  1. I think it is a 772LR, but in my sim it flies like a normal 200... I never even get close to that 17000 km range
  2. I've done the mission already, but I think it's quite useful to find the right approach speeds etc for different aircraft, if you only have to fly the approach instead of a full circuit
  3. Thanks, that might in fact solve it. Sorry for being so stupid... :(
  4. Hey,is there any chance to use different aircraft for the default FSX missions? The normal way via the menu is disabled, but I think it would be fun to try and do some of the missions in different aircraft. Thanks,Doc
  5. I don't get it - Now, the fourth time I'm trying to install FSX it worked. It only got D1Feat~7.cab to be wrong, I clicked "repeat" and it copied without problems. Possibly something to do with a DVD drive problem?Seems to have resolved itself - strangely.Doc
  6. Every time that I try to install it now it won't even start installing but instead gives me1607: InstallShield Scripting Runtime can't be installedIn German: 1607: InstallShield Scripting Runtime kann nicht installiert werden
  7. Hey,I have just killed my Vista to go down to XP again (whether this was clever is debatable), and after having set everything up I'm now installing FSX. However, it seems to have different files being damaged. These are not consistent but change, i.e. in the first time I tried it was a file on DVD 2, now there was one in DVD 1 and it stopped the setup.Could this be because of a faulty hard drive?!? Or would this be a problem with the DVDs?Thanks,Doc
  8. I have WOAI and using AI Flightplanner I'm probably just going to change all the airport codes from VHHH to VHHX - Lots of work, but maybe it'll work. Near 3:30It seems like the AI aircraft actually follow the IGS 13.Problem solved!
  9. It's not a question of AI traffic existing, you have to compile it yourself (I'm just going to try and "deactivate" Chek Lap Kok by changing all the designators), but rather of whether they do actually follow the turn and so on. If they did - I'd be impressed, that's why I'm asking.
  10. Do the AI aircraft in FlyTampa's Kai Tak also follow the IGS 13 or do they fly through the mountain?Doc
  11. If I then bought the i5 2500, the GTX 460 (£150 as well) looks fine, which motherboard should I buy? I do not know a lot of motherboards, maybe you could advise me which ones would make sense?
  12. Good morning,I've looked at improving my hardware a bit as my FSX with my current set up is running very slow (see signature).First of all I was looking at the CPU and I was thinking that maybe an overclocked E8500 or E8600 would be a nice solution. However, also the i7s seem to work well with FSX and I was specifically looking at the i7 930, overclocked as well - however, I would only use air cooling.Of course the quad cores might be better, but is a price tag of £250 really worth it? This means I would not be able to invest as much into a graphics card and my HD4650 really needs to retire.Which one would you take if you also had to buy a graphics card and wanted to stay under £400?Thanks in advance,Doc
  13. I'm very sorry for my ignorance about this topic but I read reviews on Avsim and other websites with people that have 3GHz or slightly more and they seem to be getting considerably more FPS. I believe that considering this is it is very much appropriate to be asking myself whether maybe ANOTHER components limits my FPS. This is also because before I overclocked my CPU I got the same amount of FPS.Thank you!
  14. To be honest I believe that the E-Jets would suit you best. However the PMDG 737NGX is of course also an excellent aircraft, but you'd have to wait until they finished developing it, also expect it to be priced quite expensive as PMDG is known to be. I'm not sure about the Ariane 737, maybe read through a few reviews of that if you can't wait. I'd buy the E-Jet though.
  15. Which do you think is the bottleneck on my system cos I've been thinking about upgrading a few parts to it. I've installed FSX on a separate hard drive but I'm running Vista 32 bit and 4GB of memory. I also think that maybe the ATI 4650HD is not that great?
  16. I'm thinking about buying an add-on like REX and I was wondering how much it impacts FPS. I'm not running a very fast system (E4400 2GHz @ 3 GHz, ATI 4650HD) and I was wondering whether this did in fact make sense - because I'm not a fan of slideshows and on airports like LHR I do already reach 10 FPS with 50% AI Traffic. Thanks and maybe you know some alternatives without a lot of FPS impact?Doc
  17. I have been using RC4 for quite some time now, but with WOAI's AI traffic. For this I have never had any problems with any aircraft coming to close to mine and I would say that in terms of ATC it is one of the best add-ons around.
  18. I myself own the A320 by Wilco and I have to say that it is a very nice plane to fly if you are not yet ready for the "I sit there two hours before I want to takeoff" amount of detail. However, if you want to go for something really realistic, and although they aren't fly-by-wire PMDG tends to make very complex add-ons.Especially the 747 and the MD-11 have been mentioned quite frequently to be superb. VRS has also produced a very nice aircraft, I'm not actually sure though if the F-18 (http://www.avsim.com...10/VRS/F18.html) is a fly by wire aircraft.Maybe even better though: The Embraer E-Jets by Wilco. I've heard that they are quite good and they come with addons like CALL! which are supposed to be quite useful. In fact, when looking through the reviews on Avsim - almost anything that has a Gold Star Award is an excellent choice. The E-Jets are also fly-by-wire.What kind of range are you aiming for though?
  19. I've used it now and it seems like a really good program to use. Haven't had any problems with it so far and the "fixes" seem to work. I've however noticed that the AI aircraft take their taxi turns way earlier. Hasn't created any "wheels on the grass" situations yet so it seems fine. The AI taxi speed is really good though for airports like St. Maarten or Male where there is a runway used for taxiing.
  20. I also use ADE, it's a very powerful tool yet easy to understand and use. Just edit an airport and compile the bgl into your Addon Scenery folder. You can also change the terrain to create space for you airport and so on.
  21. My Norton didn't find any on the FlusiFix 2006, which one are you referring to?
  22. Ditto that question: What do I have to do with these 3 files? It seems to look awesome.
  23. Have you installed any AI packages like WOAI or similar that use FS9 Flight plans? Because if that's the case FSX ignores all FSX-type flight plans. Check that for sure. Also on some of the Aerosoft Airports aircraft become invisible if you switch on "Aircraft casts shadow on ground".
  24. I thought it should rather be 140-180 knots depending on aircraft size. However, I just put the fuel 20 feet to the front and that stops the A340-300 from bouncing. Haven't tried it with the -600 yet, though. Guess it's solved. Thanks for your help though PFL!
