  1. Is there a complete list of all the keyboard shortcuts available for the NGX? I am trying to use my Thrustmaster Cougar MFD's with a registered version of FSUPIC and the come of the default controls don't work. I know that somewhere there must be a list, because when people ask what one is someone always comes up with whatever the correct shortcut is. A complete list would be much appreciated. Can anyone help me here? Thanks in advance...
  2. One other note about V1. The speed is predicated on stopping on the remaining runway WITHOUT the use of thrust reverse, ONLY maximum braking. Yes, on a shorter runway V1 will be well below Vr.
  3. That is not correct. You can autoland on a CAT I runway, it is done all the time for practice and aircraft certification. The ILS signal is the same regardless of the CAT certification of the runway and the ILS receiver doesn't know the difference. In the actual aircraft you disengage the autopilot with a thumb switch on the yoke, and you silence the warning by pressing the same thumb switch a second time. If you hit it just right you can disengage with the warning never sounding.
  4. At my airline the Yaw Damper is turned on after the IRS is aligned and the electric Hydraulic pumps are turned on. This is after external power is selected or the APU is started. FWIW I had it not turn on once, made the flight without it, and the problem never occurred again.
  5. When you installed FSX and accel, did you start FSX and do a short flight before installing Accel? And again before you installed NGX? In fact, you need to start FSX and do a short flight (1 min will do) between installing any addons.
  6. The advantage of Professional is that it has some compatability tweaks that Home Premium doesn't have, and this may allow you to use more programs designed for WinXP that will not run natively on 7.
  7. Most airlines doing ETOPS leave the APU running until the ETOPS Exit point. It is cheaper to run it than to abort a crossing because they couldn't get it started. FWIW.
  8. Be careful. Yes, the release tells the pilots what information was used in the creation of the release. The flap settings are based on the runway analysis that the airline uses. But the pilot is the final responsibility for the flight, and if he has a reason not to use what the dispatcher has come up with that is his choice to have them re-release the flight with new information.
  9. FWIW, in 7000+ hours of flying real 737's in an airline environment, I can probably count on two hands the number of times I got into an aircraft with even one switch out of place. It just doesn't happen very much, at least not at my airline.
  10. I hate to ask stupid questions, but how do you tell what "version" of the aircraft you have? Obviously I konw I don't have SP1, but I would like to know if I need to d/l any hotfixes.... john croft
  11. FWIW, operators don't leave the parking brake set when leaving the aircraft. Once the chocks are in place, before the APU is shut off the parking brake is released. So if your showing it not set when you get in and in the cold and dark state that is what you would see in the real world.
  12. That is pretty much exactly what was happening to me. The only way I was able to fix it was to go the dual boot route with a 64 bit OS so it could see all 8GB of my ram. It will NOT run reliably on my 32 but WinXP, although this is the ONLY addon A/C I have that has this problem. That being said, a 500GB HD to set up the dual boot on was about $35 and the OS was $149 for the OEM version. Yes, it's an additional expense, and yes, it's a PITA, but I would bet that it will solve your freezing problem. You will still not have good frame rates with your current setup, but I bet you will be able to complete a flight. If you wish to go that route I would be happy to show you how to set up your rig to dual boot...
  13. FWIW, since no one really wants to help you, I'll give it a try. I had the same problem with a computer much more powerful than what you have. I am forced to run WinXP 32 bit as my primary OS on this rig. I could not make the NG run properly. I set the rig up to dual boot with Win7 64 bit, and the program runs fine under the 64 bit OS. I would recommend that you have at least 4GB of RAM overall, and either reformat with Win7 64 bit, or go buy a cheap 500GB hard drive and set up a dual boot system. No it's not the most elegant solution, but it does work.
  14. According to the thread about it that I read, with all posts dated in June of 2011, it hasn't been released yet, and even if it had the PMDG 737NGX wasn't one of the A/C listed as being supported as of it's "release". And regardless, if my joystick/throttle isn't generating a command that FSUPIC can see, I doubt that any other software would see it either, as these are the only two switches/buttons on them that don't generate a command. That is what I am looking for. A way to start and shutdown the APU from the keyboard, which I could then assign to the APU switch on the HOTAS. And FWIW, since my FUEL FLOW switches don't generate a command in FSUPIC when moving them to the OVERRIDE position I don't know how I could use those switches as 2 way for turn something on and off.
  15. I don't get a command generated when I use the fuel override moving them to the override position, only when I move them to the norm position. I just mapped them to the ENG OPER switch. And thanks BADDERJET, that was the ticket. Do you know where I can find a complete list of the keyboard shortcuts for this thing? I looked at all the .pdf files and couldn't find one...
  16. I have the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and would like to map the start levers to some toggle switches so I don't have to go to the VC to start and shutdown the engines. I also have the full paid version of FSUPIC for that it's worth. I attempted to map the function to the fuel valves in FSUPIC, and while that allows me to shutdown the engines, it doesn't actually move the start levers. Anyone know of a way to get this mapped so it actually moves the levers? Thanks in advance...
  17. I do not run them in SLI when I am running FSX or FS9.
  18. I made it clear that this rig HAS to run WinXP as it's primary OS. It's not a choice, it is a necessity. I appreciate the concern about my old OS guys, but that's the way it is. And that is why I am trying to see if dual booting ONLY to run FSX will work to solve this problem.
  19. Think of the FD bars as what the auto pilot would be doing, if it was engaged. You have to be in a lateral mode to get the vertical bar, and you must be in a vertical mode to get the horizontal bar. If you have not engaged any of the lateral or vertical modes then the FD will not provide correct guidance.
  20. FWIW, most RW airlines prefer the pilots to deploy the reversers in idle unless above idle is required. All stopping distance criteria for aircraft certification is based on using brakes alone, with zero use of reverse thrust. It actually costs more to the airlines to real with the reverse cycles than it does to replace brake pads.
  21. If I go the dual boot route Win7 would be on a separate HD along with it's own install of FSX and all add on aircraft. My point is, if going to Win7 64 bit isn't going to solve the problem then there isn't any reason to do it...If there is a chance it would fix it that is different.
  22. I have win7 64 bit on 3 of my rigs. On this one I need to run XP home. I would be willing to bual boot this one with Win7 Pro if that would help, but it doesn't seem that it would.
  23. Just purchased the NGX, and from what I have seen it is great, at least visually. However, I have not been able to complete a flight with it yet. I installed the Continental livery, and am using it. I can get the APU started, and occasionally I can get it off the ground, but invariably the entire instrument paned will end up freezing. It appears that the outside view continues to move, but I will not be able to control the a/c and it will end up crashing. I have tried the shift-1 twice, changing panels, going to the VC, nothing seems to unfreeze the panels. Any ideas? I really want to use this plane, but in this state I'm obviously out of luck. system specs are:ASUS P8P67 MBIntel 2600K proc(2) GTX460 video cards8GB memory installedWinXp Home 32 bit Any other information you need let me know...HELP...:)
  24. I hate to ask this, but how do you disable fuel and payload in FSPAX? I have looked all over the place for that option and I can't find it, including in the .cfg files.
