  1. Forgot about this thread. Sorry guys. I tried it and it didn't work. Also got tired of the LAAP message asking for a donation scrolling across the top of my screen every 5 minutes. I'll stick with AI chatter. Todd
  2. What about Mindstar GNS integration for those of us with P3D? Cheers, Todd
  3. Brian, would you mind posting a link to that article? It would be good for folks to be informed as to why it is considered pirated software. Cheers.
  4. I could almost swear that I read on Facebook a year or so ago that MilViz or Razbam an F-16C in development.
  5. I agree, Bill. Rob's tweak works very well. Huge difference. I think it's stickied in the P3D Tips and Tricks forums.
  6. Thanks drdickie. I use flightaware a lot, which is what initiated my curiosity about these Alaska-Asia routes. There was a FedEx flight on March 8, I believe, which was the most recent. I've been doing more research on the subject since I posed my initial questions, and it seems the PACOTs that are published daily do not include routes to and from Alaska. I finally found an international NOTAM from Anchorage ARTCC that sets some guidelines about the use of NOPACs from Alaska. Essentially the two northern NOPAC tracks are the airways of choice for westbound flights.
  7. Good link, scandinavian. I did some more research and cam across more good info, for those who are interested: http://www.slideserve.com/nantai/nopac-operations http://avstop.com/seaplane/70/ch4.html
  8. In a previous thread I mentioned my interest in trying some cargo flights in the 777. The route I gave chosen is a FedEx flight from PANC to VHHH. I'm somewhat familiar with transoceanic flights across the Pacific using PACOTs, but notice routes to and from Alaska are not mentioned in the NOTAMs. Is this because there is complete radar coverage along these routes? Are there specific guidelines to follow when planning such a route like there are with Transpacific and Transatlantic routes? For example, I have read about NOPAC tracks and OTR tracks when planning Transpacific flights and am curious about how these come into play when planning a flight. I posted a similar question in the flight planning forum but I think this forum will get more hits from the diehard long haul gang. Thanks in advance. Todd
  9. I'm trying to plan a flight from Anchorage to Hong Kong and have been doing some flight planning research. I've been studying some routes on flightaware.com and see that many routes include NOPAC routes and OTRs in the flight plan. Is there a set of NOTAMs or ICAO rules that govern transoceanic flight planning to include certain tracks or other routing requirements when flying transoceanic routes to/from Alaska? I'm a little new to this so some of my terminology might be flawed. Todd
  10. This is also a very unique hobby. In essence simming has created/revolutionized the commercial flight simulation market. How many other hobbies can claim such a thing? Just think about it. FSX/P3D ESP and X-plane are being used in many commercial simulators used in RW training. Many well-known developers' products that we use to enhance our virtual experience are also being used on a commercial level to create a better virtual flying environment for pilots in training. Today, there is a very fine line between our hobby and commercial simulation and the two worlds, in many ways, feed off each other. In fact, I would say the commercial market has, and continues to, benefit greatly from the years of experience we have in the flight sim community.
  11. Thanks, guys. Great info. I'm think my first flight will be from PANC to VHHH, since Hong Kong is the freight capital of the world. Todd
  12. I understand your frustration but your characterization of the LM P3D team is innacurate. First of all, the P3D team consists only of a few guys, so to suggest P3D equals the entire LM developmental and technical support world is just wrong. Secondly, Orbx was well aware of the issues the new v2.5 created during beta testing. Those issues weren't a major roadblock but took time to fix which is why JV cautioned everyone to wait. That fix was released about 1 week after release. LM is not in the business of testing every sim addon in P3D, which is why almost every major developer is a beta tester. Rest assured, giving the limited manpower of the P3D team, their top priority is to develop the software and get it out to their commercial customers. The sim community, while not their priority, is invaluable to the continued development of P3D, you can be assured, but understand where their priority lies. That being said, to the OP, I highly recommend P3D. I love it.
  13. I'm going to give it a try this weekend and will report back. Todd

    Tutorial 2?

I'll second olli4740's recommendation with enthusiasm. Go to the Aerosoft forums and search for the PFPX tutorials written by Belisar (I believe that is his name). He has put together two excellent 2-part guides on ETOPs planning and setting up the FMC in the 777. One guide is geared toward flights over the Atlantic and the other guide is for flights over the Pacific. You do not need to own PFPX to benefit from these guides. In fact, I use SimBrief and found both very informative. Cheers, Todd
  15. I thought I'd dip my feet in the water of the freight world and was wondering if there are any specifics to think about when flight planning, etc. I use SimBrief as my flight planner. What is a typical cargo load on the 777-200 (I'm thinking FedEx, not that it matters)? Thanks, Todd
  16. Just wondering if anyone has tried the 2 together. Seems to me these would make a killer combination. Todd
  17. I know you want payware, and that's perfectly fine, but I would seriously take a look at WoAI before you spend the money. The models are excellent and the packages are easy to install. If you don't like it, then try one of the others. Just my 2 cents. Cheers, Todd
  18. I wonder if there is potential conflict between NVidia Inspector and NVidia Control Panel? Can the 2 work alongside each other? Just a thought. Todd
  19. For the incredible quality and educational content of these videos. Here we are a year later and I still find myself going back to this series, not only because I find them enjoyable to watch, but also because I learn something new each time I watch one of your videos. If anyone has ever been on the fence about buying the Cadet training series, stop thinking about it and buy the series. Now. This video series is by far one if the best training aids I have ever purchased. I can still say that, with enthusiasm, a year after my purchase. I really am looking forward to the first officer series. Keep up the good work, guys. Cheers, Todd
  20. KenG, you are correct. There is no Universal FMS in the ISG package. Only the Smith-style FMS and GNS-XLs. The Milviz Universal FMS is the exact same unit found in the Eaglesoft Citation CJ1+ - same coder (not Erie Alston, by the way, who is on the Quality Wings development team). Cheers, Todd
  21. Dave, Excellent stuff and I am sure your suggestions will help a lot of people. While I already get solid performance, there is always more headroom to be had so I will certainly try some of your tips. Can I also suggest to consider not using REX HD clouds and ground textures? I use 512 resolution clouds and 1024 ground textures for 2 reasons: they are not hard on performance and, to me at least, the clouds appear softer and more realistic. Again, just my opinion but something to think about. Thank you!
  22. Guys, I first of all thank you for taking interset in helping me to resolve this issue. Big Sky - no such folder exists on my system. Are you using Elite TQ's yourself? If so, I am assuming you are having no AT conflicts? PMDG 777 - I checked FSUIPC and the only control spike selections have to do with ailerons, elevator, and rudder. I couldn't find any throttle or general control spike section. Regardless, FSUIPC doesn't recognize my TQ anyway. I have also tried changing my AT setting in the PMDG options menu, at the suggestion of PMDG technical support (i.e. setting to 'NEVER'), but that hasen't helped either. I also emailed Elite technical support but I am still awaiting a reply. I'm not giving up yet. Hopefully there will be a solution because I am really enjoying learning this aircraft.
  23. Chris, I do use a registered copy of FSUIPC but the Elite TQ uses its own configuration utility and, as such, FSUIPC does not appear to work with it. At least, I haven't been able to get FSUIPC to work. I'll try again as I just upgraded to P3D v2.5. Todd
