  1. I was wondering why this was happening. Didnt make sense. By the way who beta tests these things? I've only purchased a few payare aircraft and all of them have problems that seem like they would be an easy fix. I don't know but I wonder why these things don't get resolved before release. Would it really take that long to fix a few extra issues?
  2. Where is there a panel explination .pdf? Without that unless I already know how to fly one of these I won't know where everything is. Am I just left to poke around to find stuff?
  3. May I ask where the panel layout guide is? I do not know what all the dials and switches and gauges mean? It seems there are some things in the checklist that can't be done?
  4. I also wish there was a good EMB 120. One flys into my home airport twice a day. I've ridden in one 4 or 5 times. Would purchase if one was done well enough.
  5. I was thinking about that the other day. In real life you have to do all that stuff. Is it still fun to just press CTR E and just take off and slam it back on the runway somewhere? What about flight planning, weather at the destination, alternate runway options, victor airways, altitude/ terrain planning, not to mention if you truly want to do an IFR flight plan. forgetabout it. Many steps to do in order to take off fly and land safely at your destination in real life. Without the possibility of crashing and burning it's just easy to press CTR E and take off. However IMHO I think if you purchase a payware aircraft and use your own hard earned money and give that to someone else it better be realistic. Quite honestly the external of the airplane is not that important to me. What I see in the cockpit, systems, realistic wear, overuse failures, realistic sounds, and lighting are most important to me. I want to me surrounded by realisim. Since I can't afford to fly in real life and my wife says it's too dangerous I am stuck with Flight Sim. So I want it real.
  6. Wow this is very interesting. Thank you for all the awesome comments. So I guess the idea is at some point buying payware aircraft will waste some money some of the time. But without the excersize a person could miss out on some truly amazing aircraft experiences. So it appears I will waste some money. Too bad the developers couldnt just upgrade the aircraft at a lower cost. I suppose some do that but without new money I guess some companies would dry up. Never heard of Lotus so I will check that out. The rest I have heard of. I'm thinking about the Caranado P46T as my next purchase. The video looks awesome and I would like a turbo jet. The price seems right. I just can make myself spend $50 or $60 bucks on a single airplane. Just too much. No matter what the detail is.O yea I forgot I am looking for a King Air for FSX... I have seem some in development I think?? and I know there was one for FS2004. Anyone know of one for FSX?
  7. So maybe I'm answering my own question here. Just buy 1 or 2 airplanes that I really like and just fly them. Which sounds stupid to even ask that question but I just wondered if people actually flew all the planes they purchased or just for a while then let them sit.
  8. Yea the NGX looks good probably the best but geeze I would need 100 hours to learn the systems and fly it properly.
  9. So I have been considering purchasing some payware aircraft. I already have an FSD Seneca, Navajo and Panther as well as a Caranado 182RG. I wanted to ask those that purchased many many payware aircraft how much time do you spend flying the aircraft you purchase. It seems like some people purchase a lot of payware and I'm concerend if I spend a bunch of money and then don't fly them it will be a waste. Do those that have purchased many payware aircraft spend many hours flying them? or do you find they just sit around. Thanks
  10. Well now that we've all done a masterful job of explaining our points I think I will just call this topic quits and go fly some FSX... and work a little on X-Plane to see what I can get out of it.
  11. I have this same plane and do not have that fx file in my effects folder. Where is it? Should it be there if I have the Seneca or is this related to the core game?
  12. Humm.. I understand where you are coming from. However I guess since I am new to x-plane I just wanna lay it all out there.. good bad or indiferent and find a fix if there is one to my problem. If you can't vent about xplane in the xplane forum then what else can I do. I have a feeling the creator of xplane wouldnt want me to "quietly go away and find something you do like" he would probably want me to come in here and vent and vent and figure out how to fix the program so I will buy it. It seems to me the hard core xplaners have a chip on their shoulder. I came in here and had one post about how bad the demo was and got jumped. I bet if we look back at the first FSX posts they called it junk too. the FPS was REALLY bad when I first bought it. In any case I think you and everyone in here should be supportive of a new person coming in here with complaints and problems rather than take the stance of "if you like it great if you don't screw you" That is just counter productive.I am looking forward to seeing the improvements and hopefully will purchase it one day as a solid alternative to FSX. I think it could be better at some point..
