  1. Hi all, I was messing with my F27 today doing a few circuits and trying to work out why the aircraft seems to accelerate as I put the throttles to idle on landing and was a nightmare to taxi..............I have seen similar comments here and elsewhere about the same thing happening to others. Here is what I found. I use FSUIPC and have a profile for each different aircraft in my hanger, like many of us probably do. Anyway I was checking through the axis allocations and the axis calibration pages and noticed that there were button allocations for reverse thrust options, "Decrease and Increase Throttle when pressed". Now I know the F27 has no reverse thrust, but somehow having copied the profile from another turboprop aircraft, reverse thrust buttons got in there. So I deleted the allocation and what do you know a beautifully controllable F27. It now stops lovely on the runway and is a pleasure to taxi, all because of a few button allocations which I wasn't actually using and didn't realise had become allocated. So I am thinking before we criticise the F27 and call out loudly demanding a fix for this and that, maybe we should check thoroughly that it isn't us that is causing the issue ourselves. I now have a very wonderful F27 which is a pleasure to fly by hand. That's all.
  2. Hi, Just an update, I have sorted out the issue I was having. All other aircraft had been updated to Airac-1505 except my PMDG ones, so I manually downloaded the PMDG Airac files from Navigraph instead of using the FMS Data Manager, and all is now reading Airac-1505.
  3. Hi all, I think the two posts about Navigraph NAV data are slightly different. The original post said "I get an out of date message on the FMC" to which you replied how to stop the message happening using old Navigraph Nav data. This later post says "I have the latest data but the FMC still shows the old data package date." which is slightly different. I too have this issue, I bought a new Nav Data package yesterday. My Navigraph installer shows PMDG Nav Data as installed in the FSX/PMDG file but the FMC in the 737 I am flying today still shows a date of sometime in 2014. Does anyone else have the same issue and know why it happens? Thanks for any help.
  4. What I was getting at is that all the aircraft with functioning FMC's whether fully functioning or partly functioning are similar to fly in my view. You program the FMC and click Vnav, Lnav and off you go. Sometimes it is nice to get back to grass roots and fly VOR to VOR to get from A to B. While I don't doubt that Carenado have put in a tremendous amount of work to get their FMC's working, if all their Biz Jets contain the same Avionics package, then it doesn't really matter which one you buy the flying experience is going to be about the same. For this reason I have gone back to exploring many of the older generation of airliners, like the CS Tristar, the 707 and 727 and the LearJet already mentioned. The justflight F27 flies beautifully with no FMC, and the sense of achievement is greater on arrival. Oh don't get me wrong, I have the 737, 777 and MD11, but haven't taken them up in a while now, and yes I can program the FMC correctly before you all start commenting, But then we all want different things out of our simming so there is room for all. It truely is amazing that we really have so much choice in my view.
  5. Have you looked at the Lionheart Creations L24b. I have it and it works very nicely. OK it's old school flying, but it does have a realistic autopilot and fuel system, so they say, but never having flown one in real life what do I know! It's a bit quirky but good fun. Like the OP I wanted a nice Biz Jet and wasn't too impressed with the Carenado offering. They seem to be making aircraft that are nice to look at, but at the same time all have the same avionics inside. Cheaper to develop a standard panel and import it into different airframe's I would think, just my opinion and I may be wrong. There are some quite good tutorial video's on Youtube regarding the Lionheart Learjet. Maybe worth watching those before purchasing your Biz Jet. At least you will see what it fly's like.
  6. Hi all, As far as I am aware, I have two monitors which are different sizes and have no issues with FSX. If I use FSX in windowed mode on one monitor then the other is used for EFB or Gplan which works great. However if I am just buzzing around my local airfield and decide to use full screen then I do indeed get a black screen on monitor two. What I do is open up a new view say, spot view, and drag that to the second monitor and then resize the view to fill the screen. Works a charm. It is worth mentioning that you have to set up the size of both monitors in the FSX settings page. I was interested in the comment about hiding the windows task bar and getting an increase in performance. I might have to look into that one myself! Hope that helps any.
