  1. Believe me they will have spread far and wide. Certain "bots" are already replicating the videos.
  2. Its out of control now. Many will have downloaded the videos and they'll pop up again and again from non NDA individuals as ultimately the videos are public and going "viral". No doubt there is a legal framework around this, but at this stage its inevtiable based on the nature of the internet. Of course Microsoft will have anticipated this, no doubt they probably even rehearsed for this exact situation and they are probably not surprised. Its likely worth taking the risk of running an Alpha. In fact some might say an unauthorised leak is additonal PR and could be healthy for business.
  3. Hello friend, you might have seen my earlier post in this thread which already mentions this time stamp in the first Discovery Series World video, but I think this is the closest Lionel got to describing how Asobo are utilising Azure Cloud Computing; athough based on the age of the video I am sure the whole team have moved on from this point by now. Certainly an amazing attempted application of technology put to great use for Flight Simulator. Don’t forget, if you are not in the Alpha, a good way of previewing the 3D data Asobo might be using for the region / city you are in is to simply open Bing maps which will live stream you the latest satellite / 3D building data from Azure, of which Asobo might be using too, direct from Bing Maps servers.
  4. Not sure if you are referring to me? I can very safely say (sadly) that I am not an Alpha tester (yet), but I have studied all the Discovery Series videos in detail and watched all the B roll video which was released publicly last September.
  5. You're right. What is comforting about this approach (using Azure Cloud Computing) and the fact that textures are streamed, is that their "buildings generation system" can constantly be improved as the product matures. For example, Lionel goes on to say that when Bing stores an original satellite image of an area covered temporarily by clouds, perhaps in the case of Dubai, their algorithm will try to account for that. Meaning, there will always be auto-gen estimates, because the satellite data may never be 100% clear of real cloud cover or obtrusions (sensitive geo-graphical areas which cannot be imaged and are intentionally blurred), which makes this whole process on-going and likely will never be perfected.
  6. Indeed, we already know custom building type, roof type and colour is confirmed, because Lionel confirms this in the very first Feature Discovery Series video: World, at the 3 Minute 50 Seconds mark. "what shape the building should have, what colours its roof should be, what is the type of roof" Lionel goes onto say that Asobo solved this using Azure Cloud Computing.
  7. I find it excruciating. But then I remember the anticipation / hype will be even stronger once the release comes. I can’t imagine how I’m going to feel when I fire it up for the first time. I’m planning a new high spec PC build with 1440p or 4K monitor just for it, with a new nvidia gen 3000 series card, a latest gen CPU and a Honeycomb yoke. Looking forward to this moment more than testing the alpha actually.
  8. There is no update due today, sadly. Next update 6th Feb.
  9. Wonder if instead of relying on emailing Insiders notifications or build links, which can end up in spam or provide phishing opportunities, they’re maybe considering updating the website to act more as an Alpha distribution portal. This is a wild guess of course.
  10. I saw a post by a Reddit user confirming the same, limited / buggy TA1 experience. No doubt that will improve in the Alpha and of course none of this alleged “experience” or comment could be truly validated as per NDA.
  11. I’m sure I saw the 6th Feb quoted somewhere but for the life of me I can’t find where Asobo mentions this. It’s probably staring me right in the face. Do you know? Inside the Insiders website area?
  12. I agree, bad time. Let’s see what Spring / Summer brings. No doubt video card manufacturers are anticipating healthy competition from Xbox and Sony this year with their console launches. Not a bad thing.
  13. If Asobo did consider this approach then ironically Asobo might also generate and contribute to a small % of new, early Windows 10 licence sales as Insiders upgrade their PC systems. Not a bad thing, which surely is the whole point of a Windows release first, before Xbox.
  14. Best of luck. Out of interest, did you choose an nVidia RTX card? I'm so close to ordering a new PC but considering holding off until an actual release date for MSFS2020 becomes more clear.
  15. On the homepage my understanding of the following sentence "Starting 01.23 – 01.27 you will be able to update your machine spec information" actually meant that Asobo were only opening a small window of 5 days (between 01.23 - 01.27) where they'd allow Insiders to update their DxDiag. After 01.27 they'd close the update window. However I think I've interpreted this incorrectly as today (01.28) I still appear to be able to update my DxDiag within the "My Profile" section of the website. It appears then that Asobo wrote this sentence to mean that at some point between 01.23 - 01.27, all Insiders will be able to update their DxDiag, an unlimited amount of times with no announced end date (as of yet). Reason I am asking is that I'm just about to order a new PC and of course once it arrives on 02.01 I'll update my DxDiag, although I totally understand by then it might be too late to be accepted into the Alpha and of course there is no guarantee of ever being accepted even with a new PC and a new DxDiag, as per their FAQ.
  16. ...... AAAAND it gone. The public facing forum post has been removed. 😞 In care you are wondering, it used to look like this. Hype over, back to F5'ing and praying lol
  17. My app has been stable for a few years, never had a problem. Maybe you could try installing it on a fresh build of Windows 10 in a VM or another PC? Microsoft are apparently aware of issues with the current version and are developing a new version.
  18. Totally agree. Its amazing how public facing forum posts like this manage to provoke the hype. I'm totally hyped and equally totally disappointed to not have been accepted for TA1 or Alpha (yet). Nonetheless, what an outstanding job Asobo Studio have done to date, regardless of being accepted, I've never been more optimistic. I think you can be hyped, disappointed and optimistic all in one go, what a rollercoaster. 😁
  19. I hope I am wrong, but for those of us who missed TA1 and also end up missing the upcoming Alpha, when they say “looking forward to releasing the new build to everyone” they most probably only mean those who have been accepted. They likely don’t mean “everyone” to include just regular, registered Insiders who are not yet part of TA1 or Alpha, even although regular Insiders can view this forum update, which is a bit odd 😞
  20. Huh, that’s interesting. So you can see topics in the forum which theoretically are covered by the NDA, but you’ve never had an email as far as you know and you don’t have access to the software, right?
  21. I agree, the hub isn't intuative. Click on the actual "Insider Content" button on the left, this
  22. Hey everyone, So Microsoft just created this browser based Flight Sim to demo their new Web Browser in Windows 10. What I find astonishing is their video reflecting on Flight Simulator as a brand - it just gave me great hope, probably an empty hope. http://flightarcade.com/learn/ Dave Denhart's public LinkedIn profile doesn't show an update since Sep 2012. Amazing to think he was with subLOGIC from the very beginning: https://www.linkedin.com/pub/dave-denhart/6/696/205
  23. I am an extremely long time lurker, and dedicated FS fan. This news has my hopes up although we're into August now and nothing so far. Hope news comes soon. Anyway, I wanted to say that I think stone should setup a donate button on his site, I'd be keen to support the toolkit for sure, perhaps others would too. Although I guess the point at which stone accepts money blurs the lines of suddenly then feeling responsible - a feeling I wouldn't like myself. Just a thought / conversation point. Anyways, nice to be following you guys and gals, and fingers crossed for news soon.
  24. Not been on this forum for a long time, but you've just made me want to fire up Flight again. Brilliant work stonelance, thank you.
  25. Really WELL DONE here stonelance and gibbage. I was on the early beta (wont forget the excitement and anticipation) - and now there are sparks of those same feelings coming back. Good luck. Perhaps a Kickstarter project to help fund this could happen?
