  1. Hi Eric, I've actually seen the same effect myself! Will try and post a picture when I get a chance of the effect. So in this case, I know you haven't been smoking your socks.. ;-) Cheers, Andy
  2. The other thing to bare in mind, is that if you are doing a crossbleed start of the No1 without an APU operative supplying bleed air, you will need to advance the throttles slightly to increase the air pressure supplied by the No 2 engine. (Caught me out before!) Otherwise you won't have enough air pressure to start No 1. Also check the Bleed switch setting as mentioned earlier, and you can also check the Gauge above the bleed switches to ensure that you're getting enough pressure to start the No 1 engine. Thanks, Andrew
  3. I know you're correct in that the Actuator is disabled certainly on takeoff below approx 80 knots. However what I've seen (from memory) is that the flaperon will initially be down when lined up for Take Off. When the thrust is increased then the actuator will disengage and the Flaperon will 'float' on the exhaust gasses and raise up above the current angle of the extended flaps. Then once passing 80knots the actuator will engage, forcing the flaperon down into the exhaust gasses and to the angle of the extended flaps. I'm sure someone with far more 777 knowledge than me will be along to confirm this in far greater detail than me Cheers, Andy
  4. Technically, Guinness is 'Stout' and not beer (as we seem to be splitting so many hairs on this thread!) ;-)
  5. "The upper deck is not economy. With Delta, it's business class since they don't offer First on international flights. With Lufthansa I think the upper deck is first. You pay thousands of dollars for a premium ticket. With Lufthansa a First Class ticket from ORD-FRA on a 744 will go for about $15,000. I don't know if that's an upper deck seat though." Depends on who you fly with - however, I know that Virgin Atlantic on a few of their 747's (mainly based out of Gatwick) have premium economy upstairs, which is a it more palatable in cost when compared with the cost of a business/first class ticket. For the record, it's very nice up there and so quiet you can start to really notice the wind noise increasing as the aircraft accelerates above 10000 feet. :) Andy
  6. I also get the issue with the flashing triangles in the VC if I load the JS41 from FSX, or if I load the cessna and then change it. However, I've found that if you load the tutorial flight straight from Windows without loading FSX, e.g. Browse to the relevant directory and double click on the JS41 tutorial flight I don't get this issue. I can then move to anywhere in the world, set time and date and it works fine for me.. Might be worth a shot? Cheers,Andy
  7. +1(Although I consider myself British, rather than a European!)I actually got 'stuck' in Barbados while on holiday out there due to the Airspace closures in the UK which lasted for several days following the eruption.. It was so hard having those extra 8 days sat by the pool drinking Rum while the holiday company picked up the tab!I also bumped into the SFO in Duty Free before we boarded and had a good chat about how much fun the empty 747 was they flew out to rescue us :-)Those Vids of the haboob are pretty mad, especially from the air, reminds me a bit of the sandstorm I saw out in Tunisia a few years back, which incidentally was followed by one of the most epic storms I've seen.Cheers,Andy Hedges
  8. Thank you gents for answering my question comprehensively, my curiosity is now sated! :)Cheers,Andy Hedges
  9. Gents, a quick question...There seems to be a current trend of putting winglets on new aircraft and also retrofitting them to older aircraft to gain efficiencies in fuel economy and lift. However, the current (and future) big boeings don't seem to use them 777, 748 & 787 and neither does the Airbus A380 is this because modern advances in wing design and efficiency mean that the winglets are not needed or is it a different reason?Cheers,Andy Hedges
  10. Some big lists out there...I've kept it fairly simple for the time being, having come back to FSX in the last year : -UsingFSX + AccelerationRex HDWilco Airbus Packs 1+2PMDG MD11xPMDG JS4100Feelthere E-Jets V2Air Hauler - As addictive as crack flavoured Pringles... I blame this addon for firing up my enthusiasm for FSX again.. :-)ConsideringGEX - Europe - After reading these lists and looking at the websitesFS Commander - Trialling this for my Route Planning (SIDS/STARS etc)Cheers,Andy
  11. Interestingly enough, I've just had something very similar to this yesterday.Just built a new rig for playing FSX at the weekend and everything was running very nicely. However, I couldn't find my original E-Jets V2 download, so I redownloaded the updated version with SP1 and installed it yesterday. I had a bit of a fly in my MD-11 and the JS41 yesterday with Air Hauler prior to this and all was running well. I then fired up the E-195, had a bit of a play and then shutdown and went and had some dinner.Went back after dinner, selected the MD-11 in the FSX menu, and bang - instant hang (no PMDG initialising for me..) Killed FSX, rebooted, tried the JS41 and had exactly the same thing.. :(Tried various different things to resolve the issue, but in the end had to reinstall FSX+Addons again.. :(All was well again until I installed the E-Jets took a quick flight and then discovered that exactly the same thing had happened...MD-11 and JS41both fail... The thing is, the original (non SP) version of the E-Jet V2 worked fine with no issues with my PMDG Aircraft, so there's something that's sneaked in with the Service Pack for the E-Jets.. (trying to subtly nobble the competition pehaps!?!) ;-)So two re-installs of FSX later, I'd also be interested to hear what the Dev's have to say as you're not alone on this one...Andy