  7. I agree with Avantime above. We waited so many years with no decent Tristar in our sim and then suddenly we get two quite different products but of two different versions of the Tristar almost at the same time, and kinda get spoiled for choice, then we forget how lucky we are. I think both products do have their place in our sims but for different reasons, and we should be grateful we actually have a choice to make. For what effectively was a small production run of aircraft I think only 250 of all versions it is amazing the Tristar has such a large following. I have to boast here as the last remaining flyable ones in the world except the NASA one, ie the last six RAF Tristar's are parked at an airfield just two miles from me and I see them everyday going to work, ah big sigh, that one day someone might take pity and buy them all and keep them flying just a bit longer.
  8. Hi tandy, I have both version's of the Tristar that your looking at, and the above comments about the CaptainSim version are quite correct. CaptainSim got quite a beating over some of their products recently but the Tristar was a great product from the outset I found. The JustFlight Tristar depends on which one your looking at, they still sell the Tristar and the Tristar Pro as two separate products. The basic one is more akin to one of their F-flight basic range and didn't fly very well in my opinion, it kept diving in a turn etc. You do get a number of liveries which come with a simplified INS and then you get the same models again with a simplified FMC. Alot of the systems weren't modelled very well if at all and so justFlight to their credit went back and redid the Tristar as the Pro version. The Pro version is a big improvement over the basic one in my view. There is a much better INS system and the FMC is alot better and has more functionality. The systems are modelled in greater depth too, although some things you have to access through a 2d pop up menu, which I don't like much but others do. It does fly very well, but alot of folks have struggled with landing it as it suddenly goes nose up on approach if your speed drops. JustFlight have said that it is modeled closely to real life numbers and indeed if you follow the numbers exactly it does indeed land beautifully, so maybe that is us simmers not being as good as we thought. My biggest criticism, is with the cockpit night lighting which I experienced for the first time last night and isn't very good, alot of the dials are too dark and none of the lighting appears until the sim is virtually black outside the window.....I have asked on their forum for any info on sorting this out. The two Tristar's are different though, the CaptainSim one is a Tristar-1 i think, which has a longer fuselage and shorter wings, less powerful engines and shorter range. There are quite a few free repaints for this version in the library here including an RAF C1, version if you want a military one, although the RAF version was a Tristar-500 in real life. The JustFlight version is a Tristar-500, this had longer range, with a shorter fuselage and a longer wing, more powerful engines. The JustFlight version also includes an RAF refuelling tanker with refuelling drogues which you can deploy from the VC in flight, although no aircraft come to take fuel. So if you want an RAF version the Justflight one is technically more accurate than the CaptainSim version. There aren't any repaints of this one, that I have found anywhere, although JustFlight do a paint kit but I think it is a bit tricky to do and most folks seem to have shied away from it, JustFlight do some livery packs though if you want more liveries. Personally I think they are both good in slightly different ways although I would edge towards the CaptainSim version myself, it seems more complete and bug free, has tons of additional animations if you like that kind of thing. It flies nicely in freeflight and has better cockpit lighting which is a let down for me with the JustFlight version. If you have any more questions then I will try and help answer them as best I can. I hope you enjoy flying whichever version of the Tristar you decide on in FSX. It really was a way before it's time aircraft that sadly never got to see it's full potential in my view.
  9. Hi all, Planning to buy this afternoon, but just a comment on the above question of ground friction. I know people have commented on needing alot of power to get some of the aircraft in FSX to move on the ground, and I have found this myself in the past, but I have just watched a real world video on Youtube about the last F27 flying in Australia. Now if you watch at about 4.23 into the video the F27 powers up to taxi away and it seems to me that it does indeed require alot of power to get the initial roll going. You then notice the pilot immediately power down before the aircraft gets away from him/her. Maybe just maybe we are expecting things to roll away from the stand too easily, and maybe Justflight have indeed got it right this time. Anyway off to buy right now. Here is the link,
  10. Hi all, Nice pictures of the DC6 that PMDG are supposed to be basing their DC6 on. I wonder if we will ever see the PMDG DC6 in FSX. It seems that they have gone off at tangents making products compatible with P3D, FSXsteam edition and their X plane projects. I do understand that from a commercial basis this makes sense while the market is so keen for P3D and Steam edition addon's. The forum has gone very quiet recently on anything to do with their FSX products, the 747v2 and DC6 seem to have fallen by the wayside in the rush to make money from the emergence of P3D and steam fsx.
