your editor of choice, and this is the file that shows up blank. I have also tried to save the save the file as another file type that photoshop could open it (it cannot open DDS textures directly.)Anyway, I really appreciate your help and your checking back with me. I will keep trying different things and maybe I can sort it out. This forum is the best. Also, FS Pilot Shop offered me a refund credit to my account, which speaks highly of them to do that. If I can get it to actually work I will return the money back again, because all I want is to fly the plane. Thanks again and I will report back.Marc

ORBX's CRM
ORBX did Australia first, and it is absolutely stunning, but just like most things in life the more you do something the better you get.I think the teams that ORBX employs to make this scenery get better with every release - they learn more "tricks of the trade" and discover new techniques - and many of them say as much quite often on the ORBX forums.

Australian Simulation Glasair III tranparency issue
Hi Everyone,I recently purchased the Australian Simulation Glasair III for FSX only to realize I could not see out of the cockpit windows. After spending the last few hours doing research I have discovered that the developer is no longer in business. The issue is linked to SP2 or Acceleration (a fact not mentioned when I purchased). Prior to closing down the developer had issued a patch to correct the problems. That patch, named "asg3_fsx_sp2.zip", is nowhere to be found.Anyone know where it might be available??I would even be willing to provide proof of purchase to anyone who could share the patch with me, unless of course this violates a rule. I assume since the developer is not in business they would not mind for legit customers - at least one would hope so anyway.Any help at all would be truly appreciated. I cannot afford to purchase add-ons very often (times are tough with four kids to feed :) so I hate to think I just wasted money. Thanks,Marc

ORBX's CRM
CRM is phenomenal. I think it even tops PNW in many aspects. The textures seem extremely sharp, even more so than other ORBX.

Grid Pattern in Water at Night
I have this as well. I will try to post a pic later.I don't know if it will help much, but I only use REX for my wave animation. My water colors come from FEX.

FPS help needed with Freeware Aircraft
I recently became interested in the Aero Commander aircraft after buying FCS Pole to Pole. I came across an unbelievable freeware package called the "Aero Commander series for FSX" by Milton Shupe at com-central.netIt was originally for FS2004 and the package was upgraded for FSX. However, I am experiencing some minor FPS issues and I was hoping someone could shed some light on this for me. First, a few basics: I run FSX with the frames locked at 30 (with the internal limiter). I fly mainly on ORBX sceneries. I recently tried this aircraft at CYYJ and my frames dropped to about 25. To set a benchmark, I loaded both the default King Air 350 and the Aerosoft Twin Otter and for both my Frames stay pegged at 30. Switch to the Aero Commander and it drops back to 25.Here is what I have done so far:Since the package was old (I have no idea if this helped or not) I converted all of the BMP textures to DDS.I regularly defrag, but just to check I used Ultimate Defrag (highly recommended by the way) and placed all of the files and folders on the outer edge of my 10000 rpm velocoraptor HD.There appears to be nothing extreme about the panel. It uses default gauges and is in fact rather plain and not very crisp. After all of this my frames improved but only to 28. I know it is only two frames but you know how us FSX freaks are about our FPS. :)Therefore, my question is this - Is it most likely something like too many polygons on the model (It is not a real intricate aircraft to begin with), or is it possible that AIR file specs or maybe even the aircraft cfg can be so detailed as to cause FPS loss?? Both seem unlikely to me on a freeware aircraft but I am far from an expert. Any ideas??Thanks in advanceMarc

ADD ONNs
Wow bro, considering their add-ons are widely considered among the best in the business.that is a wild statement to make.I am willing to bet the issue is with your setup, not with the scenery. Have you even tried to get support on their forum?

IRIS Simulations = Bad Customer Service
I agree. I remember reading of similar issues on another aircraft and DX10 preview was to blame. Many people tend to forget about this, and there are a bunch of FSX aircraft not DX10 compatible.

FSX in Widescreen....?
They look stretched to me as well. At the very least they are certainly not round.

Piston Engines will not start
I had this happen as well. Load up the default trike, start the engine (cntr-e), save the flight AND MAKE IT THE DEFAULT FLIGHT.That worked for me.Also, have you tried deleting your FSX cfg and let it build a new one. This should also correct the issue.

Automated Tweaking and Tuning tool for FSX
Hi Bojote,I just wanted to say thank you very much for the automated tweaking tool. I, for one, will gladly donate to at least help offset website costs and such (and also to make the haters more irate). Just a quick question - I try to stay current with the latest tweaks but it seems to change quite often. As far as you updating the tool itself, is it worth my while to revisit the tool every month or so and see if it changes anything new? Thank you again my friend. Your wisdom is helping me squeeze every inch I can out of my machine.Jack

bad fps
You will not find it there. You need to add it. Start a new line at the bottom with this:[bUFFERPOOLS]Then, add a second line directly under that which says:UsePools=0So it will look like this:[bUFFERPOOLS]UsePools=0If that causes instability you can add this instead (but erase UsePools=0 if you do):[bUFFERPOOLS]Poolsize=70000000RejectThreshold=131072You do NOT need to put "UsePools=1" if you choose to add option 2. The only thing that does is tell the sim to use bufferpools, which it already does by default.

News from ORBX/FTX for 2011
Yes they do. I rarely fly anywhere else besides FTX covered areas. It's sort of funny how you get used to the scenery being very good. I will go weeks flying only around PNW, then I'll stumble across a screenshot from vanilla FSX and think "is that FS9"??FTX is simply the best.

bad fps
Wims is absolutely correct. Use the second bufferpools tweak if the first causes instability. Also, as mentioned already the affinity mask tweak has helped on my CPU:[JOBSCHEDULER]AffinityMask=14Try them all. Most will help.

bad fps
Most of your problem lies with your CPU. Mine is very similar to yours, and the AMD CPU's do not deliver anywhere near the performance of the Intel I7's and the like.FSX is extremely CPU dependent. You absolutely cannot run with maxed sliders as your computer cannot handle it. I know this from experience.