  13. One thing someone said in another post was "you have no business complaining if you are only using the demo". I thought about that for a while and realized that the only reason why I would buy XPX is if the demo impressed me, ran well on my system or something in the demo made me want to buy it.. So if the demo is not impressive it just seems people will be turned off.Anyway... I've been messing around with the demo for a while and I have to say the night graphics are second to none!! Totally realistic and awesome. My touble is the game starts acting weird when the time is up so I have to keep restarting the darn thing. I'm so used to FSX controlls I feel like I'm a prisioner in XPX. I am locked in a certain position and I can't make the sim do what I want. I almost feel like any other sim should just model their controls after microsoft flight sim since that's what most of us havebeen using soooo mannyyy years.I will never get all the detail shown in the video's with my system so not much I can do about that. My only gripe is I can get a stable 30FPS from FSX and have loads of detail. I think a lot of others feel the same way. Also the King Air which is what I've been flying is just weird. If you get the plane in a certain attitude it just stays there. In real life that is not how planes fly. Meaning they will correct themselves to level flight if you give a little more throttle or push down on the stuck then back to neutral. My experience with XPX is once the plane leans in a certain direction or is set off course it just keeps going that direction or even steeper unless you radically correct it. It's like it's not taking into account that air has lift properties. Which is weird because I thought that was the whole sim point of XPlane is the way the surfaces interacted with imaginary air??I appreciate what XPX could be and will keep my eyes on it. Thank you again for all the positive comments and helpfull input.
  14. I think Mountain Man enjoys stirring things up in the forums. I'm only been posting for few weeks and already been attacked by him.Anyway no need to get off topic.I appreciate the blog entry from Tom and hope something good comes from Flight.
  15. Mountain Man your sim of choice (the demo) was no good. It sucked when first fired up compared to FSX... It was rubbish. My frustration did come through in my post but too bad!!!! I'm as passionate about flight sims as you are. I posted in here to see if I could get someone with more experience in X-Plane the sim to help and they did thanks!!! What I'm trying to figure out is how to make it better. I already got a smoother ride by doing what TedG said. Water rendering seems to completely shut the sim down and I figured out how to make my hat switch move the views around along with other buttons assigned properly. It's just super different to what I am used to so it's a learning curve. Anyway no need for more discussion on this. I think it's just gonna be some time for me to get my system happy with the demo then I will see how 10.1 and 10.2 of the sim look and hopefully upgrade my system get that experience of what I think this sim can do. Maybe someone else who is having the same experince as I had can gain some help from this thread.Thank you
  16. How do you get your hat swtich on the joystick to be selected as 360 view? I did not see that.
  17. My comment was not meant as a flame to X-plane or whine about anything so too bad people immediately think that. Guess you just have to put up with that in any public forum.I appreciate all the positive comments in an effort to help. I will work with it and I know my video card needs updated. That will be a fairly inexpensive upgrade. I guess I forgot how much messing around I did with FSX. I think I was getting 5FPS at LAX when it first came out so I suppose with updates and tweaking will make a difference.Any help and constructive suggestions are appreciated.
  18. So I looked at the screenshots and video's of X-10 and figured I would download the demo. It took quite a while but finally loaded up.What a mess!! My system is a quad core with a 8800GT Nvidia card with 4gigs of ram. Runs FSX at 30+FPS. The demo looks horrible and is still choppy. Probably under 10FPS. Also I cant figure out why the King Air veers all over the place once it takes off. Not smooth at all. I've checked the weather and tried to work with my joystick. Just rubbish. Why would I pay money for something that is no good? Can anyone who has made this work please advise if maybe I am doing something wrong here? Do I need to spend a few thousand on a computer to get this thing running decent?
  19. Looks great. Might just purchase it
  20. If you look at the planes from A2A simulations then look at the aircraft in Flight there is a HUUUUGE difference. MS has never proven they could do an airplane right no reason to think their will be any better experience than the Beta. Sad ;-( With no 3rd party support why would anyone switch from FSX.No ATC is so unrealistic.
  21. As I did the reinstall and found the same thing I figured that must be the thing. Maybe there are some freeware 2d Panels out there.
  22. Thank you thank you. I had done that but when I took off from KSMX it looked all weird so I didn't think I did it right. Then I went ti KPSP and it looked right. Maybe just in my area it's all messed up.I appreciate the help
  23. S oI just purchased Acceleration. Installed no prob. Flew for several days no prob. Then for some reason the 2D panels are all missing in just the Accereration aircraft. The P51, EH-101 and F18. All the rest of my planes are fine. I did the repair option and still the same. The only thing I have done is do that automatic .cfg tweak and mess around with some Caranado aircraft I have.I looked at the main panel section of the .cfg file and it looked like this. Does it look right? Anyone else have the panel.cfg file that can check theirs to see if its the same?[Window00]Background_color=0,0,0size_mm=456,378position=4visible=1ident=MAIN_PANELalpha_blend=0.95window_size=0.6,0.65window_pos=0.2,0.3gauge00=fa-18!hud_2d, 0, 0, 456, 378, 4I did a search and found nothing. Anyone have any idea why just these 3 aircraft would all of a sudden be missing the 2D panel only.Thank you