  11. Hi Jim, Thanks for your reply. I downloaded the Avsim CTD guide last night and followed some of the advice in there, very useful, thanks. I also put back into the FSX folder the old version of the UIAutomationCore. I had saved it just in case when I reinstalled FSX with the new hard drive. It used to work for me alot better than the v18000 one. I also carried out the VAS counter tweaks for FSUIPC as suggested in the guide and was getting 1700000 ish figures. I have only done one 90 minute flight since posting my comments yesterday in the A2A C182 but touch wood no Fatal Error so far! Another few flights will be needed yet before I will be happy. Thanks again for your helpful comments Jim.
  12. Hi all, I recently installed FSX Acceleration on a separate hard drive and all seemed well no problems. This morning however I too had a "Fatal Error" occurrence, something I never used to see before. I was in the PMDG 747 and clicked the fuel tag in the PMDG tags along the screen top and poof! Is it possible that some update somewhere could cause things to get reset somehow. Just before my Fatal Error I ran my disc cleaner and registary fixer, something I have done many times with no problem and the registry fixer found errors with all 8000+ PMDG sid/star files, weird I thought, so that is what made me run up the PMDG747 and see what happened. Maybe I should have run a different aircraft too, just to see! Then tonight I see a post on here asking just the same question! Unfortunately I didn't get any system details to give you guys any information, sorry about that.
  13. Hi Driver170, Sorry I didn't get back with my TrackIR settings, but it sounds like you may have found the answer to your problem. Maybe the Malware program has been updated and detect's new things it didn't before.......just a thought. Also worth making sure everything runs as "admin" but I am sure you know that already. My TrackIR settings, I have never made any note of, I just play around with it until I get something that enables me to see all round the cockpit. I guess I set it to be reasonably slow moving in the centre of the view, and then as I move out to the edges of the cockpit, were your not likely to be pressing button's etc I speed up the rotation so I don't have to turn my head so far. Just trial and error I guess, but good fun playing around and seeing what you get. Let me know if you want more info and I will see if I can find something next time I am back on my PC.
  14. Hi Vernon, I have TrackIR and whilst I don't have your exact problem I did have a problem once a while back with reflections being picked up by the ProClip. I traced it back to reflections on the back wall of the room from a picture frame, whilst the result was very similar to what your experiencing. So it might be worth checking reflections in the room, maybe a new picture recently hung somewhere.............You could try darkening the room and seeing if that cures your issue first. Just thinking aloud, hope those idea's help.
  15. FSUIPC is the best addon for controlling FSX in my opinion. One tip if you want one, is to name your controllers in FSUIPC, it's explained in the manual how to do it. Then whenever you unplug stuff the program remembers all your button allocations on your Yoke, Throttles and pedals etc. Set up a profile for each aircraft in your hanger, then your free to set up buttons and throttle allocations to your hearts content. Globally over all aircraft or just for that profile. It really is that flexible.
  16. Hi all, Not sure if my comments are any good for the original question here. Over the last few years I have bought the PMDG 737, then the 777, the Quality Wings, 146 and others, I use the Aivlasoft EFB and Simbrief too, but noticed that many of these addon's use the latest Airac cycle at the time they originally were released. So over the years you end up with addons using different cycles. I don't fly online, so reading the above posts you would think there is no point installing any Navigraph updates. I do however think there is a thought here that it is worth mentioning, and so say once a year all my addon aircraft are updated so they all using the same set of Navigation Data from Navigraph. I currently use cycle 1408 as that was the last addon which came with a cycle installed, so I updated everything else to the same cycle. Not sure if it's worth doing or not, I just like to update the sim so everything is running with the same settings. Hope this helps any.
  17. Hi all, Yep it's frustrating when you see a developer announce a product so far in advance from release. Although as I understand it, Quality Wings consists of just a few guys doing this as well as running normal family lives and jobs too. So because of that, I will give them as much slack as they ask for. Push a small group like this too far and you might never see the finished thing if they give up through the pressure of us all begging for a release date. Anyway whenever the 787 comes out I am sure your going to buy it and love it all the more for the wait, just like we did with their 146 and 757 in the past.
