  1. The project is on hold very briefly, but I uploaded a Southwest 600 today that has the new bump maps included if you care to get them that way. Otherwise, the 600 will be included with the pack as soon as I can finish it up!
  2. I'm on a lower end system. I've always had fewer FPS inside than out when the panel is powered and the gauges are on. This is expected, I would think, with an add on of this complexity. What has the greatest impact when I'm in the VC is weather. So if you're trying to do any sort of benchmarking or tuning, I'd recommend using a generic weather theme like clear or fair, so the conditions outside are always the same.
  3. We are required to state what aircraft is required for the repaints we upload. The "other files required" thing usually happens when the repaint author issues corrected textures in a separate upload instead of completely replacing the original. Are you asking, for example, that people who repaint a PMDG plane always provide you with a link to the PMDG site? Or do you mean, authors are creating their own models and then uploading repaints without telling you the filename of the model? I thought this was covered in the upload procedure, since I've had repaints rejected because I didn't state the plane for which they were intended. John, I'm curious about what Flight Sim free add-on download sites are better-known than Avsim.com? I may need to spread my work around, since I've only been uploading here.
  4. I'm perplexed myself, Steve. I can see the line on one of my earlier 800s, but I don't see it on my Southwests. I don't know if I've changed files or my procedures along the way, but I don't get it now.
  5. Oh man, I'm really sorry you're having to go through all of that. We'll send all of our pilot prayers your way. I know everybody is missing your repaints. I appreciate the compliments. I intended to have them uploaded already and I keep getting sidetracked. Hopefully tomorrow.
  6. Rich! It's good to see you! Everybody is asking about you all the time. Stubbs, back to an earlier question, I don't THINK I posted a UPS tail. I think may have been someone else. Have you gotten a chance to check out your glare shield?
  7. EC&G is still pretty much the same. It's parent company just took a lot of their properties and gave them all a URS brand. EC&G became the technical services branch of URS. The pilots tend to be former AF with the kind of embarrassing security clearances that require you to sit you in a room while they take out a big folder that makes you regret 90% of everything you've ever done or said on the internet.
  8. That's completely false. Flat Top smiled shortly before a drone fell from it's rack and killed him after his 1000th landing. Doral smiled just before pressing the button on his suicide vest. And Dualla....Dualla smiled beautifully just before blowing her brains all over her locker. So don't go saying there were no smiles! :LMAO: I've been a Trekkie(er) my entire TV watching life. I'm picky about what I like. Babylon never hooked me. Loved Voyager but was bored to tears by DS9. Loved the new BSG. This may not count, but I started playing Mass Effect about a year ago, and it has quickly taken it's place among my favorite sci fi.
  9. I'm (finally) about to retire Southwest so I can move on to things people are actually asking for. If I don't, I'll keep remixing the blue until I die. Here are the "new" ones. I may update the rest of the fleet with the newest color palette so they match. Also, they will all have v2 of the bump maps already included, since the exterior packs are on hold. In the pipes: -600 -700 -800
  10. Maybe it's just because I've been simming since '81, but I tend to be amazed at what it CAN do rather than trying to eek out the things it can't.
  11. Yeah, I'm due to receive a "get a life" speech from William Shatner pretty soon.
  12. hahaha It was an old -700 repaint I never uploaded. It's straight lines along the fuse made it easy to copy over to the -600 paint kit. I still need to make a set of bump maps to bring it up to standard with the 700/800 sets. On the subject of exterior textures, v2 of the bump maps are finished, but I'm having issues with the speculars on the -800 model. The fuse_2 section looks brighter than _1 & _3 and I'm starting to think its the model and not my files. So the exterior packs will be delayed for a bit.
  13. Would the classic livery suit you? I can do one fairly quick.
  14. Exactly, Steve. I've even shelved Lone Star One because of the way the large star crosses over the top above the doors. I can't seem to compensate for the way the model distorts up there. I'll hold on to the files in case anyone else want's them, otherwise it's on indefinite hold until I have some quantum leap in skill level. lol
  15. McCarter, a definite no from me, I'm afraid. I explored the possibility a while back. Maybe someone that can redraw that art work. They are stylized versions of the state flags, and I have never been able to find adequate artwork from which I could reproduce them. The Florida One would be particularly challenging due to the art crossing over areas of the model that cause things to distort. Trying to line all that up over the top would drive me mad. I would love to see them get done, but they are way beyond me.
  16. Aside from an index finger that bleeds when I bend it, the hand is functional. I can type and use a mouse, but gripping my pen or yoke is another story. I really should have gotten it stitched. up, but I was trying to see if I could go a whole year without a trip to the E.R. :Black Eye:
  17. Morning gents, I just posted a link in the repainters forum regarding subscription based services for Photoshop and other Adobe products. If you've hesitated to start repainting due the cost of the software, now may be the time to give it a try! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/371861-repainters-rejoice-photoshop-and-other-adobe-products-available-via-subscription/
  18. I know the cost of Photoshop can be a major obstacle for many potential repainters out there. I noticed this article this morning regarding subscription based services for Adobe products. See the link below: "Adobe Creative Cloud memberships cost $50/month if you're willing to sign up for a whole year or $75/month if you're subscribing on a month-to-month basis. (If CS6 is too pricey for you, then keep in mind that older versions of Adobe's software — such as CS3, CS4, CS5 and CS5.5 — are available for $30/month.)" http://www.gadgetbox.msnbc.msn.com/technology/gadgetbox/photoshop-13-other-new-adobe-cs6-apps-available-subscription-729919 This is the first I've heard of this. If this is old news, please forgive me and disregard.
  19. Very nice! The NG wears that classic livery very well.
  20. As far as the future of the sim goes, I'm much more interested in paying for P3D than Xplane in it's current form. And Flight is just a joke as far as long haul flying goes. No way I'm paying for each section of the planet to be added little by little. All I've wanted for several years was a supported and updated version of FSX, which is what P3D is offering me right now. Plus, PMDG's continued support of FSX will keep it alive until the time comes that they chose to move away from the platform. I've tried the Xplane demo and I'm just not impressed with it at all.
  21. Sorry, I've been under the weather, then as I recovered I smashed three fingers on my mouse-wielding hand. So I've been out of service. Nice to know that when you drop off the radar, other members listen for your ELT!
