  1. "........................ The Boeing pilot has something between his legs." Yes, a diaper.
  2. Thanks, but not likely because "I can see for miles and miles"
  3. Yes! None of the complainers are aware of the technical issues involved in creating whatever new or updated addon they demand, because they have never attempted to create their own - it's like this with modding FS - to quote from Substitute by The Who - "The simple things you see are all complicated"
  4. I am sick of reading about this or that addon company NOT doing enough for flight simmers. NOBODY is ENTITLED to anything new or updated from these companies. It is probably unique in the gaming industry that anyone IS still producing addons for a sim which is 11 years old. Also, it depends on how the airport has been created as to whether AES can be added at all, and that's why there are hundreds of "neglected" airports, both freeware and payware. Just visit the AES forum if you want to request an airport - "lazy" Oliver will check it out and tell you if it's possible or not, as he has already done for hundreds of others.
  5. Sounds like a missing airport scenery texture if its only crashing at a certain time, say daytime in summer. If there are no updates for the airport, try re-installing it.
  6. The slow power increase will be due to Airwrench applying its own figures for any settings which are missing from the .cfg or .air files for your aircraft. That is why you must check and amend your Aircraft.cfg figures before opening Airwrench, as the .cfg figures will override the .air file figures. When you open the .air file in Airwrench, it will then adjust and synchronise both .cfg and .air file figures for you, but you need to know exactly what you are doing with them and read the manual very carefully. Spool-up is the jet engine spinning up to speed before ignition.
  7. If your manual has the engine specifications such as intake area and static thrust, enter these and any others into the aircraft.cfg file BEFORE using Airwrench. Then in the Engine tab, set the correct Vmax altitude for the 747 and then adjust the RAM Air Gain figure. Go to the Specs tab and check the air speeds - adjust the RAM Air Gain until you achieve the correct Vmax, Vmo, Mmo and Cruise TRUE AIR SPEEDS, not Indicated, for the 747 at Vmax altitude. You will need to use an indicated to true air speed converter, there are a few online which are very useful. If your 747 panel has an FMC, be VERY careful about adjusting aircraft.cfg and .air file weights, fuel capacities and engine specs as the FMC will be calibrated exactly to those specs.
  8. If you can remember which scenery files you were updating: go to your Scenery.cfg in the main FS9 folder, open it in Notepad, scroll down to each scenery you were updating and change Active=True to Active=False and restart FS9. If this works, change each one back to =True one at a time and restart FS until you get the freeze again.
  9. All jet engines suffer reduced performance at altitude, but this is exaggerated in FS by lift induced drag at altitude which means certain aircraft cannot achieve cruise altitude or speed. You can alter this by editing the .air file - in the Primary Aerodynamics, Drag section: *Cdo Drag Coefficient - Zero Lift= Change whatever number is there already to 10 and that should fix it, if the engine specs and reference speeds in the aircraft.cfg file are correct.
  10. Could be a module issue - if you have fs8 or earlier modules, check that you have the oldmodules section in your fs9.cfg and that each module is named with =1 after it
  11. I have also tried setting affinity to a single core for FS9 in Windows 7 x64, I didn't notice any significant FPS loss but Radar Contact began "stuttering" (the sounds became intermittent) which obviously rendered the experiment pointless for me. Regards, Tim
  12. I found that converting the PSS Airbus external and VC textures to DXT3 improved framerates for me. I also found that sweetfx killed them again, if you have nvidia graphics I would try nvidia inspector instead for AA at x8 multi to start with.

    BN2 AI

It could be the AI flightplan rather than the aircraft itself, check the flight time allowed for the bad plane as it may be need more time than the other two. Regards, Tim
  14. Yes there are Imagetool batch scripts available, sorry I've forgotten the file name, but all you do is copy your chosen batch file and imagetool.exe into a texture folder and double-click the batch file. DON'T use it in your main texture folder without moving all the sky textures out first - adding alpha channels to those creates a sci-fi nightmare sky...
  15. Hi Martin, This panel does require FSUIPC, which has an "extended battery life" option in the Miscellaneous tab, if you have FSUIPC check that this option is not selected, although I tried it and it didn't work for me. Just a thought - I did notice that the ND gauge came from a Cessna Citation panel, now there is a payware FS9 Citation X available which can be started from cold and dark - it's $49.95 - you could then swap the A380 ND for the Citation ND, and get 2 new planes for the price of 1 - provided the Citation ND is a separate gauge and not part of a "cluster" of course. Regards, Tim
  16. Hi Martin, The ND screen which won't switch off is AB380CPT.PSSND.gau, an FS98 C+ gauge which is probably not coded for FS2004 electrical failures etc. Unfortunately it's not editable either, not by me anyway, so you may have to put up with it unless anyone else can help... Regards, Tim
  17. Hi Martin, Which panel are you using? I'll install it on my system and see if I get the same issue Regards, Tim
  18. Hi Martin, If you have this flight saved as your default flight, un-save it! Revert to the default 172 at KSEA flight, then select your A380 and airport etc. from there. Some add-on panels will do really weird things if you don't start up with a default aircraft loaded first - the PSS Dash 8 Q300 won't let you switch on it's EHSI at all unless you start with the default 172 first in my experience (there's something like a master battery circuit missing from somewhere in the gauge programming, which may have happened in the port-over from FS2002 to FS2004, who knows?) and there may be a similar issue with this A380 panel. Regards, Tim
  19. Hi Egbert, read the "A Huge FPS Increase" thread pinned at the top of this forum - it also improves texture loading time.
  20. 'Ow do, Blackpool - this could be a terrain mesh problem, if you have any terrain mesh for the USA try de-activating it in the FS scenery list and if that fixes it, go to add/remove programs and try repairing or re-installing the mesh program.
  21. Hi Harald, I found it in a list of FS9 tweaks years ago, it was one of the graphics performance tweaks: "By adding the PanelAsTexture line, your performance will even increase specially with 2d panel 3rd party aircraft, it may cause 2-d panels to blank out if you've enabled AA inside FS2004, uncheck AA in fs2004, and enabling AA from your preferred tweaker or your driver display setting." Regards, Tim
  22. Hi Gary, In FS9.cfg, in the [Display.Device.] section, add this line: PanelAsTexture=0 Regards, Tim
  23. b738pilot, What you need is either landclass or photoscenery for Spain, you could start by looking here: http://vfrflightsimulator.blogspot.co.uk/2010/01/descargas.html Regards, a32
