I bought a super computer (my video card is two away from the Titan for Christ sake) and I've noticed when I switch the Texture_Max_Load in my .cfg file to 4096 instead of 1024 I get 50-60 FPS but when it gets switched back to 1024 because of who knows why I only get between 8 and 15. I also went through the .cfg configuration program which I think also helped. Good luck to the original poster.

Both Project Cars and Auran Train Simulator are using crowd funding to finance their simulation projects. With all the brain power from companies like Orbx or A2A it's a shame someone can't take up flight simulator. Look what A2A has done by re-writing the code of the game to make things better. I'm guessing someone smart with enough resources could do this. Is Flight Simulator a trade marked name that nobody else can ever use? Is designing a flight simulator just too complicated? I was thinking about how smooth Grand Theft Auto 5 runs on the 360 and how detailed the terrain and city was. You can fly over that stuff no problem and it looks amazing.. Why does the flight simulator on a PC based platform have to run so horrible with so little detail? I suppose there are other sims like X-Plane that have tried to make a flight sim and done a decent job and even that failed Flight looked like it could be promising so it has to be possible to move the original FSX code forward. I guess at the end of the day it's all about the ability to make money with the project.. but maybe that brings me back to the crowd funding idea. The project is already funded in advance and other sim genre's are using it just fine.

I don't have that problem but every time I click on the link I have to put in my login information. I haven't cleared my cookies and I click the remember me button every time. that is quote annoying. Today when I came here it said they would only allow 250 non-registered guests on the site and I had to log in to continue. Anyway I know the moderators on here don't like complaining posts so this will probably get deleted or locked but yea I'm not sure what is going on here?

I would be worried if my system crashed and I had to re-instal my FSX from zero and couldn't activate it. Not sure if that is what happened here but I always wonder what will happen if I have to re-instal from scratch.

This plane is the best I've flown in a flight sim. Wonderful pictures. I also chose to fly that livery first.

This should put all other developers on notice of what kind of realism is required in order to get people to buy their stuff. I have purchased airplanes that seem just above the default. It looks like this offering will be the standard for price and features that at least I will base all future purchasing decisions on.

I lost my default AI when I installed WOA. Sucks... I uninstalled all of them in expert mode but now I live in a Steven King movie while flying. So I guess I will just need to either reinstall FSX or buy an addon. any suggestions on how to get default back?

Hello I was doing some searching and found that I do not like the emb colors and wondered about switching back to the default version. Of course I did not back up my original. Do I need to reinstall FSX or is there someplace I can download a default version?

So I understand GEX to be generic replacement textures and buildings for FSX.. Blue Sky Scenery is basically like Mega Scenery but not a clear... My question is if I get GEX then just download the Blue Sky stuff for the areas around the runways I fly from will that work? Would I simply put the Blue Sky scenery a level above the GEX stuff? And a secondary question does GEX alone have the night lighting? I guess around the airports I would have no night lighting with Blue Sky ... Hummm maybe at night I could just turn off the Blue Sky?

OE-LAT thanks for the detailed response I will use this info to make a purchase. So I fired up the World of AI installer and when I hit expert nothing shows up on the menu. THe planes are in the game and do fly around but they are not there in the installer under expert. So I just deleted the files in my sim folder... So my problem is I want default AI back... is that going to take a fresh install? If I deleted my .cfg file would FSX rebuild it on restart? I do have a modified .cfg file for performance... Not sure what to do... thanks for any additional help.

I did some searching around and did not find how to uninstall the World of AI and all the aircraft that went along with it as well as get my default AI back. Does anyone know how to do that? Is there a line in the .cfg I need to change or delete? Also any recommendations for a replacement AI program? I know there are 2 big ones I think. Any suggestions? Thanks

I don't believe the hobby is in trouble at all. The 3rd party add on's make this sim completely awesome. The people at Flight pushed ahead with a bad business model and paid very little attention to what the flight sim community wanted.... who would be purchasing their product... who does that ???? Anyway FSX is really great and I look forward to flying it all the time. Flight made NO impact on my flying whatsoever. IMO they should have tried to incorporate the advances they made in Flight into FSX even if it was a complete revamp put in the Jets, Truboprops, Heli's and add the whole world with certain areas in extreeme detail. Even if there was NO backwards compatability allow 3rd party developers to work their magic for whole world scenery, new aircraft with the tools they developed. Allow REX and other environment products to be included. Sell the sim for $70 , $80 or $90 bucks at major retailers, market the hell out of it and make the flight sim community happy. Meaning listen.

Just downloaded the patch.. we will see if how everything goes after that... however I finally got some time to fly this thing. I actually had no problems with start up, take off, cruise and landing.. I even found I was able to taxi just fine with the fuel at 4% and just controlling with throttle to thrust reverse and brakes to stop. Anyway I guess I could say my first experience with this thing wasn't a total disaster. Of course with REX flying is always amazing.

hahaha... I just blindly paid $40 because I was so excited about it and have all the same issues here. I've never flown a sim plan with such a wierd transition to thurst reversing. I'm sure there is or will be a good sound replacement for this thing. Seriously is there no heading indicator knob? I didn't see it and just went on with my flight. This is what I get for an impulse buy... I am so rooting for this plane... I really really hope some of these basic issues are fixed.... Like being able to properly start it hahahaha.

Yea some companies are providing the hard drive with the scenery because the files are so large. With terabytes of data being common anymore I think that hurdle could be overcome. I see people paying hundreds and hunderds of dollars for stuff so who knows. Thanks for the link that looks fantastic and what I was talking about. Also the comparison shots really show the differences.

I was on the ground and put the throttle to full. The cockpit started shaking just like the A2A stuff. I was suprised and thought it was pretty cool.

Yea payware is the way to go.. No I just fly but amazed at what talented people in the flight sim community can do. I bet there is already a way to include autogen with photoscenery. I mean the airports have buildings over the photos. I wonder if that might be a great product to design. Photoscenery with at least some sort of believable autogen and night lighting.Does anyone know if this exists?

No not really. I've seen great autogen with decent ground textures. There must be a way to do it.

Brilliant by Microsoft. Making your look at that everynight. I have not purchased it. Probably wont do Alaska either. Hopefully something will come along for me.

I wish the bluesky stuff had night lights. Also a few autogen buildings would be nice. I suppose it's not possible but even with upgraded terrain it's still only good once your above 1,000 AGL or so.