  18. Hi all, Sounds like a really great show! Unfortunately for me, I was working this year a missed the show, although I have attended the last two shows at Cosford and have to say it has always been a great event. Who would have thought, when you see everyone there, that so many folks were interested in the same thing! The venue is amazing too, right in the middle of the air museum, surrounded by the real thing in all directions. I would have loved to have seen the Quality Wings presentation, I have both their 757 and 146 packages and love flying both, although the 146 just has the edge on the 757, but then the latter is an older add on. Who knows maybe I will find a video on YouTube of the presentation one day, lol. Glad you had a great day.
  19. Hi all, Well my Carenado C208 door manager now works as installed. So it would appear that Jim's door manager fixes the door manager for people using fsx deluxe with sp2 instead of Acceleration. So there must be some coding differences in fsx between sp2 and acceleration, minor ones but they are there all the same.
  20. Hi Jim and others. If you remember a while back, somewhere in this thread, I too had an issue with the door manager on both the Carenado C208 and Cera sim Bell 222 in fsx using sp2. Your door manager fixes both worked flawlessly. However the other day I had cause to install a new hard drive on my PC and at the same time I bought a new copy of fsx+ Acceleration instead of using sp2. I had also Emailed a guy called Mike at Flight Replica's asking why their new DH 114 Heron is specified as fsx+acceleration when it is basically a simple aircraft with no fancy features. I asked what wouldn't work if I used it in fsx with sp2 instead. His reply was interesting in that he said there are still some coding differences between sp2 and acceleration and if an aircraft was developed in fsx+acceleration there there could be issues, only minor ones, if that aircraft was then used in sp2 and visa versa. Interesting I thought. Now just this morning I re-installed my Cera-sim Bell 222 and low and behold I now have a working door manager without your fix. I still have to re-install the C208 as yet but I have a feeling the door manager on that will also work without the fix too. Just wondering whilst helping all our fellow sim pilots out if anyone has looked at whether these door manager issues are occurring with folks who use fsx+sp2 only. Has anybody got anything to add, I would be interested, and I will report back when the C208 is installed.
  21. Hi all, Thanks for the replies. charliearon, yes your quite right I did indeed mean a 1Tb hard drive, lol, I can't believe I typed 1Gb looking back. Bert I didn't realise it would indeed be that easy to move fsx from one drive to another. So it sounds like I don't have to reinstall everything from scratch, great news!
  22. Hi all, My PC has been running fsx deluxe version very well for the last five years, it's stable and never plays up, it's great. However my 500Gb hard drive is filling up with all of the various addon's we all collect over time, I am actually surprised it has lasted this long. Everything has been installed directly on the "C" drive and all the usual tweaks to the cfg files done, HIGHMEMFIX, TEXTURE MAX etc. So I have decided to get a new 1Gb hard drive installed to run along side the old one, the new one just being for fsx, and at the same time I have bought fsx acceleration, and will start off with a new fresh install, but I have a few queries first, which I will list below. * Do I need to uninstall my old fsx deluxe from the old hard drive completely first before starting the new install with fsx acceleration? Even though it is on a different drive. * Do I also need to uninstall all add on aircraft and scenery as well? If so, I assume I need to install all addon's from the ZIP files I originally downloaded at the time of purchase. I figure it isn't possible to just click and drag files to their new home! Does this apply to scenery files, as you can in effect be kept anywhere on your hard drive, so possibly they don't follow the same rules as aircraft files and could be dragged to a new home without causing issues. I am not 100% sure! * Are there any other trip ups I might encounter while I install everything on my new drive. I have UTX, GEX, Active Sky and REX textures also FSUIPC which could have things saved elsewhere on the old drive and cause issues with the new one if files are not in the correct places. * Can anyone suggest any further reading on any of the above before I start? Well that is all I can think of for now, I appreciate any comments from anyone out there, but please not things like "Switch to P3D" or "Xplane is better" I am quite happy with fsx and have too many addons to justify binning them to have the latest flight sim on my PC. So I will stay with fsx thanks.
  23. Hi B247NG, I will have a look at the link to the ILS inspector, thanks.
  24. Thanks DJ, I have posted a comment on Navigraph forum, it dawned on me that if my problem was fsx not Navigraph, then perhaps I should be asking my question here instead of on their forum. Anyway thanks for the comments.
